This is such a weird way to think of it. In Civ 6 your units (eg War Carts) or buildings (Film Studios) were unlocked in a general game era, but your abilities like Enuma Anu Enlil and Land Down Under and Court of Love and Taxis worked all game long, and they were what defined your gameplay. #civ7

Civ 6 Babylon doesn’t stop being unique after the ancient era. Antiquities and Parks made Teddy a power from turn one, long before the film studio appears. Calling these civs ´vanilla’ with nothing unique seems untethered to the reality of the game that I played.

When you find a nice spot to build Hale o Keawe next to the Valley of Flowers in Civ7, but then you think "actually, fuck those flowers" and you let the sparks fly.

Tried the new Civ 7 Babylon this weekend. Typically love my Mesopotamian civs, but it's weird to play a cradle of civilization civ that's so weak in antiquity. The early city growth is nice, but the settlement cap is so onerous it feels like it takes until exploration age to finally get going.

Is Babylon weak? Eh, yes and no. And I wasn’t playing on Deity. Restrictive? Very. You really do have to constantly slot Corona Civica & Gordian Knot to get any decent settlement limit. Interesting build. Huge cities. But a Babylon that starts slow? Weird idea to implement, not my favorite.

In a Civ 7 Q&A session on the upcoming Arc of Tomorrow and Earthrise expansions, this answer made me the most excited. Currently, the game turns into a visual mess halfway through the exploration age, and it needs these reforestation and green-space improvements to clean up the clutter.

The Kirimāḫu has to be one of the weakest uniques in the game. You don't need the early food because you grow by wonders & buildings, then you grow so big you outgrow food entirely. Placing it centrally in your city gives the most food adjacency, but that's better used for a wonder. Nearly useless.

Base case scenario for the Kirimāḫu, surrounded by districts in a city that I haven't yet been able to replace with a wonder. My beautiful mid little Kirimāḫu.

Lastly, Babylon leans hard into specialists. It's nice to have niche civs, but I don't like how specialists are handled now. It's a puzzle with only one right answer (surround a key quarter with wonders) that lacks choice and creativity. The numbers go brrr is fun but wish there were more options.

No equivocating. -- "Well yeah, of course we will" should be the matter-of-fact response of every Democrat to the question of whether they'll tear down all these vast and trunkless legs of stone to this half-sunk man with frown and wrinkled lip.

Typical Civ 7: Two Antiquity Mesopotamian civs: Assyria and Babylon. One Antiquity Mesopotamian leader: Gilgamesh (Sumerian). I know bro became a meme in 6, but… Hammurabi… Ashurbanipal… Sammuramat… Nebuchadnezzar… Sennacherib… Nabopolassar… so many possible choices that would actually fit.

"Do not place a wicked man upon the throne" is PRIMORDIAL, it's up there with "don't shit in the water supply" and "remember to feed your troops." It's not even at the level of complexity of "invest in members of the community to yield greater returns!"

Donald Trump is a very stupid fucking person who genuinely has no idea how anything works and the U.S. press should never be allowed to live down their failure in communicating this mercilessly and clearly to the U.S. public

Sanders: You know why Trump has a nucleus of support? People say, “I go out and I vote and I’m going nowhere. Democracy is not working. You know what I need? I need a strong guy.” It’s not just in this country. You’re seeing this all over the world.
