Y'all, I've been slowly dating this russian guy who is pretty hard to read because he's not getting any of my normal standard questions. So I'm figuring out other ways to find out how safe + good he would be for me. By sharing my feelings and opinions then watching how he responds.

I asked him what podcasts he likes. He doesn't listen to podcasts. I ask him any public figures he admires or finds interesting. He says not really, then mentions a random musician. I'm trying to figure out if he follows the manosphere 😭.

The quote tweets dunking on Tyler are pretty disappointing. Unlike y'all he actually personally dealt with Holmes and saw her for what she was when most of you wouldn't have. He's not talking to film majors, he's speaking to the general public. Stop being condescending.

It's really bad, the antisemitism I've witnessed from people who think I'm a friendly audience as a Black woman. It's why I now support MORE the right of Jewish people to have their own country. Even if I don't support the state of Israel's actions, or everything that has been done in the past.

This is actually true. I have been shocked at how comfortable leftist movements have gotten with antisemitism www.meforum.org/mef-online/s...

Not an ai apocalypse doomer or whatever, but entering a world where the normal operation of cybersecurity is vast swarms of hacker bots battling vast swarms of defender bots 24/7 at a scale beyond human comprehension doesn't seem like a *great* path forward.

Anthropic steered away from "sycophancy" and now their models fight you on basic instructions. I don't think that's increased nuance or evidence of being careful, I think it's moral neuroticism. Making a model perform being not!4o is just built in sycophancy to someone's idea of non-sycophancy.

i mean, i think the gay community overcame this largely by having well established networks and trusted interlocutors who could say, e.g., Obama's saying that but he's on our side. structurally that's harder, i think, in several ways for the trans community.

Amy Acton: I'd hoped he wouldn't sink this low, but of course he did. I had a childhood of extreme physical abuse and sexual abuse. As a kid, my brother and I were frequent flyers in children's services. We were finally removed after a grand jury saw evidence that was so, so, so, shocking

I at this point am like 90% convinced that reusable/shareable skills packages are a bad thing for LLM users. The 10% is that it can show you what's possible; the 90% is that people want to be incurious and just slap something in the only person who can effectively guide your tasks is you

I mean you can be in denial all you like, 150% revenue growth in 3 quarters very easily qualifies as red hot growth. I'm personally skeptical they'll be able to maintain the tech moat they need to keep customers without bleeding profitability long-term, but they are OBJECTIVELY growing very fast

Just my 2 cents but I've got a very bad relationship with both parents. Nothing to do with politics, entirely to do with their various and sundry narcissistic and selfish behavior. And it's fine. It's made my life easier and less stressful on net. I don't understand what the big deal is.

That said, it's interesting from a UX perspective that this story is basically "I received $500k in services and was billed 6% of the claim and I am Very Upset."

Americans are not prepared for the level of “no, you just don’t get that” that comes with government health care, not to mention “no you can’t see the doctors you want, here’s the one we assigned” Most Americans are insured. Most Americans’ care will get worse under M4A.

I’ve been saying that I think if we pass M4A we will create the biggest anti-government backlash in the country’s history becuase it will *inevitably*, in the absolute best case scenario, lead to everyone directly blaming the government whenever they’re denied any treatment they want

Just to be very explicit, my claim is that the one simplest and best explanation for this, which resolves any apparent strangeness entirely, is that whoever is “speaking” in LLM output is a fictional character, and the real life thing called an LLM is a machine for writing lil stories about that guy

This audit does not establish anti trans discrimination. It treats people as though they behaved alike while leaving documented harassment out of the comparison. Blocking someone for abuse and blocking them for being trans are different claims. The audit cannot tell them apart!
