nabbing a 48 GB Phantom Menace remux with Atmos just to watch 15 minutes of podracing at a volume level just under what I think my neighbors next door might be able to hear right before midnight. this is the good that Galactic Racer will bring into your home

I have been meaning to write about this for a month or so now but it breaks my heart. AI has infected every hobby. Everything is noise. It's hurting existing communities and trudging through the slop is exhausting.

yeah I miss Bioware. I also miss Westwood, I miss Origin, I miss LucasArts, I miss Sierra, I miss Looking Glass, I miss SSI, I miss Interplay, I miss Bullfrog, I miss Sensible, just mergers and buyouts and then stripping the fucking copper from the walls and throwing our history in the garbage.

In one session tonight, I got the Zak'Nee in Galactic Racers and beat Sebulba after getting 1sts in every race in Act I. The game is good; even gooder with a real broken build.

a popular discord server I'm on for PSX development released this really milquetoast statement on gen AI discussion because a significant number of newcomers to the scene have a bunch of poopoo in their diapers over other people being mean to them about their slop and their lack of curiosity.

A proposal was shared to create roles for "AI-friendly" and "No-AI" discussions. Users could self-select into either or both roles to see relevant channels. The votes just recently went live and it's almost a 3:1 ratio of "no-ai" to "AI-friendly" votes for roles.

This means that the increased price of RAM and consumer electronics was a result of an artificial "supply chain crisis" created by Jensen Huang pushing NVIDIA's customers to take early delivery of GPUs. Jensen Huang is responsible for making life worse for everyone.

Ed Zitron@edzitron.com

NVIDIA seems to be channel stuffing, forcing Amazon and other customers to take early delivery. The argument that these things are "scarce" when you don't even have anywhere to plug them into is nonsense...unless NVIDIA is saying you NEED to take them now, or else. GPUs are stacked in warehouses.

a skeet with limited reach: my dad just nabbed, for me, a Stanley No. 45 combination plane for $5. It looks like it has some of the original cutters. there's also supposed to be a "box 2" that I believe is for cutting rabbets and maybe dados instead of cutting profiles for moulding. for $5...

Incomplete examples, with just the plane body, will sell for ~$50. As you start to include all of the original components, the price will climb into the several hundred dollar range.

looking forward to restoring this and tuning it up. I have only received this one picture, so i'm hoping the cutters/irons aren't a rusted mess.

Unraid is pretty useful but looking up any information about its integration with Docker is incredibly annoying because they've raised an entire community of people who refer to "Docker images" and "Docker containers" interchangeably as just "dockers" and it drives up absolutely insane.

holy shit the new Plex update is absolute dogwater - it might actually be the thing that gets to to start reconsidering Jellyfin after like 5 years of Plex. I had actually initially resisted Plex as a longtime user of XBMC (and then Kodi), but I was eventually swayed and happy with it for a while.

a staggering amount of you admitted to me in the past 48 hours that you've never played Rez, so today's 10th anniversary of Infinite is your call to go play one of the indisputable Games of All Time immediately

It's the 10th Anniversary of Rez Infinite! Originally released on PS4, with optional PSVR compatibility (which launched the same day)! We thank everyone who has played the game over the years—and isn't this a perfect time to play it again? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6u7aZ64Gxr0

i’m convinced “slowing it down” is because they’ve made promises of ai that are notably not coming to fruition and they want to pretend that’s because they’re being careful instead of admitting they got WAY over their skis

took some time today to practice a new to me technique: creating a round-over with only hand tools. I used a shoulder plane to establish a rabbet (groove at the end of the stock) and then a low angle block plane to do the actual round over. My current bench is less than ideal but I made it work.

This past weekend, I had the opportunity to play a very early #pinball game. Flippers didn't come until later, but pinball's reputation as a game of chance rather than skill persisted long after flippers became ubiquitous.

My setup is rudimentary; two clamps hold a straight scrap of wood on top of the stock. the shoulder plane references against the straight edge allowing me to cut the rabbet.

I emailed the registrar of voters asking why I was moved to inactive. I am attaching the email exchange to this. I feel like we definitely need an explanation from the secretary of state office for what led to this error. What were they doing trying to do to cause this?

Courtney Price@courtneycprice.bsky.social

If you live in Louisiana, go check your voter registration. Even if you already checked. This morning mine was fine. Just now I was showing someone how to check and it had changed me to inactive. So they are changing people to inactive as recently as this afternoon.
