With the disclaimer that our travel was covered for the MinnMax Spotlight and MinnMax is thanked in the credits, I HIGHLY recommend playing Virtue and a Sledgehammer. Physical rage towards a digital world. Pretty wild for a game in development for years to perfectly meet the cultural moment.

I'm going to try to do this cleanly. Today's right wing governments are networked to each other. Those networks are well-documented. You can read about them in books. Following the elections in one node of that network is good practice for understanding the U.S. node.

Dan Mauler 🎃@meelar.bsky.social

I just think Matt's wrong about this. We're at a point in our technological development where a ton of problems spill over national borders--if Flavio Bolsonaro burns down the Amazon, that will flood houses in Miami.

other than the extent to which one is forced to use the technology at work by the boss…… no? and also, what?

dame@dame.is

my nuclear-grade AI hot take that’s sure to get me cancelled until kingdom come is that refusing to use AI at all is rapidly becoming an extremely privileged lifestyle choice that feels social justice-y while actually being the complete opposite

I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.

I honestly don't know what's worse-- actually going into a panic spiral when asked to say three nice things about your own daughter, or pretending that's what happened to advance a public narrative about generative AI.

Everyone who is saying "Dems in red states have to throw trans people under the bus to win" -- no. They don't. When they do that, we just start with no winning options on the table. It gives in to the fascist premise that we get to decide some groups don't get rights. THIS is what I want to see.

BeshearStan@beshearstan.bsky.social

Kansas Dem Sen. nominee Adam Hamilton on trans rights: “I don’t think we should take a small group of people and bully them, pick on them, and hurt them. I understand one thing really clearly when it comes to transgender people, and that is Jesus told me I was to love my neighbor as I love myself”

Wife guy and girl dad, especially when self applied, are red flags of the highest order.

Kath Barbadoro@kathbarbadoro.bsky.social

people gotta stop saying "wife guy", the vast majority of married men like their wives or at least publicly behave as if they do, this is not notable in any way

the handful of die-hard anti-trans voters that exist are going to vote GOP no matter what. so this ad will not pick up a single new voter. all it does is further disenfranchise trans ppl – a marginalized group MAGA hates. this is a pro-MAGA ad & Turek is furthering MAGA's cause by airing it

Erin Reed@erininthemorning.com

Josh Turek of Iowa, Democrat, comes out with one of the worst anti-trans ads yet. Not only is it an anti-sports ad, it proposes a ban on federal funding for gender affirming care. That would hit all medicaid and medicare patients, and any ACA federally-subsidized plans as well. Horrific.

this is literally the first no regret move that would reap INSTANT benefits. low hanging fruit. day one you take this guy out back and put two in the back of his balance sheet and start the deportation proceedings. the rest of them will perk right up. this is easy, easy stuff

i wonder what percentage of the electorate now understands that this man and maybe 75 other people like him are actively trying to destroy our lives. that he is the biggest national security threat we have faced, even moreso than bin laden or whoever. its got to be dawning on more and more people

NEW: Elon Musk gave his super PAC $76 million in just two weeks of October, and more than half of its new candidate spending went to one race: the Texas Senate fight against James Talarico. He’s now given more than $445 million this cycle, far more than he spent electing Trump.

I can't imagine why rich parasites would hate Socialism (where there are no rich parasites), even more than Nazism. Oh no wait... I think I have worked it out.

Popularism has been a total failure. It does not work. Since it became the unquestioned gospel creed of Democratic elites in the latter half of Obama II, they have only had victories after titanic Republican screwups. They were not earned by Democrats. They were cries for help from the public.

An 11 year-old child supported a conman. As an adult, he is having doubts. About Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny also.

Michael Fusella supported President Trump for nearly a decade. But as the Iran war drags on and the cost of living continues to climb, the 21-year-old Republican said he feels betrayed by a president who said he’d end overseas conflicts and lower prices.

This is Jack Ross, who Al Jazeera says offered to link them to a Zimbabwean hitman, sitting with Nigel Farage.

BladeoftheSun@bladeofthes.bsky.social

Turning Point UK Chief Executive Jack Ross was caught on camera by Al Jazeera offering to help introduce someone to a hitman. Surely it is time this Extreme US Right Wing Hate Group was banned as terrorist organization.
