NEW: "Donald Trump was an active participant in Jeffrey Epstein’s sexual abuse of young women during the mid-to-late 1990s," per new House Judiciary Dem report. Report has new allegation that Trump raped a 24-year-old and then promised the victim a visa & NYU admission, demanding she stay quiet.

This post is incredibly important. "Dignity" sometimes feels like an ephemeral thing, difficult to pin down. But you know INSTANTLY when it's taken from you.

A nation succeeding at developing an industry isn’t stealing anything. But what do I know? I’m not an expert like this pampered, corrupt dementia patient running a money-laundering operation while pretending to be a big, tough builder.

Trump: "Look, if we had smart presidents, the Taiwan problem with China wouldn't exist. Nobody would care. They stole our chip business. All of it. 100 percent."

This article is incredibly well done, both for its reporting content, and for it's profile of this despicable cop. I imagine that if you could've interviewed a guard at Dachau in 1943, their responses to questions would be substantially similar to the responses in this piece.

So as I headed to Ingram for the first time in March, I wanted to know who the local faces of the national immigration crackdown were. Who was driving the black Dodge Charger? www.propublica.org/article/depo...

This piece does a great job making the point that, our bankrupt jurisprudence around police use if force not withstanding, the cops should not be allowed to create the circumstances that create danger, and then kill people because of they very danger they created.

NEW: Elon Musk gave his super PAC $76 million in just two weeks of October, and more than half of its new candidate spending went to one race: the Texas Senate fight against James Talarico. He’s now given more than $445 million this cycle, far more than he spent electing Trump.

Not to be a broken record here, but he's doing this because the the sexual abuse of children is a policy goal of the Republican Party. They do it themselves, their elected officials use their powers of office to ensure it continues, their primary electorate punishes dissidents on the issue.

this remains a great study of the estranged parents movement, and one of the almost universal features of these narratives is the missing missing reasons--the extreme caginess with which these parents present the events that led to the estrangement

The other category of coverage is *extremely* implausible first-person accounts from estranged parents. According to this woman, her son cut her off after she was mildly rude to his fiance's family a single time. There's no way this is the entire story. www.goodhousekeeping.com/relationship...

It’s not just that GOP Senator Ron Johnson is aping Russian propaganda, which is quite bad on its own, but that he’s aping absurd Russian propaganda that falls apart under the slightest scrutiny, all to justify blatantly illegal aggression and mass killing, against a democratic US partner no less.

The taking pictures of what people are texting in public trend is pretty psycho. Like yeah most of the time what they’re texting about is pretty embarrassing or bad or whatever, but normalization of looking over stranger’s shoulders and surveilling them for #content is pretty psycho!

Have to be clear just how dangerous this is. If it continues, it effectively removes constitutional rights from an entire class of people. Imagine you had to fear that if you criticize the regime, any error on paperwork filled out by your family decades ago could be used to strip your citizenship.

This is a great thread about the fact that a lot of conspiracies in the real world don't resemble The X-Files. Rather than shadowy men meeting in secret and concealing their activities, it's just shitty men meeting in the open and publicly planning to do evil.
