it really is amazing how accurate the “do you support both Palestine and Ukraine” litmus test has proven to be

I’m sorry to have to be the bad guy here but we need to recognize that we live in a compressed air thrusters world now. If you’re not finding ways to teach the critical use of compressed air thrusters in your classroom, you’re setting your students up to fail when you could be setting them up to fly

I am entirely serious when I say that this should be seen as a moderate position. It specifically and surgically dismantles institutions that did not exist pre-9/11 and assigns their functions much as they were assigned pre-9/11.

Rep. Delia C. Ramirez has introduced a bill that would abolish not just ICE, but the DHS altogether, repealing the 2002 law establishing the agency and replacing it with one focused on protecting civil and human rights.

if you wear a casio watch, the only way to set an alarm is to give it to a two-year-old and let them play with it. the only way to turn the alarm off is to bump your wrist on something eight weeks later. there is no other way to turn the alarm on or off

the reason “AI will create so much abundance we will have a utopian society” rhetoric falls so flat is that the people building it will never, ever share their bounty unless it is taken from them and we all know it

Some of you have forgotten that only three years ago you were perfectly capable of writing an essay, writing a eulogy, telling a bedtime story to a child, and it should worry you that powerful companies have convinced us we can’t do things we’ve been doing for 5,000 years.

This is a very excellent explainer of the scientific reconstruction of the Nepal debris flow. Lots of interactive data and visuals in the report. 23 minutes between the glacial collapse/landslide before it reached the border station.⚒️

I gotta say--and I know a lot of people I like and respect will disagree with me--but I'm 💯 opposed to behind-the-scenes party machinations that push candidates out of races for "strategic" reasons. It totally undermines the purpose of OP/ranked choice voting, and I think disrespects the electorate.

Two private jets operated by Journey Aviation just landed in southern Poland. This is how ICE deports people to Ukraine. Using a third country to send people to an unsafe country, which includes countries at war, is called chain refoulement, and it's banned under a US-ratified treaty.

A new video emerged which seems to show a surface rupture in Yatsushiro, Japan following the M6.8 earthquake in July! Exact location of the video would be 32°30'04.0"N 130°38'29.9"E. Absolutely wild. Only the second ever video of a surface rupture forming after the 2025 Myanmar video! ⚒️🧪 #geology

Ecuadorean fishermen say drones attacked them in the Pacific — English-speaking men in US-flag uniforms, no insignia. 8 missing, several injured. Flight data shows a patrol plane shifting course to stay pointed at all 3 boats. It's on no Pentagon roll, registered to a UPS store mailbox in Virginia.

probably no surprise here, but on the question of "how has the USA spaffed so much of its weapon supply", the answer is mostly Iran, not Ukraine

I wrote this to try and understand why a pilot in a perfectly fine aircraft failed to make decisions to save himself & his passengers. We can never know for sure, but all of the "not doing" in this flight leads me to think it's an example of modern pilots & automation dependence. /1

I have some thoughts on the crash of Bering Air flight 445. I think the NTSB missed an opportunity here to delve into how modern pilots are exhibiting slower reaction time & decision-making due to advances in aviation technology. colleenmondor.substack.com/p/54-bering-...

Years ago I coined the milleneuve, which is a unit to measure how horrible the sky color is based on Villeneuve films. Blade Runner 2049 is around 900mn. Today is around 250 I'd say. (It's a very scientific scale.)

I have had it with this. There was a NOTAM that the GPS jamming activities were taking place in the area. Pilots must check NOTAMs prior to departure, especially commercial pilots. It is part of the damn job. If you need GPS to fly then reconsider your career choices.

Good-faith concern on this issue would be going, "hmm, professional sports leagues should probably have some standards in place to ensure trans competitors aren't getting an unfair advantage," googling for 5 minutes, realizing every sports league already has those standards and dropping it.

Rodger Sherman@rodger.bsky.social

i don't believe anyone has "good-faith" concerns about trans women in sports in 2026. there's been too much time to hear the actual evidence, the actual people affected, and the role the debate plays in attempts to purge trans people from American life. anybody picking that side has made a choice

nicebights.bsky.social reposted

Like the "problem" of "trans athletes," "voter fraud" is right-wing fan fic engineered to fuel the engine of processed outrage and disenfranchisement that keeps us in a MAGA chokehold. They know their policies fail on their merits so they grind hard to ensure as few people as possible get to say so.
