Where are the Meta share holders and pension funds? Apart from building the original stalking women feature of Facebook fuckerberg has doing nothing but burn through money since

I very much doubt he spent 100 thousand million $ on salaries of programmers over the span of 2-3 years. They had 60-80k employees. Not all worked on VR. I am guessing you looked at the market cap that dropped briefly around 2022 when Zuck went full metaverse.

the video was taken down, Meta owns Oculus which is all VR so if this is regarding that I don't see an issue, if you create a VR gaming platform it will cost a lot of money to create the hardware and software.

This is what happens when really really bad leadership amasses lots and lots of money and power. Keep in mind VR is one of several industries displaying these "race to the bottom" characteristics in the last decade. I can only think this is what critical mass looks like.

This is such blatant money laundering. Ain't no way. You got tons of talented 3d artists and game developers making amazing work out there. You could employ hundreds of them and come out with a figure FAR lower than this for a product of astronomically higher quality.

Sunk cost fallacy on the scale of a GDP of a mid-wealth level nation, resulting in a well-funded broadcast essentially admitting “our work culture is pretty clearly desperate and toxic”

Remember a lot of acquisitions are to get the "freedom to act" aka patent acquisitions. Others are just to stop the competition either directly or indirectly. Direct is buy the competitor, indirect is buy something the competitor depends on. This is why we have only three of most anything.

If I was super rich I would build a high speed rail system that was the fastest and prettiest in the world, that brought all of American up to the 21st century. I would build massive libraries and learning centers in rural counties, coast to coast accessible bike/hiking paths with hut to hut bars

I just did some googling and it looks likely this is it: The FT estimates $80m since 2014. Meta said they spent $19.9 last year and will increase investment this year. So FT project total reaching $100b this year @aftermath.site should ideally share their sources www.ft.com/content/c513...

ft.comMeta’s investment in VR and smart glasses on track to top $100bnTech group reveals it put $19.9bn into its Reality Labs division, which develops its smart glasses and headsets, last year

Napkin math of $100 billion ÷ $4000 (for a headset and rig good enough to run VR) would mean they could have just given 25 million people the hardware to use their platform and establish a usable market to actually begin selling their product.

Given the history of innovation on the internet, that's probably what it will take for it to improve in quality... (Not saying good or bad, just saying...)

I mean, I can see how you could blow $100,000 on this prototype ... *hang on I've just been handed a piece of paper with six zeros written on it*
