The California Labor Movement stands in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Minnesota as they protest ICE’s actions and declare Friday a day of no work, school or shopping. (1/3)
In order to keep the @nerdykeppie.bsky.social FB page active, I post random shit I make in mobile graphics programs with random stock photos.
This made me laugh to make.
Premise is there's numerous former Trump supporters (a) with a change of heart (b) who will change back if Dems don't flatter them. There are trivially few such people, if any.
In reality, Dems need to win back nonvoters. They won't do that by trying to placate Trumpers, they'll just look weak.
Saving America from Trump and preserving our democracy explicitly requires that people who voted for Trump change their mind. Which in turn requires that those who didn’t vote for Trump show grace and empathy to those whose change of heart came from being hurt by the guy they voted for…
some thoughts on Newsom:
1. the reason I am desperate for Literally Anyone Else to be the standard bearer is specifically his stance on trans rights - he's been bad on other issues, like homelessness, but I really worry he'll lead the Dems towards Labour if he's the guy in charge
There is no one enabling act, nor will there be one.
This is because the Supreme Court chooses which bad acts to enable, and so far their answer to Trump is, "almost all of them."
Ex-farm worker here.
We need to talk about this whole "But a living wage for farm workers would spike the cost of food!" thing.
Not true AT ALL.
Y'all don't understand how fast experienced farm workers are.
The average tomato picker pulls 650lbs per hour.
At $20/hr, that's $0.03/lb for labor.
Bill Ackman’s post about Tucker Carlson and Jeffrey Epstein has an interesting explanation for why he believes he became a billionaire:
“I inherited good genes from wonderful parents who instilled good values in me.”

Every human being who has ever picked a strawberry in the USA gets citizenship tomorrow: That’s the moderate position.
The radical position is distinguished by what happens to ICE employees after that.
The right-wing backlash against #Superman this week got me thinking: Has this happened before?
That led to the discovery of these headline — from April 1940, when the official newspaper of the SS took umbrage at the comic book hero and ridiculed its creators.
My how times change ...
The ICE camps are concentration camps. They should be called concentration camps.
It is, of course, important to distinguish between concentration camps and death camps, but also, I am not sure we will know when or if we undergo the transition from concentration camps into death camps.
Mfer, they're not being called concentration camps, gestapo, and nazis for no reason.
They are actively using the holocaust as a blueprint and their very open about that fact.
These bullshit semantics are part of what got us here because it does nothing but give them "plausible deniability"
Comparing random staff at the Prairieland Detention Center to guards at Auschwitz is an insult to the memory of the Holocaust. It is not a death camp.
We can criticize ICE's actions and fight for due process and justice without diminishing the memory of one of history's greatest atrocities.
Once again, again, again:
The true driver of antisemitism is white supremacy.
The true driver of antisemitism is power.
“Blame the Jews, not me!”
Who is trying to elide blame?
Who are the people being asked to do the blaming?
Always use your power analysis.

Andry José Hernández Romero, I remember you, even if I do not know how to articulate my horror, rage, & sorrow at your treatment by my government.
No one has heard from you in 97 days.
As vigil, I’m posting a photo (or video) of you every day until you are returned from El Salvador.
“The best way to honor our parents' memory is to do something, whether big or small, to make our community just a little better for someone else."
Beautiful statement from Sophie and Colin Hortman.
The day started with tragedy with political violence in MN and instead of being scared, neighbors SHOWED UP to stand together at No Kings Twin Cities. We packed the Capitol Mall all the way to the Cathedral. Estimate 80,000+ right now. So proud of our state. #nokings#indivisible
We’ve heard reports of guidance for DHS to “pause” raids on agricultural worksites— and we’re skeptical.
As long as Border Patrol and ICE are sweeping through farm worker communities making chaotic arrests like they did TODAY, they’re still hunting down farm workers.
The US is openly, proudly engaging in collective punishment targeting a family, including 5 children.
Undemocratic, to say the least, but also a deeply disturbing trend that could lead to much worse in the future.
Just as gross is seeing the way these "anti-hate" groups salivate over it.
If I'm reading this correctly, then Yarvin wants the role of führer to be awarded via a Wings of Voice-style competition www.newyorker.com/magazine/202...
I do not want Gazans to be burned alive. I do not want Jewish people to be set on fire. I do not want these things for any human being.
This is not a difficult position to hold or believe.
Unbelievably horrified by this attack in Boulder. We don’t know the full story of the attacker, but no matter what it is, let me be clear: Senseless, antisemitic attacks do not help Palestinians, Jews, or Israelis.
Committing terror attacks against people standing for hostages is disgusting.
Caring about hostages isnt even necessarily supporting Israel at this point! This is so horrifying. There is no justification for throwing Molotov cocktails at people marching peacefully and it will do nothing to help Palestinians. It only energizes those weaponizing antisemitism

MAGA: We demand a Govt based on the Bible!
Me: Ok great. Let’s start with Deuteronomy 15: “At the end of every seven years you must cancel debts. This is how: Every creditor shall cancel any loan they have made.”
MAGA: Not that part of the Bible

Remember — saying you don’t like carpet bombing children is anti-Semitic, but owning assets called “FUCK THE JEWS” and “Swastika Coin” is absolutely not.

My dad was in choppers in Vietnam. He told me that the troops there invented a term.
