I think about procedural/emergent narrative systems for games a lot. https://www.hypermagical.com/

NEW: Remedy's latest game, Control Resonant, is filled with art galleries. The galleries are filled with real art When I began talking to Remedy about it, I was delighted to discover who the artists are: many are the game developers' parents My story... www.gamefile.news/p/control-re...

Still thinking about You Can See Everything and questioning the nature of our own personal realities. No, not the stuff the film focuses on. I'm 99% sure I've seen the car with the LASERS vanity plate on it in the wild in College Station, TX but now I'm like: what if I'm making that memory up?

Like, I distinctly remember wondering if it was owned by a professor at A&M (vibes weren't right) or a defense contractor who exurb'd from Houston (not a ton of that in H-Town) or somebody in the oil industry figured out how to do something with lasers Never even considered Theranos 2.0

Thread 🧵: the fraudulent transgender mailers have a connection back to Dallas, Texas, where a local Republican megadonor used a similar playbook years ago when he funded a fake BLM group to send letters to wealthy white parents that were designed to discredit the BLM movement.

steven monacelli@stevanzetti.bsky.social

CBS identified Illinois based Three Z Printing as the holder of the permit associated with the fake transgender mailers. One of the owners, Matt Zerrusen, is based in Dallas. His Instagram shows pictures with Charlie Kirk and Donald Trump, and comments from local Republicans.

I have mixed feelings about this as an idea. I do think something living on stream like a Bandcamp Weekly for games would be cool, since that kind of thing has gone extinct. But if it becomes "get a spot in that or die" and you get a bad reviewer it's worse than what we have.

I recall someone (was it Craig P) actually pitching Valve about getting unemployed games journalists to actually curate the platform properly. We’d love to kick shit like this off into space.

The @roguelike.club social space is rad because we can run into issues like “ah you’ve accidentally slipped into a past world, rooms that exist and yet do not. We don’t know how to follow you there. We’re not sure what happens when you leave. Please click the obelisk and hard refresh your browser.”

Hey folks, added Car Park Capital to my Steam Curator, an absurd and brilliant satire of car culture with a nice isometric artstyle, feels like the kind of game Bullfrog would've made at their peak, jammed somewhere between Theme Hospital and Dungeon Keeper, except you play even more of a villain.

Do you think they teach you about the Q Continuum at Starfleet Academy? Like, you just have a C3071 'Introduction To The Weird Stuff' class you have to take? Or do they just brief you about it the first time you're on a ship where it's something you should know about?

honestly re: reverse engineering it just kinda blows to see your fun hobby get completely blown up by AI shit and people who love the slop machine because it's faster. AI art and shit at least *most* people correctly loathe + shun it, but too many people think that code isn't similarly creative.

BLS this morning, with revised 2Q data: "The labor share, which is the percentage of output that accrues to workers in the form of compensation, was 52.8 percent in the second quarter of 2026, the lowest level in the series, which begins in the first quarter of 1947."

Your daily reminder that more people are playing and buying PC games than ever before. This is a growing industry. The only reason the industry is struggling is because the people are the top are vacuuming up all the money made to divert it to AI in an unhinged all-in multi-trillion-dollar gamble.

ime a crappy dev will make crappy code faster, an experienced dev might have better results but the tools are designed to nudge you into letting go more and more and reading less and less. its a slot machine in the sense that the machine is designed to make you turn your brain off at every level.

Been doing a thing during the workday the last month or so where I just click a random recent full album on Bandcamp or YT Music and listen to it until I decide it's not for me. Folks are still putting out some good music! Also weird music I find interesting but don't enjoy!

Without the "you also liked" algorithm at full blast like YT has, Bandcamp has a lower overall hit rate but a higher "WTF this is amazing???" rate
