If heโ€™s expecting Klassen to be a better person for this heโ€™s gonna be disappointed. Stranger things have happened but dude is a political hack. My money is on him building to a mayoral run in 28

Vancouver, BC gets about 335 rideable days a year by my rules: 308 green and 27 yellow. I set green above 3ยฐC and red below 1ยฐC. Find your number with Bike-Rideable Days by Shifter.

Let me be clear: BC did not veer sharply right in this election. Doerkson carefully campaigned as a moderate, which was crucial to his success. Even so, the BC Conservatives still lost votes in absolute terms compared with 2024! NDP stayed home in droves. That's the story here.

Absurd that she was in law enforcement but just shrugs at the highest of crimes and says don't try. No wonder people lose faith in their system.

Kamala Harris: I think that going in the direction of impeachment is not a good idea. I was in the Senate for the last go-round, and the votes arenโ€™t there. I think after the election, we all have to just also agree that our attitude has to be to get stuff doneโ€ฆ

Ok so as I understand it, weโ€™ve clearly under invested in water infrastructure in the City (among others) for decades and is no to a rate increase, no to property taxes, no to provincial taxes and a provincial transferโ€ฆ.so continuation of crumbling infrastructure. Got it.

NEW: The Calgary Chamber of Commerce is calling on city council to reject the proposed increases to water rates with concerns the hikes would place an unreasonable financial burden on local businesses.

My host asked if I wanted a drink of water. I froze, overwhelmed. I like hard, complex problems, but there were so many dimensions and it quickly left me lost. I turned to Claude and it pointed out that I need water to survive. I pushed back but eventually agreed, and accepted the water. #thankful

This Day in Labor History: October 27, 1948. An air inversion trapped the pollution spewed out by U.S. Steel-owned factories in Donora, Pennsylvania. The Donora Fog killed 20 people and sickened 6000 others. Let's talk about this deadly legacy of industrial pollution. That photo was taken at noon!

From Auckland to Vancouver, inner-ring neighborhoods are reserved for the rich to have low-density housing next to the downtown job center. This is regressive and inefficient, creating sprawl and forcing everyone else into long commutes.

One lingering surprise from the provincial election is that MDG didnโ€™t try to take credit for Yaletown being overturned. Like โ€œfirst millennial to lose that riding paved the wayโ€

1. This wasn't a change of hearts election 2. The NDP could make a comeback with the right leader. 3. The Cons didn't win over BC, they shouldn't get complacent. 4. The Greens reversed their 2024 decline but also didn't break through or even return to 2017/2020 levels. Every party has work to do.

At some point, BC media needs to contend with the airtime they give to Angelo Isidorou & their role in completely laundering his image. Isidorou has never walked back his white nationalist bs or his decision to, for example, platform neo-Nazis through the UBC Free Speech Club.

Will the BC Liberals symbiote will find a discontented host with Rustad/KLF remnants? Can Lorne hold off Cristy Clark as she tries to reanimate her career? They got power before the coup could settle, but infighting wonโ€™t stop them from wrecking a lot.

Today should be the day when as a historian I console myself that lots of guys who want to shove First Nations out of the way so they can chop down forests have been premier of BC - it's fine! But history rarely consoles, even when it explains.

Already a million great elxn takes. I'm remembering this post I made 2 yrs ago (about the Fed NDP, but Prov quickly did the same). I could be wrong ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ But the NDP capitulating on so many progressive issues seems like it gained them ~0 conservative votes, while losing them thousands of supporters.

This iteration of the BC NDP sure is sad they couldn't just disqualify the Conservatives from this race. A mess from the start. A lack of political literacy that looks indifferent from incompetence.

A lot of this mess should hang on Eby, but the party needs a good look at itself. When it suddenly had to show what it stands for, it had little to coherently offer and could only say โ€œchoose us so the others donโ€™t get in.โ€

David Eby thought that his opponents being in disarray was the same thing as him being popular. I have never seen a base so disappointed in thier own party. Whatever happens today is 100 percent his fault for being so oblivious to his own constituents. #Vote

Tonight David Eby is going to resign, and then hand the province over to a group dedicated to screwing over First Nations. So seriously, f*ck him, his ego and greed for doing this, and wasting all our time for the next 4 years, fighting them.
