how do you want to see notifications improved on Bluesky? we're investing a design cycle into improving the Notifications page. tell me what would make this page more useful for you.

fixing sessions without dm access receiving dm notifications incl message contents would be pretty cool #Probably

1. I am definitely NOT seeing all the notifications I should be getting. (I'll wonder why I haven't seen a post from X, go to poster's page and see several days' worth). 2. When I've clicked on a notification (i.e. read it), remove it from list.

Can you allow truncation of posts within the notifs tab (as a configurable option?) I don't need to see the entire post read back to me just to know that it was liked. I remember what the post said after 1 line.

Let’s say two people add you. You inspect and find one is a obvious bullshit bot, and block them. Now the notification for the other one disappears. It’d be nice if that stuck, or if there was just an always-on tab for Last Followed // Following.

if someone likes multiple posts of mine, especially in one thread, those should be collapsed into one entry. let me quickly jump down to my last unread position. maybe always put all unread replies/quotes first, so i don't have to tab over just to make sure i don't miss any.

i'd love to see "this person liked X's repost of your post" and similar, so that i can know who's repost made the like happen. let the counter exceed the 30+, show the actual number.

let's say you receive a notification that someone you subscribe to on pckt posted a new article. what should happen when you click that notification in Bluesky?

More improvements. Lets go! I’d like to see ... 1. Bulk actions 2. More notif types 3. User actions 4. Better settings Very quick prototype but it starts to get at what I might like to see. Not a fan of my settings solutions (so many toggles) but I like being able to set them all at once.

#1 request is just bunched likes as a single notification, per post and per user: -croissanthology liked 70 of your posts [click to expand] rather than [70 notifications from croissanthology] -[500 people liked your post about whatever] click to expand bonus: bsky.app/profile/snep...

max power 🌌@sneptech.bsky.social

stretch request would be that those like notification blocks be batched in "people i follow" and "everyone else", so one would be like [ResistPoster2012 and 924 others liked your post] and [Person You're Mutuals With and 3 others you follow liked your post] so you get general and closeknit pings ty!

When I get a notification while the app is open, and I read that notification, then close the app, the home screen icon is still badged. I have to reopen the app, go specifically to the notifications tab, and sometimes even refresh it before the home screen badge clears. I just want that fixed.

At least for me android, the mentions tab doesn't highlight new notifications with a different background like the notifications tab. It should do, including when you switch to it from the notifications tab

Snooze button for specific posts. Sometimes a post or reply blows up and I don't want to completely mute it, but I also could use a break without resorting to snoozing all notifications through my phone settings.

Option, to not see posts in my standard timeline that I already saw (or interacted with) in my notification section. So I can prioritize important news and read my „… in other news“ timeline when I feel like it. Adaptive timeline, if you will.

it'd be really nice to have a way to make them less addictive/grabby without turning off like notifs entirely or disabling the popup i wanna see my friends likes but i don't have a way to do that without risking a dopamine loop

This is not strictly related to notifications but to post muting, although it would reflect in the notifications too It would be great to be able to decide what to mute in a post, whether everything or just likes and/or reposts, because I would like to be notified about replies

Something to explore might be the mental models people have when they’re scanning notifications (from people I respect, someone I might want to follow up with, potential collaborator, etc) and how things like filters or views might support that

please verify that they actually work correctly on all platforms. e.g. someone told me they never get DM notifications. not sure if true. there have been wonkiness with Android in the past too. so would just be good to verify that each platform receives normal and DM notifs and badge correctly

maybe Chat badge doesn't count but i've been having this issue where it's 10+ for two years already. i can't clear it. i don't know where +10 comes from. it's so bad. i think there was some ongoing work on this... in general, i much prefer twitter's model where opening inbox page clears the badge

at last! yes, this helped, but now it forever shows a tiny dot (cc @rafael.my) and "1 request" which i can't dismiss or similarly mark as read (because i don't know which one it is)

more coalescing would be nice, like if a person likes 10 posts that's currently 10 different notification rows. twitter used to coalesce both situations better iirc

Whatever you do, consider latency: already, my main pain point is that a notification badges on 30s or more *after* I've read a reply or otherwise expired the update. If a new feature makes this latency worse, that sucks.

The DM notifications have been useless since the day I joined. Maxes out at 9 and counts all unread ever basically means it sits on 9 for everyone always. Up it to 99 and only count the last 24 hours and it'd be actually useful.

Please fix the replies! If you follow someone and have notifications enabled and they follow you, if they reply to a post it will show up as a new post notification and NOT a reply notification. Which is extremely annoying.

occasionally i'll post something popular and get "___ and 9 others liked this" line items over and over. it would be nice to see "50 people liked this" in one line instead. but i will say that overall the noties settings work great and keep things relevant so this is all i got

More filters in the notification list: likes, reposts, comments, follows. Also, a section for notifications from mutuals and people you follow.

Second to this, notification categories on Android need to be implemented properly. There was an attempt to add them over a year ago but it was abandoned.

can we show a notification count badge for each account in the account switcher screen?

I wonder if there could be a way to subscribe to notifications on someone else's post. Like, if someone asks a great question and you wanna read the answers, but no one has replied yet, you could say "Get reply notifications" (Slack has that option).

Other than that, what someone else mentioned about adding all likes together into one div instead of multiple instances for the same post would make it much cleaner.

custom notification tabs, you could make notification feeds of certain people & certain types of posts. and maybe have an option to remove notifications from the all tab, so when you turn notifications on for someone you can put them Only in a custom tab or in both custom & all

if you received a notification in the Bluesky app that someone you subscribed to published a new article (on a standard.site platform), and you clicked that notification, what would you expect to happen?

Agree that seems super powerful and a great “escape” valve for people to customize how they choose. Could just be best effort or have an SLA of yyy ms before ignoring it

The monotony is not great, you clear history & same notice pops up when other like/repost notice comes in. More importantly separate topic autosave, draft is great but with the average brains attention span these days distractions are plentiful & nothing worse then grabbing phone to finish & reload

For desktop, it would be nice if we had a way to send out push notifications from our browsers so we'd be instantly notified about stuff even when Bluesky is not open.

Something I’ve been wanting for years now is to have several consecutive likes from one user to be consolidated into one batch notification, like activity notifications but just for likes (and retweets?) It’s been a while but I remember this being a feature I enjoyed on Twitter!
