Something AI is responsible for that doesn't get enough talk: How, when it scrapes a website to illegally steal everything on it, it uses up a ton of its bandwidth allotment, crashing it or racking up massive fees for site owners.
Yet again, the Game UI Database is being scraped to the point that it's getting knocked offline. Even Cloudflare's "I'm under attack" mode isn't working. I just wanted to create a resource for real designers. I'm getting so fucking sick of this.

there is no skill these people don't consider a means to an end they want the experience machine they're begging for their AI models to create it, to hook them up to the machine
Ezra Klein asked Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang about AI making kids worse at math and reading. Huang’s reply: “Does it matter?” Then he said he doesn’t know his own address or phone number. “We’re going to lose some fine intellectual dexterity.” www.nytimes.com/2026/09/23/o...

Valve should lower their rev share portion to 15% for the first $1m a game earns. Not because it would would help small teams survive to make more games (it would), but because they would earn more money in the long term.
I did some very rough calculations using the latest @gamediscoverco.bsky.social data set. Valve's lifetime revenue, since Steam launch, is roughly $100B. If Valve made $0 from every game that made $100K or less they would "lose" $0.5B, the cost of 1 mega yacht. At $1M that number is about $2B

This is set up for laughs, but it’s actually one of the best demonstrations I’ve seen of how being capable of producing convincing sounding language and understanding meaning are two completely different things. A chatbot does not understand you, it just has automated responses based on your words.

And also to my new followers, this is the kind of stuff I've been working on lately, new NPCs for ABYSS X ZERO! Sadly a lot of it is spoiler sensitive, so there are a lot of characters I still can't show 🥲 but you can enjoy a few like this one:
A new NPC I'm modelling for ABYSS X ZERO! Very happy about the hair physics! It was so hard to get it right 😓 Probably the 5th or 6th character inspired by Mana-sama in one way or another, I just can't help it. #gamedev #indiegame #lowpoly #madewithunity

I wonder if he realizes how many of us just immediately lost interest in everything he does knowing that some or all of what we're seeing is AI-generated. It's incredibly damaging to his whole shtick and he'd be dumb as hell to not just renounce it and move on.

have you tried Putting in the Time and Effort Needed for Your Own Hobbies®? ik the hobby, the activity no one forced you to do and is done out of the enjoyment it itself brings regardless of the quality of the little make-believe drawings involved?
"I'm entitled to whatever I want whenever I want it for any reason and I don't care what satisfying these urges does to me or the world" well okay dude, seems like there's something deeper going on here, but that's just my take

I come back to this tumblr post again and again
Nobody wants predictive data models to stop working for the people in medicine. Or translating ancient Pompeii texts. Or the other ways we were already using it. We want it to stop replacing workers, killing the environment, and stealing from artists. Hope that clarifies.

all tech-touched industries were completely hijacked by fin-tech guys because for the few past decades they managed to convince everyone that finance and code are way more complicated than everything else in life so if they work with that they must be generalist geniuses fit to take over anything

Players will never understand what a triumph of the art of game development it is to get doors to do anything at all. 😲 lizengland.com/blog/the-doo...
Big Streets of Fortuna milestone! Doors actually animate now! They've just been popping open and closed for literally years now. It's all uphill from here!

two weeks and counting trying to make my weapon/skill system realize I can't shoot arrows anymore because the bow was swapped for a dagger
Game development is so funny because we have these grand visions of what we want to do but then get stuck spending hours on trivial things like making ESC close the correct UI element.

"We see a future where intelligence is a utility like electricity or water and people buy it from us on a meter and use it for whatever they want to use it for" I remember what happened with Bolivia's privatized water. If you intend a utility to be privatized, prepare for a rough time.
Today Microsoft moved all its GitHub copilot subscribers to token-based billing. If you want to see what happens when people have to pay the actual costs of AI, the day is finally here. It's obvious that every customer sees the deep, meaningful value and isn't angry at all.
