South Korea has proven (twice) how to make impeachment a viable mechanism, and it’s one we could adopt by simple rules change, no constitutional amendment needed: make the vote on it by secret ballot.

I feel this is an important post, and comments...

I want to say one thing about this. This has been the hiring process for low wage workers for awhile. Wal Mart et al have been using automated job application systems to gamify everything from postings to schedules. The crisis, such that it is, is that it is now happening in middle skills jobs.

Paraphrasing the wrap-up at the end of interview with president of the Flight Attendant Union (55k at 20 airlines)... We are less safe right now because the aviation system is stressed. If it gets worse, we (flight attendants) are not going to participate in it, and we are going to save lives.

Hamilton Nolan@hamiltonnolan.bsky.social

This interview is notable because it contains the same hinting about flight attendants refusing to work if they think the system is not safe that we heard before the 2018 govt shutdown ended. No union workers are obligated to work in an unsafe environment.

Former Texas Lege reporter here. A Dem hasn't held this seat since 1990. Tarrant is the safest of red suburban counties. There is no way the TX and national GOP aren't in panic mode right now.

Taniel@taniel.bsky.social

JUST IN: Democrats flip a red seat in the Texas Senate. Taylor Rehmet wins against Leigh Wambsganss, a conservative activist who helped lead right-wing efforts to take over TX school boards. With all early vote, and 95% of precincts, in, Dem up 57/43. Trump won this seat by 17% in Tarrant County.

An insane result. A flip in red Texas. A 33-point swing from red-to-blue. A MAGA candidate promoted heavily by Trump. A state where the new GOP Congressional district lines now might not be enough to withstand a blue wave. A state where #TXSen is now officially in play. Staggering all around.

TrumpsTaxes@trumpstaxes.com

🚨OFFICIAL FLIP ALERT🚨 Democrat Taylor Rehmet has FLIPPED Texas State Senate District 9! This is a seat that Trump won by *17* points, and a district that has more voters than a *Congressional* district. Plus the GOP *heavily* outspent Dems here for their MAGA candidate. Political. Earthquake.

One day after ICE killed a mom in Minneapolis, Trump's agents shot two more people in Portland. How does Trump and his team respond? Not remorse. Not empathy. Just declaring the cases closed before the facts come to light, then covering them up by blocking local investigators.

I've been following this threat of legal action, and I like AG Mayes. She says "times up", but in the whole interview does not say anything specific that will be done. We'll have to wait to see. PS, she did use the phrase: "taxation without representation" (!) #Grijalva #AZ07

Part of the utility for huge protests like No Kings is that they undermine the fundamental basis of Trump's power, which is elite consent. If universities, private companies, government officials, etc. think they could get caught up by a popular backlash they're less likely to comply w/ the regime.

Again, it is a full-blown federal felony crime for anyone in the White House or Executive Office of the President to order tax investigations into anyone. And it's not just a crime to DO it, it's even a federal crime for an employee not to REPORT such an order to the Treasury Inspector General.
