Employers underpay their workers by an estimated $50 billion every year through various forms of wage theft. That's more than every type of property crime COMBINED. DoorDash alone paid a $131.5 million settlement in New York City for underpaying their delivery drivers.

Seattle city council's District 5 has been held by pro-business backed candidates for a long time. Debora Juarez has held this seat on-and-off for nearly a decade. Cathy Moore won the seat in 2024, but resigned 18 months later. There is a special election *right now* to fill the seat until 2028.

Not just on Aurora Ave, but at the site of Julie Kang’s former bank. You know, her bank she was likely forced to sell because of what the FDIC called “violations, reckless unsafe or unsound banking practices, and/or breaches of fiduciary duty.” Oh you didn’t know? 😄 I’ll have to do a thread soon

If you've been paying attention to the news recently, you may be wondering: what's going on in City Hall? What you might not have heard is that we are doing the work and getting real results for Seattle residents.

Mayor Wilson, Councilmember Foster, Councilmember Saka and I are teaming up to ban surveillance pricing at grocery chains in Seattle. Surveillance pricing is a harmful practice where your data is weaponized against you to price gouge. (1/2)

Puget Sound is rich in quality progressive media. I've created a BlueSky feed "Puget Sound's Only News" so we can follow them. Stop feeding the reactionary Seattle Times or the defanged Stranger. Details of who's included & support links at bit.ly/4vHTccZ Subscribe via the # or More Feeds links

Join us today at 2 pm if you can! In person or testify remotely. I wish we were voting on Phase 2 and adopting new neighborhood centers across the City today. 🤷🏻‍♂️ But hopefully we can at least pass legislation to minimize future harmful and unnecessary delays.

Support SEPA reform in Seattle by asking the city council to end predatory delay procedures from city law. The big vote is today! Habitat for Humanity has an online letter 📧 campaign here that is easy to fill out and send: habitatforhumanityseattle.quorum.us/campaign/164...

How should progressives in Seattle vote without using the Stranger? I just filled out my ballot, and this cheat sheet was how. I know a lot about most races. But where I didn’t, I looked at this site. Where there wasn’t consensus, I went to @theurbanist.org to read their excellent analysis.

Are you voting this weekend? Wondering how lefty organizers on the ground are thinking about this primary? ElectionCheatSheet.org has you covered no matter the level of detail! Switch from a quick voter guide, to deep research on each lefty orgs’ endorsement pages, in just a few taps!

Next year is the year of GOP cuts to Medicare and Social Security per Mike Johnson. It’s in Project 2025. Also, they wish to privatize the US mail, and follow endless plans to make more money for billionaires. I won’t do the analysis today, but who do you think pays the price?

Senator Murray is right. Trump’s SCOTUS nominees and their supporters own the overturning of Roe. Everyone knew what confirming Kavanaugh would mean for America, including Will Dreher, who campaigned to put him on the Supreme Court.

Senator Patty Murray@murray.senate.gov

I will not let Republicans off the hook for the pain they have caused and the chaos they have unleashed by overturning Roe v. Wade.   You voted to confirm Trump’s SCOTUS nominees? You own this chaos and suffering.

I’m just floored by the contempt than many in tech have for the humanities. They don’t even try to understand or appreciate what it is we do before arrogantly assuming they can do it better with a non-human machine.

Is craftivism performative? Yes. That's the point. Resistance includes a public demonstration of opposition at accessible events with a low barrier to entry. The red resistance hat pattern has raised $300k for the people of Minnesota. That's not effective?
