What is the BBC's justification for maintaining this level of coverage of Reform now it has slipped into third place?
BBC News just interrupted its coverage to go, live, to Nigel Farage - a man with no contitutional standing in our setup - responding to the budget - a document which nobody has seen yet. WHY

Selling out Britain’s future goes back to Thatcher. Had we invested oil/gas revenues we’d have a fund worth £1 trillion now. Selling off assets at less than they were worth (think council houses/utilities) + spending not investing the proceeds trashed the UK’s balance sheet

What is Kemi Badenoch’s new big idea? Exactly the same as the Conservatives’ old big idea: unfunded tax cuts. It’s the lack of imagination as much as the fiscal incontinence that stands out torstenbell.substack.com/p/kemis-big-...

There’s nothing honourable about infecting care homes with covid, not giving staff adequate protection & lying to the public that you’ve done the opposite. People died & families suffered because of him. The least we can do is strip him of ever being referred to as honourable again. c.org/RjxYyjWbj4

In case it still needs saying, the tech-bros do not believe in "free speech". They believe in "power": power to lift themselves above any limits on or consequences for their own speech, and power to determine what speech can be seen or heard by others.

no kings includes billionaires who think they’re kings
Meta took down the No Kings instagram; TikTok banned the Musk documentary account for supposedly violating its political posting policies. A reminder that platforms are owned by the wealthiest of people, control the means of media distribution, & put their thumbs on the democracy scale as they wish

A few months of low rainfall after three years of abundance should not lead to the position we are now in. That is why shortages are manmade. Short-termism, Nimbyism and the prioritisation of shareholder returns over sustained supply are coming home to roost.
Just to add to the fun, it looks like the absolute disaster of a drier than normal autumn/winter is going to become a reality in much of England. That is going to take us to places next summer we have not been for decades. A manmade catastrophe is approaching.

One fifth of our precious, life-essential water supplies are lost by privatised, profiteering companies due to leaks. You'll have to scroll a long way down this piece before you see even an oblique mention of this. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Yeah, they're currently very silent on the Oxford academic standing trial for possessing indecent child images But then she's shared their platforms, spoken at their events, written for their publications... Funny how the Free Speech Union have nothing to say about the vanishing media coverage?

Maybe an FOI will get to the bottom of why LBC, the Telegraph, GB News and the Daily Mail all pulled their reporting on this? Why only the BBC and now the Daily Mail are covering it? Why Hopwood-Phillips - now a registered sex offender - barely gets a mention? Who knows🤷♀️

NEW: Kemi Badenoch’s flagship party conference policy document, The Right Way, overestimated the cost of net zero by nearly £500bn, seemingly after someone accidentally double-counted figures on a spreadsheet. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

ICE shot someone else, this time in New York. For context, ICE is an out-of-control US paramilitary wing tasked with kidnapping people to keep corporate prisons filled so politicians can launder billions in profits back to themselves, while trafficking people across the planet.
ICE's expansion became a multibillion-dollar business: CoreCivic sold four facilities to DHS for $2.2B, GEO won major contracts, while Trump's investment accounts traded detention contractors and held stakes in firms benefiting from ICE spending.

Tories totally unfunded tax cut for the wealthiest latest: they’ve hugely underestimated the cost of their policy and therefore the borrowing splurge their plans would cause. This is absolutely mad approach to economic policy making - totally giving up on fiscal credibility
Kemi Badenoch wants to exempt the family home from inheritance tax. But that creates a perverse incentive for elderly people to *upsize* to save IHT. That could double the cost of the policy, and push £100bn+ from savings into housing. A 🧵 on bad tax cuts.

Voters loathed the Tory party when they booted them out in 2024.They really needed to shake off their disgrace with humility and better ideas. They haven’t. They’ve doubled down. More Brexit, more austerity, more anti-immigration ugliness, more tedious arrogance… and no good reason to vote for them.
