As usual, the NYPD opposes any impediment to police shooting.

The thing about RFK Jr is that he’s not just a eugenicist who peddles extreme and dangerous anti-science, anti-vaccine conspiracy theories that cause suffering, pain, and death, but he’s also a vile racist piece of s**t

The Bulwark@thebulwark.com

RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Nobel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."

All of those warning posts of how the market is essentially in recession without AI are maybe gonna matter a LOT

Carl Quintanilla@carlquintanilla.bsky.social

WOLFE: “.. If AI capex growth slows to 15% (from our 35% estimated run rate) and equities fall 7%, GDP growth takes a roughly 60bp hit .. .. A severe unwind, with AI investment contracting 10% and equities falling 25%, subtracts roughly 1.7 percentage points -- that would start to hurt more ..”

Funny to see what industries are like yeah an LLM can do my job. Every creative field is like “fuck you this sucks” and Lawyers are like “yeah for the boring shit but don’t tell anyone” and half of coders are like “I’m shit, I’m a worm, please fucking kill me” and the other half are really annoyed.

gotta say hats off to all the writers pretending to do profiles of Silicon Valley CEOs just so they can add that one same paragraph, every single time, that demonstrates they're all insane freaks who do not know or like their own kids.

A new survey of 1,000 American adults found that the strongest supporters of transgender sports bans are not the people who admire women most: they are the people who hold the most hostile views about women. www.helenwebberley.com/news/transge...

The best part about AI personal pieces are that they show us some of the most emotionally detached humans in existence blissfully unaware of how gross their behavior is.

Reagan talked about welfare queens in Cadillacs, Trump talks about Somalian thieves in Mercedes Benzes, because being *real* racist has been a core strategy Republican politicians for a very long time, even if prior to Trump a lot of folks who should have known better enjoyed pretending otherwise.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump: "Somalia -- 98% of the people here now from Somalia don't work. They don't have to work because they steal so much. They all have a Mercedes Benz. Low IQ and they live better than you do."

Always a good time to remind people that Yglesias hammered Van Hollen for his work helping Kilmar Abrego Garcia as it was calling attention to an issue Trump was popular on. Which Matt deleted once it became clear that Trump began sliding HARD on immigration at that time.

Jake Grumbach@jakemgrumbach.bsky.social

A helpfully clear exchange here Hasan: "So your argument is that [Minnesota ICE protesters] should stay at home because immigration is a salient issue for Donald Trump. Opposing ICE is only going to help Trump. Wait until we win the election in 2028." Yglesias: "Yes that is what I would have said"

Ukraine's victory at Hostomel airport, the resistance of the people of Bucha who paid for it under Russian occupation, Zelenskyy's courage to figt ... Russians made mistakes. Their biggest was assuming Ukrainians lacked agency and the will to fight.

Gaza can be up for debate here, but not Iraq at all. And Yglesias very famously fucked that up from day one. (I do generally think his writing on foreign affairs shows a lack of focus and knowledge and is more of a "I must have a take" thing than actual belief)

Mehdi Hasan@mehdirhasan.bsky.social

Me: "What does it say for your credibility on foreign policy issues, if you've gotten the two biggest foreign policy issues of our lifetime, Iraq and Gaza, both wrong?" Matthew Yglesias: "I don't know, what does it mean to get Gaza right?" New clip below. Full interview: zeteo.com/p/matt-ygles...

At least hea not Max Boot who claims to be a foreign policy expert and was a dunce on Iraq with actual disastrous consequences. So... yay?

i think dems too often take the black vote for granted and i would love if they had a serious challenge from the gop for that vote so dems would have to perform. but republicans are so cartoonishly racist that if youre a remotely politically involved black person, theyre simply not a real option.

Maybe an unpopular take on here, but, with the glaring exception of Maine, Chuck Schumer didn't do too terribly in recruiting Democratic Senate candidates. -Cooper's set to win big in #NCSen -Brown is in the lead in #OHSen -Peltola is leading in #AKSen -Turek is competing in #IASen
