Get in the Bus Pomni, there's no time to explain

Congrats! I know Fortnite is getting a little problematic *cough the CEO is stupid cough* but it is still a good accomplishment and I can’t wait to crank 90’s as Pomni :D This also opens the doors for more indie collabs with Fortnite than problematic people yipppeeeee

transphobia and gen ai, great way to shoot yourself in both feet at the same time hope the creators who might have worked with you take note

i've actually worked with them many times for this exact reason! im in like 3 fortnites at this point its kinda chill

I'm sure that this deal got inked long before some of the more egregious stuff Fortnite and Epic has done came to light. And they probably wanted it timed around when the last episode dropped. But dang, still don't like seeing this.

i expected way better from you guys than collaborating with fortnite.. epic is genuinely just.. a bad company... gooseworx, the creator of this show is a TRANS WOMAN, and youre collabing with a company that supports jk rowling... im gonna have to unfollow for this bullshit.

bud in 2 years when some sort of NDA drops off, we're gonna get the reveal that gooseworx didnt even want the last episode to be in theaters. there's no way she wanted the finale of her show to be used to drive FOMO payments by dangling limited access over the heads of fans.

I always found it weird when fans argued that Glitch put the finale in theaters to “open doors” for indie artists. Let’s be real, they did it primarily so they could make as much money off their most popular series as possible. Indie or not, they’re still a business at the end of the day.

why are you collabing with a game that loves generative ai and also collabed with jk rowling? im gonna wait for a response in case im missing some context but like i expected better from you guys

I don't think it's a particularly bad move to put the work of a trans creator into Fortnite, you know the Potter prick is seething over it. Fill the game up with queers, let them take over!! I'm not saying it's necessarily good to work with a company who supports JK's work but that's an upside.

It doesn't matter if JK is seething over it or not because this collab is just giving them more money to put towards erasing trans rights

I didn't say it's good. I just said there's a silver lining. Epic isn't a great company but at least in this one instance it's benefiting a trans creator.

Does it though? Does Epic give a percentage of all profits to all current collab partners, or do they track DLC purchases so you buy skin X and partner X gets a portion of the proceeds from that, while partner Y only gets money if you buy skin Y.

ngl i dont think they owe yall anything.if you actually wanna put this energy into somethin then put it towards fortnite instead.just ironic to me that yall preach about loving indie stuff until they're successful enough to collab with things you dont like

Theres a difference between "dont like" and "this ip is contributing to people like me losing their rights" If they want to be the company that constabtly reminds us they're indie and good and have values then yes they owe us

Yeah, and killing the environment and hurting vulnerable people while they're at it. Epic Games has a reputation, its not like Glitch signed off on this without being aware of it.

Working with J.K. Rowling or any other creator is obviously a non-issue. Independent figures, public and otherwise, choose their own professional and personal connections including with others you personally dislike, and treating that as any kind of problem is cancel culture.

To be (begrudgingly) fair, James Earl Jones gave his explicit consent for his voice to be used to train Darth Vader ai clones before he died, so that one's just kinda tacky and dumb rather than actively malicious like other ai celebrity recreations. The other stuff's still valid, though.

They did a Harry Potter season recently, and they partnered with ElevenLabs to produce the Darth Vader with James Earl Jones' voice that everyone got to swear.

A fortnite collab takes about 6-18 months to develop and there's probably ages of paperwork behind the scenes on top of that. These collabs likely weren't even in the game when the TADC crossover was agreed on. Fortnite is literally one of the most indie-friendly platforms on the mainstream rn.

Regarding contracts, this is why many contracts have "morality" / controversy clauses, whereby if one party does something such that association with that party could bring reputational damage to the other party, some contract terms may be voided. They're difficult and nebulous, but common.

They may have signed contracts before the JK and GenAI stuff was known about. These kinds of things can drag, and the fines if Glitch backed out after could be enough to bankrupt them If that IS the case, then I hope Glitch exercises more caution with contracts from now on

Welcome to capitalism. People need to not starve to death and Epic pays good, unfortunately. Glitch has been buddies with them since day one anyways, the animation software TADC uses is from Epic.

Fortnite is a corporate product of Epic Games, whose main "abuses" are with digital distribution practices; it's a publisher like any other, not any kind of real-life seriousness. Where TF are you getting the concept of anyone opposing someone else's existence from here?

I do think people need to calm down while the details of the deal are not known. This collab could have been decided long before Epic started all the AI and JK Rowling bullshit. It’s like how that Among Us TV show has apparently been done since like 2024 and didn’t air until this month.

To everyone getting upset: These things are planned way, WAY in advance. The contracts were definitely signed well before any of the Harry Potter or GenAI stuff was added to Fortnite. Chill out and just don't play it.

