RFK is of course correct, it has been *checks notes* an entire year since an Arab has won a Nobel Prize

I've already seen some effort to bury this as "there's not a lot new here." As if, "What's one more rape victim?" is sound editorial judgment. Republicans kept the Benghazi story going for years on nothing new, but that didn't stop to press from covering every nothing burger they served up.

I think one of the more important skills you can have in 2026 is knowing when someone is performatively using progressive coded language to argue for something that is fundementally not progressive because they can claim a perceived moral high ground.
my nuclear-grade AI hot take that’s sure to get me cancelled until kingdom come is that refusing to use AI at all is rapidly becoming an extremely privileged lifestyle choice that feels social justice-y while actually being the complete opposite

A 2025 Nobel Prize winner in chemistry, Omar Yaghi is the son of Palestinian refugees who grew up in Jordan. He just left the US to move to China after raising concerns about rising anti-immigrant sentiment, like the kind shown here. donmoynihan.substack.com/p/china-than...
RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Nobel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."

Jews and gays stand and fall together because the original Nazism was a hysterical overreaction to the emancipation of both
God, that Cenk Uygur ad for Abdul El-Sayed about how his opponent is for “they/them” (meaning Israel) (sorry I mean (((Israel))) ) is so gross in so many ways, both scarily antisemitic and transphobic, and I’m judging everyone involved

a kinda interesting thing that The Files have shown is “the limits of corporate media’s control of information.” like, this stuff has been frozen out of the discourse of DC and political elites, and the national legislature and news coverage, but it’s still widely known and cared about.
the biggest presidential scandal in history but the political media largely acts as if it's not happening. hasan piker has received more mainstream political media coverage over the last 6 months than trump's connections with epstein has

This is why it was a good line, because yes there are Americans who think of The Cheesecake Factory as a special occasion restaurant but Trump is not one of them. So thank you very much Donald for taking the bait.
Trump is BIG MAD about Obama saying the White House now looks like Saddam opened a Cheesecake Factory: "He's not a smart guy. He's not smart at all ... for you to say it's a Cheesecake Factory, that just shows why you were a lousy president"

have they ever fucked up in the opposite direction, quoting some guy they say is a rando but is actually a dem operative? why is it always republicans?
There are only two explanations for the NYT's habit of presenting GOP operatives and donors as true swing voters: 1. Their reporters and editors are somehow incapable of running a simple Google searches, showing just a staggering level of journalistic incompetence 2. They want to the GOP to win

The vile attacks on Amy Acton need to be seen in the context of a party that *needs* people to believe women fabricating sexual assaults is common as rainwater. Because it’s pretty much the only way to evade the conclusion that the president is a rapist.
Beyond disgusted by even more rape allegations against the President of the United States. "In total, more than 25 different women...have independently accused Donald Trump of rape, sexual assault, or other sexual misconduct." Report w/ new details: democrats-judiciary.house.gov/sites/evo-su...

Secret third thing (American angry about having to hear about British politics)
Even money whether the sane Brits are angrier about always having to hear about American politics or the sane Americans are angrier about having to hear insane Brits opining on American politics with negative amounts of knowledge.

Our political system hasn't decided that Donald Trump isn't a rapist. it has decided that it's ok that he's a rapist.
NEW: "Donald Trump was an active participant in Jeffrey Epstein’s sexual abuse of young women during the mid-to-late 1990s," per new House Judiciary Dem report. Report has new allegation that Trump raped a 24-year-old and then promised the victim a visa & NYU admission, demanding she stay quiet.

Well. There’s that Republican guy in PA who invited people to vote using his address. There is also the president.
Trump: "Anybody reporting Voter Fraud in the past Elections, or the upcoming 2026 Midterm Election, will be paid $1,000,000 upon the arrest and conviction of those that created the Fraud! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP"

The “something” in question was the workers themselves deciding by 1966 that they no longer wanted New Dealer welfare capitalism if it meant black Americans would benefit from it while anti-war protesters were free to burn the flag
Something happened in the 70's that crystallized politics (and many other topics) into a new set of assumptions and priors. It gave rise to Reaganism and completely crushed New Deal Socialism; Dems that eventually reemerged were and still are centrists scared of their own shadows.

i think "vote dem across the board, but for the 4 very worst dems on trans rights you can leave them blank" is a reasonable position (& a reasonable compromise between vbnmw & fears about dems going full uk labour)
The elections are on next Tuesday, and so much is at stake, including the soul of the Democratic Party when it comes to transgender people. I am asking you to leave a very small number of races blank in which a Democrat has embraced extreme anti-trans hate. I make my case here.

Yes: everyone was preparing how to manage the aftermath of the war they very much weren’t winning.
An overwhelming and never-to-be-repeated factor in Trump’s success is that sober professionals fully believed that he was *obviously* about to be ushered offstage, and their job was to keep things running “as usual” until that happened. Which required pretending no POTUS would do what he was doing.

This is what Love Lies Bleeding got right about the 80s: everything in the 80s wasn’t neon and bright colors and crazy prints. Everything was fucking Brown
That's the bit everyone gets wrong. They try to look like the 80s/90s and they pick whatever was in fashion or what was on TV show sets at that time. Most people lag about a decade behind whatever the furniture and decor trends are because they only buy stuff when they need to replace them.

fuck you. trans people come to Minnesota from neighboring states to get lifesaving care that they’re only able to safely get here because of a set of party line Dem votes.

Look, I've seen this stance a lot. And it is fundamentally wrong. "These children should just have to be unpaid tutors of their classmates" is an incredibly toxic perspective. If only because 99% of the time they're not particularly good at it.
"But what do we do with the gifted kids, they'll just sit in class and twiddle their thumbs?" I don't know, I guess it's impossible for them to help their classmates, or work on a project in class that uses their curiosity and also teaches their classmates something. <shrug> Guess we can't!
