When I say I love Cheesecake Factory, I mean this cat who was found malnourished and wandering through a Bay Area mall parking lot. Cheesecake Factory has since been rescued and nursed back to health. He's now healthy, vaxxed, & sweet, but still needs a loving home www.petfinder.com/cat/cheeseca...

The only reason I can think of for this news not being absolutely everywhere is that large media orgs don’t want to be seen as putting their thumbs on the scales a week before election day. And that’s cowardly as shit.

I mean, not that facts matter to these fuckers, but there have been at least 11 Arabic Nobel Prize winners, at least one Arabic Fields *Medal* winner, a Palestinian Wolf Prize winner, and One Thousand and One Nights and the invention of 0 might throw a wrench in the "no math or literature" bits.

So much to say about Brazil, not least of which is the role that Erika Hilton, a Black trans leader and most voted woman politician in Brazil, played in mobilizing folks for Lula. She was behind the critical, concrete, economic promise of shorter work-week. theprint.in/feature/erik...

theprint.inWho is Erika Hilton? Black trans politician was one of Lula’s loudest campaignersErika Hilton’s electoral triumph comes amid a hostile environment. Brazil has the highest number of reported murders of transgender people in the world, with 80 recorded in 2025.

Wild that there are 6 cities equal to or greater than Los Angeles, considering the reputation. I do wonder about percentages and weights of people with roommates in multiroom rentals. I'm at ~$1600 a month in a studio but others I know are ~$1400 in nice areas with 2 roomies.

90 is a good amount of time but I'm still sad about good and decent people who bring entertainment and joy to the world going while... others remain. He was an excellent part of Babylon 5 and the original series of Star Trek's crew both.

In his acceptance speech, Lula says he will work to regulate digital platforms in Brazil. “Digital crimes must be dealt with like real-life crimes.” This comes after Meta directly interfered with the Brazilian elections, favouring Flávio Bolsonaro.

as much as i’d rather build something new, we have to takeover and gut the democratic party all that infrastructure belongs to the people, not the loser ass DCCC consultant class that has reduced it to nothing since the clinton era

While I would prefer Texas lose so everyone shuts up about them, if they beat Ole Miss then the SEC's self-consumption will be REALLY thorough this week. ESPECIALLY if Vandy holds on to its lead, but I really wanna see Kentucky go the distance.

There's been some concern about how to nullify pardons for open criminal acts in an administration without shredding the Constitution, and I think there's two prongs: Impeachment and arguing that this guy lacked the mental faculties to grant pardons. Or shred that part of the Constitution, I guess.

Donald and JD are DIRECTLY DEFENDING the ad that elevates a protector of a child sexual abuser. EVERY Democrat in EVERY election should run on this and point out how their opponents refuse to condemn Trump, JD, or Vivek and how the Republican Party's culture is one of supporting child abuse.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump: "Ramaswamy put up a very powerful Ad about a mother saying that her daughter, Acton, is a liar, and much worse. The Press is trying to get him to 'take down the Ad.' Frankly, anybody whose mother spoke about daughter that way would normally lead to the daughter being precluded from serving"

Ignoring the anachronistic nature of trying to apply 21st century tech to mid-20th century protests, guys like Friedman are absolutely the kinds of people who would have called MLK Jr. self-aggrandizing and attention seeking with his protests, especially with the Letter from a Birmingham Jail.

"The Jews who went to Mississippi didn't take selfies and post tweets." Okay, but honestly, if tweets had been a thing in 1961, many of them probably would have done.

Also, even if Brad Lander was doing it all for the gram and the ego boost and the political lift... I personally think it's probably bad that a national military force arrests people, across numerous nationalities, for doing not crimes and *doesn't* arrest people for shooting/beating others at will.

Weird how "adult men in girls locker rooms" is "TRANS = SCARY BAD RAPISTS" and not Donald Trump (who admitted going into girls locker rooms while they were changing), or Larry Nassar, or folks like Sandusky and Dennis Hastert and Jim Jordan who were abusing boys so who cares about that.

Erin Reed@erininthemorning.com

Interesting, Sarah Trone Garriott changed her ad. Now it's "adult men in girls locker rooms" instead of just "men" It's still a bad ad and still echoes talking points and shows support for a "surgery ban," but it also shows she's nervous about her own weaponized transphobia.
