The science is CRYSTAL CLEAR. There is exactly zero evidence that Tylenol causes autism. This kind of mealy-mouthed reporting makes me question my continued financial support for NPR and VPM. I can hear MAGA propaganda for free anywhere.

Everytime you kneel to Trump's bs you just add more dirt to your own grave. He will NEVER give you back that money and kissing his ass will only make those who would want to give it back, reconsider.

To save everyone a click, the answer to the headline question is something like: “Ignore the current HHS Secretary and POTUS’ guidance.” Or it should be.

Getting more and more disappointed with the cowardice that news outlets like yourself are displaying in the face of these idiot fascists. Put the real headline. There is no connection, and they said Tylenol because they can't pronounce acetaminophen.

Come ON. Trump said NOTHING about science. He just spouted his usual erroneous opinion. Lots of us we the people types are trying to help y'all out by recurring donations. Stop with the ploy for access journalism already. Don't placate bullies and idiots.

"Here's what parents need to know to make their own decisions about the drug that's been universally considered safe" Trump's administration is fucking lying. Just call it out. All this will lead to is ignorant conspiracy theorists actively avoiding helpful medication.

Good lord, NPR -- you shouldn't mince words. Just say the science is clear and it doesn't cause autism. There's been plenty of research that shows there's no link. You aren't even federally funded anymore--you have nothing to fear in telling the truth in the face of this sham of an administration.

It misinforms the public to say the science "isn't clear." More science is always better, and the scientific method MEANS all knowledge is provisional. However, enabling fascists to suggest a "link" when none is evidenced and being complicit in their obfuscation costs lives. Not the NPR I've known.

Yeah, to actually stand a chance of getting funding they'd have to embrace the lie! 🤥 But even then, their funding has already gone to billionaires as tax cuts and hand outs!

you can absolutely say there is NO scientific evidence to indicate that Tylenol causes autism you are misrepresenting what science is here sincerely, someone who won a graduate fellowship in health psychology

Read the article, they are quoting from the people who ran the largest studies. From there own words it does not seem like there is absolute clarity on this. They have links to the studies in the article. The science is in fact, not clear on this...

""I wouldn't say that the chapter is closed on this by any means, but certainly the mound of evidence from the best studies to date points to no causal effect of acetaminophen on autism." That's Brian Lee of Drexel University, one of the author's on the largest and most quoted studies about this.

What the fuck are you on about? There is no science on this. Because it's absurdly nonsensical. The only paper I could find on it was from Sweden, and once sibling-controlled analysis is applied there is no relationship. Even suggesting the evidence is unclear is "fake news". Do better.

Print this post out on a piece of paper and tape it to the wall near your desk. Look at it every time you ask yourself why people aren’t renewing their support for local PBS stations.

The science is clear and no matter what sort of false or half-truth claim you post about concerning the connection between autism and Tylenol (there isn't one), this administration isn't going to give you your federal funding back. Do better NPR.

Actually it is clear that there is no established causal link. You would do your readers better by explaining correlation vs causation and the scientific process

Everyone should read the article before commenting, it turns out the science is not as clear as most of you seem to think. The research is discussed in the article, and the studies are linked and researches are quoted. They are careful to say "the research suggest there is no link".

Parents should ignore this administration and consult the guidelines of other, more responsible and science-based governments. Canada and the UK are just two options. No medical advice coming from RFK Jr-led agencies can be considered reliable at this point.

This is a good move. I live in Colorado, and our state health department is starting to issue public guidance on current health issues as well. The CDC and NIH have many dedicated, expert people, but they're being silenced by RFK Jr. It's sad and dangerous.

NPR if you want to fill your funding gap with support from the public, you should maybe stop printing lies & half truths in the paper. People who believe Tylenol & Vaccines cause autism arent going to give you money. People who know the science is clear and there is NO LINK between either just might

You actually don't have to lie for this administration, and it'd honestly be better for your mid-to-long-term existence to not lie for them.