Okay but seriously I feel like this is *kinda* cool but not that good of a thing. Fortnite *used* to be a gold medal for "this is important to the people/the internet" but not really anymore with the AI stuff and whatnot It is still cool for Glitch to be featured in a AAA game Glitch's past that tho

I feel like it would be cooler if Glitch did this in reverse. Collabing with smaller Indie games/projects as a medal of "you made it" Glitch has grown way past needing that validation from Fortnite. So why not give that validation out

"Pomni, Jax, time for another adventure! Can you survive against the Justice League, Avengers, X-Men, Teen Titans, Godzilla, Hatsune Miku, Goku, Naruto, Ichigo, Ryu and Chun-Li, Scorpion and Sub-Zero, Jason Voorhees, Ghostface, Kratos, Doomguy, John Wick, Mystery Inc., Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles-"

y'all.

the amount of people treating a fortnite collab as a huge moral failing instead of the equivalent of a digital circus happy meal is making me insane. it's only that in the way that engaging with capitalism at all is a moral failing. atp fortnite is the big billboard to tell people about your thing

I'd argue sending the message publicly how much this sucks is productive. Cooperation don't change things because of a kindly worded letter saying please and thank you, they change when people talking about it will eventually make the algorithms scream "this company fucked up" and then it snowballs

like, again, feel free to not like it. feel free to be upset. you're allowed. but be honest about why and put the upset where it should go. directing it at epic is more effective than directing it at the things outside epic using the fortnite machinery to help themselves

It is, but I don't think its invalid to be upset when the seller of the billboard has been an advocate of using the art-stealing machines and one of the whole appeals of the show is how human and personal the art is

i think can we getting a spiritual successor to fusion/fusion redux (that one duke nukem 3d tc)? well get it, it's called "Serverblight: The Archives", its concepts are based on Fusion/Fusion Redux.

Devils advocate: contracts like this one can take years to see the light and all the terrible happened after the signing. Might even have been Netflix that opened the door. Is it a free pass... nah... but I feel leniency is earned. But the shit fit be real if bedfellows happen with worse groups.

I do agree with the general consensus here, but Ill point out we dont know how long this was planned for, or what legally binding contracts were signed. Its been noted that this collaboration might of started about a year ago, before JK, and is only releasing now in time with the final episode.

They just had a huge box office success. Epic is a shitty studio which uses AI and partners with evil shitstains like JK Rowling. People are right to be looking askance at Goose.

It's not puritan for a big target demographic of a certain entity to express how they feel about said entity collaborating with another that is in opposition to said demographic (and many others) in so many ways. It's not outrage to express disappointment. Sharing feelings is important for learning.

I'm gonna say this: I really, reallyyy hope Glitch dind't know anything about the status of fortnite, with the AI shit, transphobic harry potter thingy and yada yada. You could... i don't know, collab with other company that have good reputation? even if they are indie or not.

Fortnite: -Uses generative AI -Collabed with Harry Potter (the residuals of which JKR uses to fund anti trans lobbying) -Is published by a company whose CEO defended AI Generated Child Porn on X There's still time to break the contact. Buddying w AI Child Porn guys company is not investor friendly

I understand contracts can take a long time to go through, so Im willing to reserve a morsel of devils advocate, but straight up you should be using Harming Your Brand as a way to wriggle out of it cause the man did defend ai child porn and now that reflects on Glitch www.pcgamer.com/gaming-indus...

pcgamer.comEpic Games CEO Tim Sweeney argues banning Twitter over its ability to AI-generate pornographic images of minors is just 'gatekeepers' attempting to 'censor all of their political opponents'Not the hill I'd die on, but I'm not a billionaire.

Not to mention a duty to protect your employees; Goose already gets a stupid amount of backlash including for things Glitch does that are out of her control. You wouldn't want your trans darling author getting all the shit from that list of associations right? Take some responsibility.

Honestly a bad look on the part of everyone at Glitch. I'll at least concede that this deal was already made a long time ago, long before Epic Games started using genAI assets and art, but it's still feels bad to see Glitch collaborate with them, especially now of all times.

Really disapointing. TADC is a great show and piece of art and you decide to collab with a gen AI loving game that happely inbites any bigoted IP like HP. reconsidering watching the finale now I had higher hopes for Glitch

The show was rendered in Unreal Engine since day one. The show was extremely successful and a collab was most likely going to happen. We are entitled to not like this collab as much as we want but it happened and if we don't like it. We don't have to buy it.

glitch really said "and after that spectacular success, it's time to blow our brains out with a 12 gauge! all the other companies are doing it"

Glitch early 2023: Glitch has brought on Gooseworx as a showrunner to make our next show - The Amazing Digital Circus! Gangle mid 2026: Is this a Fortnite thing? That would explain why Jonesy has been here the past few weeks

This is true though. Putting in the pockets of of a known Transphobic is wrong. However, this doesn’t ignore the fact that Goodeworx (likely) didn’t have much say in this decision, her I.P is owned by Glitch Productions, please don’t harass the creator without proof or nuisance. Thank you.

bsky.app/profile/wari... So much AI in everything. Is this worth it?

Wario64@wario64.bsky.social

'The road to Unreal Engine 6' - www.unrealengine.com/news/the-roa... "for UE6, we see LLMs, generative AI models, and tools like Claude and Codex playing a central role in helping you build content faster while maintaining the creative control you need."

