My online girlfriend was so shocked by the Ukraine drone strike on the Russian data centre that she's been too upset to message me all day.

"By using AI, tasks like essays that used to take hours can be completed in minutes!" Sure, like how if I arrive at the gym and immediately go for a shower, my workout is done in record time. And if I throw my sandwiches straight in the bin, I can finish my lunch in under 10 seconds.

I'm convinced AI is our generation's radium - a discovery with genuinely useful applications in specific, controlled circumstances that we stupidly put in everything from kid's toys to toothpaste until we realised the harm far too late where future generations will ask if we were out of our minds.

This new Irish government ad promoting the beef and dairy industry played in the cinema yesterday, and I nearly merged into my seat due to the cringe. See how long you can last.

Do you think the whole >10% thing is a symptom of the AI industry knowing the bubble-burst is almost here so they're actively encouraging governments to intervene, ban their work, and bail them out to stop them progressing? @edzitron.com

25 years since this thing came out. I’m very fond of it, it’s possibly the most personal thing I’ve made and, if I’m allowed to be proud for a day, I’m rather proud of it. All 8 eps up on Channel 4. #TheArmandoIannucciShows #Ch4 #ABigEgg

The Armando Iannucci Shows Comedy Channel 4 (TalkBack) 30 August - 18 October 2001 Each episode focused on specific themes related to human nature and existentialism, around which Iannucci would weave a series of surreal sketches and monologues.

Not sure giving me a heart attack thinking the nukes are on their way was necessary to persuade me against using disposible BBQs tbh

Comparing coverage of the Belfast and Edinburgh attacks, it seems that if politicians politicise and racialise a crime, then it will get far more attention than a crime that is in itself political and racist but doesn’t serve a political agenda. That’s not a good message

The attacks in Edinburgh, in which an armed bare-chested white man terrorised Muslims, leaving five people injured, don't feature on a single newspaper front page this morning. Two tier journalism

If the bloke wielding a knife and attacking passersby was a Muslim all today's rolling news and political programmes would be coming live from the streets of Edinburgh and Farage's ugly mush would be on every show.

It has been ten years since Jo Cox MP was murdered by a far-right extremist while serving her constituents in Batley and Spen. Today, we pause to remember Jo and her belief that “we have more in common than that which divides us”.

Today, we remember Jo Cox, who was murdered ten years ago. In her maiden speech, Jo famously said: “We are far more united and have far more in common than that which divides us.” Ten years on, those words are a powerful reminder to us all: We have far more in common than that which divides us.

Bold move by the crossword writer in the UK's i newspaper. But they likely realised that the typical Reform Party fan doesn't do cryptic crosswords so they're maybe safe from their ire. For those struggling with it - the key for is primary - take the first letters of the words.
