Hassett: "President Trump and I actually think that there isn't a reason right now to raise rates ... it's pretty important for the Fed to just leave things alone ahead of an election to preserve its independence"

Raising rates now, would prove their independence as they are acting independent of the election and doing what they believe is right for the economy, not the election.

The same president that doesn't know who pays a tariff and what a trade deficit should not have a say in fiscal policy

They are independent, doing what you want makes them not, and Republicans all need voted out, unfortunately voters have to suffer badlt before they wake up, they have to learn Trump and Republicans are the same they need to hate both.

Yep. If it looked like rates were going to go down he wouldn’t be saying this. He’d be saying the Fed is obligated to and must lower rates despite being close to an election. 🙄

Beyond tired of listening to the cult of trump (aka the gop) mention things like independence and sacredness of elections. These traitors can all get fucked. They’ve ruined the country and got rich doing it. I want justice.

Wouldn't independence be defined by doing what is best for the economy regardless of elections & political pressure? Fuck Tapper, you want to be a respected journalist, ask a damn follow up question & make him explain himself because this is bullshit!

in other words, we’ve already told the puppet to leave rates the same. If they move, it won’t be him. It will be the others, and it will be them violating election norms.

interest rates will go up without the Fed raising them; companies, states, & cities that need to borrow will pay more, as will consumers. Because trump's incompetent & disastrous war is not just adding to national debt, it's increasing inflation, which also drives up interest rates.

Curious, normally the fed raises interest rates because the economy is doing too well and to slow it down. But in this case, the economy isn't doing well, it's just external factors such as tariffs and oil artificially enhancing economic output. What effect would resisting rates have now?

The correct answer is really to stop doing all the stupid stuff that's harming the economy, but that won't be what they go for, you know? It's so frustrating. Their "solution" will hurt more people because their leader will be butthurt if anyone suggests he's wrong about literally anything.

I really dislike bringing up a person's appearance since it is mostly a non-factor compared to listening to what they're actually saying...but Kevin's perpetual evangelical preacher smirk/smile really gets on my nerves. I've always seen that look as a red flag. It applies here. Same for Bessent.

There's a BIG difference between someone's appearance and their facial expressions. He doesn't have to smirk, but he does it anyway... nonverbally communicating his contempt for us.

Trump is bad, evil as hell, and stupid as old dry bread and naturaly Trump loves AI, he need it...because he has not a bit of own intelligence. He only is great in blackmailing... this bloodsucking tick !