Gonna be honest... I hadn't watched yet because of time and stuff. Now that you're getting Fortnite money, people who are pro-AI and pro-Musk and pro-Rowling, I will not be watching at all

I love tadc and think basically all controversies around it have been weird and borderline evil. But this shit is actively collaborating with people trying to kill art and have helped put down funds to kill me, so yeah I am openly feeling the emotions in my gut flip quickly over this

it definitely doesnt look great for glitch with epic’s current reputation, but do i suddenly think theyre a soulless monster corporation who LOVE ai and want to fund jk rowling??? FUCK NO 😭 idk where the hell that sentiment has come from it feels like people are waiting for a ‘gotcha!’ moment here

when the change up is this fast it's always because they are looking for reasons. personally taking the epic games dime and using it to fund independent human made art including an anti-capitalist takedown of disney is fine. they already got the money. just don't buy it.

They take Epic's dime but in return Epic get to put their name in the same breath as people pushing GenAI and Rowling's transphobia, both of which are pretty disastrous for the indie art that Glitch produces.

The collab was likely in the works long enough it could predate epics many many controversies this last year. I'm not dropping Glitch over this, however any company working this directly with epic should have pushback and expect it. Enough pushback will make it harder for epic to get collabs.

I feel like people are mad digital circus turned out to be a story about people instead of a epic lore filled fan theory series

Ok glad I'm not going crazy. I'm not a particular fan of fortnight but unless goose comes out and says there was foul play literally whats the point

Like... Worst of the worst, people who already play fortnite give some money to glitch. Everyone who wants to boycott fortnite still can. Glitch is purely benefiting from this I think, especially monetarily. I don't think they should close themselves to the world to avoid any and all issues

Unsurprising. Epic LOVES to shove money to anything that becomes uber popular. I really hope you guys know what you're getting yourselves into by partnering with a company that's been embracing AIgen, crypto, NFTs, and blockchain.

Hey Keiros, not to take away from the stuff you're saying, but I thought you ought to know that Epic Games has been a partner with Glitch since before the Digital Circus was a thing. The show itself was partially made in Unreal Engine, a product of Epic Games. Epic has always been a part of this.

In the pilot episode, no less! I get that this probably how a lot of people are finding out, but I just am a bit baffled how this is news to so many people. Fewer people watch the credits to shows they like than I was assuming.

They're making good art, they're allowed to make money off that including by selling the show in the cinema. The problems people have with Fortnite should not be *that* they're making money, but who its coming from.

People being upset that an indie company has been invited to participate in THE BIGGEST VIDEO GAME ON THE PLANET should instead celebrate the accomplishment. I don't play Fornite and don't support Epic, but that doesn't mean this short wasn't amazing and this is a fantastic opportunity for Glitch.

Ill note, glitch has been partnering with Epic for a while now, but that was because of Unreal Engine which TADC has been animated in (though I dont know if the entirety has been Unreal or not?) Im thinking this collab was preplanned months before the JK collab was revealed, and legally binding-

-contracts may of already been signed, with no real way to get out of it. I dont know though, this is just my guessing from Glitch and Epic's history, from needing a collab like this ready for the final episode, and other things that just make me feel like this wouldnt of been done if they knew-

didn’t they added a homophobic, transphobic, racist POS the burnt peanut to the game, and didn’t they use genAI, this is not it glitch

Things like this makes me more wary of those running Glitch. You have such good standings, don't tarnish it with stuff like this. Fortnite uses Gen AI and has teamed up with Rowling, who thinks people like the Creator of TADC(Goose) and those like her (me) shouldn't have rights.

So can we talk now about how Knights of Guinevere is about the horrors of corporatized advertising and monetization of media and mass production of worthless plastic crap marketed in unethical ways to kids, which then immediately promoted mass produced worthless crap of itself marketed with 90s ads?

Anyway Fuck GenAI Fuck JK Rowling, queen of terfs. I'm going to go "maybe this contract was long in the works before the genAi thing was confirmed, but you're on thin ice Glitch" because contractual stuff does tend to take time.

this is how it works. deals like this are 1-2 years out, sometimes more. glad at least someone was able to, through sheer logic, figure it out. not possible to "read the room" that far in advance. backing out of a contract like this can get you destroyed in court.

I like this approach. It's a good one - If the GenAI and HP collab stuff wasn't known about before the contract, fine, whatever, legally bunding contracts can be ass in that way. If it turns out Glitch knew BEFORE signing, though, then wtaf Glitch?

Yeah its definitely possible Glitch signed a contract before the HP announcement. The Fortnite skins could have been ready for a good while before the finale and the contract stipulated releasing in time with the finale. Plus canceling a contract isn't free. We'll never know due to NDA. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Now I know a lot of us are mixed about this but I’m one to look on the bright side because that means pomni gets to be in the same game as some of my other favorite characters, Ben 10, the turtles and the ninjago team and Optimus Prime and Godzilla
