Back in May, Double Fine employees petitioned for a union. Two weeks later, that petition was withdrawn. What happened? https://kotaku.com/inside-the-failed-fight-to-unionize-one-of-gamings-most-idealized-studios-2000742755

This is at once the most mortifying and funniest character arc I've ever seen from a rich kid who I watched be desperate to be famous and considered cool and tried so hard to buy his way into that for over a decade until he stumbled onto a grift which finally succeeded. He's actually like Musk

if tonight and a swift wild card exit is enough to cause a mass suicide event in philadelphia hopefully that means i wont have to go to the office this week

the reaction to the patrick miller 2XKO article is basically why no devs will ever be honest about their process in public and nor should they be. gamers can’t be fucking normal

feel kind of :/ about the wolverine game being singled out as a victim of online negativity because people think it looks a bit shit. the dynamics are real but to suddenly care about them now that people aren’t excited for the new 200 million dollar marvel game is like. ok cmon

So a bunch of sailors on the USS Abraham Lincoln have been trying to jump overboard lately, due to the horrifying conditions aboard the ship. When reached for comment, a military spokesperson said that Justin Bieber Nights will be reevaluated moving forward.

An insane video game-related Lost Media find has quietly popped up on YouTube. Two episodes of "Say Powww!", a 1979 game show about video games that only aired in some markets. People in studio and over the phone played Intellivision (!!) games. Predates Starcade!! www.youtube.com/watch?v=29tJ...

people need to understand that games on steam largely do not ‘underpeform,’ they either hit the algorithmic tipping points and become viral successes or they do not exist. they sell bad day at a garage sale numbers. this is a reality constructed and encouraged by valve

criticism discourse got me thinking about how many game critics have muffled totally reasonable, articulate critiques about tons of things around the game space because they don't want to be perceived as piling onto someone or something who might have been a harassment target of right wing gamers

reading any old thread from a forum for video game discussion before the year 2013 or so feels like archeology on a lost civilization. a world related to but much different from our own.

the sheer amount of gamers genuinely believe the massive layoffs over the last few years are very cool and justified and karmic revenge on western AAA devs for making slop is crazy dude. this is simply not an audience worth sacrificing so much of yourself to please

If you see this account, please block it immediately. This is a well-known grifter that took tens of thousands of dollars from campaign funds in 2024. People in my timeline keep reskeeting them so clearly more people need to know about this.

having written for the same outlet Jay alludes to here, it felt grim even at the time to see this pool of younger, femme, often queer writers make up a bulk of the site - only for most of them quit and/or leave the industry entirely in just those 18 months I freelanced there.
