Puget Sound is rich in quality progressive media. I've created a BlueSky feed "Puget Sound's Only News" so we can follow them. Stop feeding the reactionary Seattle Times or the defanged Stranger. Details of who's included & support links at bit.ly/4vHTccZ Subscribe via the # or More Feeds links

I live in a rural town and, like, I don't know how to tell you this, but the girls play on the boys team and vice versa all the time because otherwise we don't have enough players for a game and it's literally always fine so stop being weirdos about kids sports and just let trans kids play.

The mayor needs to get serious about getting rid of the SEEC's Wayne Barnett, and the governor needs to dump PDC director Peter Frey Lavallee. Now is not the time to be indulging these clowns, be serious, democracy is in grave danger and they're playing these little games

Paul Chapman reposted

My first thought was Did Wayne Barnett of the SEEC get a promotion or something?

Sorry, since when do state agencies just get to decide a section of RCW is unconstitutional and stop enforcing it?!?

This was a needless elitism on Obama’s part. In the range of American restaurant cuisine, The Cheesecake Factory is *actually good food*, and reliably so. That’s why it has broad working class and petite bourgeoisie appeal. Better: “He’s got the White House looking like Saddam opened a Trump Casino”

A landmarks board member opposing this because it “maximizes housing” should be grounds for immediate removal. @mayor.seattle.gov should step in. These seats are all mayoral selections. Remove this guy

A retrofit to build a new mass-timber addition above the Doyle Building at 2nd Avenue and Pine Street has added six floors since the Seattle Landmarks Board saw it last year. That change is only likely to intensify opposition. Story: www.theurbanist.org/downtown-hig...

Late stage American Capitalism: a company called Warhound grifts a $1.2B valuation to genetically engineer cloned dogs-as-a-service for the U.S. military. Despite the U.S. military using only a couple thousand dogs and despite Warhound not having any dogs.

This is appalling. Please email schoolboard@seattleschools.org to register your objection to closing any schools. This school board was brought to you by The Strangers endorsement committee, as if we need another reason not to trust them.

Robert Cruickshank@robertcruickshank.com

Families across Seattle are getting emails out of the blue from the school district about a new effort to close schools - this time branded as “mergers.” The emails provide no details about which school would close, nor any justification for the effort. It’s an appalling way to treat the public.

A helpfully clear exchange here Hasan: "So your argument is that [Minnesota ICE protesters] should stay at home because immigration is a salient issue for Donald Trump. Opposing ICE is only going to help Trump. Wait until we win the election in 2028." Yglesias: "Yes that is what I would have said"

Washington State’s millionaires tax will fund universal free school meals for every public school student in the state. Unless voters repeal the tax. Vote NO on I-645!

About 2 million kids have lost SNAP since deep cuts were enacted last year. The ripple effects: Kids losing SNAP also lose automatic enrollment for free meals at school. And as more kids lose SNAP, their schools may be forced to drop Community Eligibility.

Tree Action Seattle seems to be taking a break from being anti-new housing to actually do some good — they protested Sand Point Country Club and want to daylight Matthew’s Creek! They should focus on turning Broadmoor Country Club next or taxing them accurately to get funds to plant more trees.

It’s like some personalities just cannot fathom that some of us might enjoy making civic web tools on basically $0 / month just like all other advocacy we do, don’t want fame or cred, nor well funded political consultants to easily launch individualized personal attacks! Unbelievable!

Another reason we have too many governments. All of these bonkers historical protection boards, towns of 500, etc simply don’t have the brain power to manage recording meetings

Ryan Packer@typewriteralley.bsky.social

I don't think standardized, accessible, and timely public meeting recordings are too much to ask for in a democracy.

Guys the Overton window has shifted so far to the right in American politics that you can listen to a video of Reagan talking about immigration and he sounds like today’s run of the mill Democrat. Calling some Democrats conservatives is accurate, unfortunately.
