Can we get a way to dismiss and hide Recommended topics? I’m getting a lot of irrelevant crap. NOT through muting please! I don’t want to mute “beauty” to stop recs on cosmetics, but end up hiding posts talking about the beauty of wildlife! Just stop the recommendations.

if Bluesky's "Trending Topics" isn't working with Firefox (desktop) when uBlock Origin is enabled try disabling uBlock Origin, refreshing the Bluesky page, then re-enabling uBlock Origin

All I really want is for there to be an option to have it influenced by what topics you’re interested in. But maybe it respecting mute word lists will be enough. This also makes me want shareable mute word lists more.

Ad/Tracker blocking hides the Trending Topics for me. I disabled it and they show (but the topics are all of no interest to me, so I turned blocking back on). Bluesky might want to fix this, as it will be a support nightmare. I use DNS blocking. Not sure how other blocking impacts the Trends.

Being limited to English sounds like a very good idea. On the ex bird site, now a letter site, trending is always full of swear words, basic words like "what" and "is", and then sometimes odd forms of actual things like "on television" (note the preposition!)

Would it be possible to add a direct translation button for posts? Currently, clicking to translate opens a different app, which is somewhat inconvenient. I recall seeing a setting for this initially, but I don't remember what I selected and am unable to change it now.

There was a post a while back for their rough plans for premium benefits saying bookmarks would be part of that. So that will probably be when that feature gets rolled out.

We love this!! 💙🦋💙🦋💙 Suggestion: It would be nice to know how often it updates (how quickly it responds to trends happening on the platform) and putting them in a ranked order would be helpful. Also, a bit of detail as to the circumstance of the trend. Why it’s trending. 💙

An aside: your Recommended category at the same location shows me things that are absolutely uninteresting to me, though which I’m sure all have big followings. To me, that category should reflect my demonstrated interests, not overall popularity for the general population.

Well, for me. I’m glad Bluesky did this because without anyone to associate with under a feed. This app can be a bit of an empty void. So trending can show what’s happening on the app. Also, I don’t have to go to the other side of the tracks for trending topics.

Dear Bluesky team, is it possible to change the name of the 'I like' symbol (the heart) to the more neutral 'I agree'? I just can't 'like' a post about eg. a mass shooting, or the genocide in Gaza, etc. It's just an extra way for Bluesky to make a big difference!

Do you have a reference? That wouldn't be open source. I just looked at the "trending" code that was recently added to Bluesky. It is there for anyone to look at. Bots will always make a million different looking posts to make something seem popular. Hiding algorithms won't protect against that.
