In just the past few weeks, several major Hollywood names have been openly talking about the AI projects that they have up until this point been working on quietly. How did this change come about?

It's not a change. Lyonne has been talking about her AI movie for over a year. Darren Aronofsky out out a "revolutionary" a.i. movie last year. Marvel used a.i. for the opening credits to their Samuel jackson show. A.I. was in late night with the devil, etc. they're all just trend chasing and lazy

Ben Affleck might be the key to unlocking this conversation. Most of Hollywood was taken by surprise by the news that the actor had an AI company. His deal with Netflix is an easier sell because it’s uniting two entities from within the industry instead of bringing in an “outsider” company

If "The Actor has an AI company" then that's not something he's doing as an "Actor" but as a business owner/investor. And it is no surprise the Owner class wants to push AI everywhere.

What I gleaned from this is that Hollywood does not want to replace the *actor* (because this is a hard sell to both powerful actors and to their audience) but they’re fine with replacing VFX artists. Ugh.
