Target blatantly lied to its core consumers about its companies culture with false narratives of promoting product lines by women of color, LGBTQ+ initiatives, women’s equality and more. Pushing a false narrative to create “community” in order to profit is disgusting.

Yeah, plenty of of companies have rolled back DEI and minority outreach that haven’t seen this level of backlash. Target’s unique because they were all-in and then turned on a dime. It’s the depth of the betrayal

And can't be undone by replacing one guy, especially if another white dude is chosen as next CEO. I wonder if they have learned anything from this FAFO experiment, though.

I always bought Target pride stuff because seeing it on the shelves made me feel seen. The pride stuff disappeared from shelves, so it also disappeared from my shopping cart. If it’s not visible, there’s no point and I’ll spend my money on queer artists instead 🤷

According to AP News, “When Fiddelke takes over, Cornell will transition to be executive chair of the board.” Not much accountability for a reported a 21% drop in net income in the quarter that ended Aug. 2.

NB: This is no reason to stop boycotting and destroying Target. No mercy. No quarter. The oligarchy and its power sources must be dismantled piece by piece.

Target lost its whimsy long ago, the DEI stuff just opened our eyes to it. I started shopping there bc it highlighted cool artists of color and new brands that needed a chance (ie dei…) Now it’s just another Shopko. It’s boring, expensive and made pride weird.

imagine having all this wonderful general goodwill for your brand and a cute little nickname, then choosing to throw it all away to be more racist and homophobic

yeah but they gave him mils in severance then just side stepped him down to a board position that actually came with a bump in pay overall. this was just more virtue signaling from them, smoke and mirrors

Aww was it bad for them to call so many of us not good enough to work there, or design for, or consider human at all? Gosh, it's like saying they want most of us gone and then us going "ok bye" was a major miscalculation.

Maybe listen to the people and stop being hateful and disregarding diversity and equity of humans. Humans buy your goods and humans work for you. It's all you have. Why don't you respond to them according to their wishes?

When your whole brand is "we're Walmart for people who aren't Walmart people" and then alienating all the not-walmart people, what happens?

Also why their expansion into Canada went poorly years ago. “We’re Walmart for people who arnt Walmart people” didn’t work there because there was no division or othering of Walmart people. Everyone went there.

I stopped shopping at target because the quality of their children's clothing is horrible (literally no cotton of any kind, all cheap, synthetic garbage.) and they have the worst refund policy in the retail market. Don't need em have lots of other choices.

is insanely weird that these corporations pretended like DEI was anything more than a marketing/branding exercise to include all races and genders in their customer base. Oh wow, when we only market to white people and say it out loud, people who aren’t white racists are less interested in shopping!

Looks like the Target boycott is working. Target’s MAGA, racist CEO Brian Cornell is finally out. But don’t go back to Target yet. First, let’s see if Target recommits DEI & pushes back against Trump. Target better hurry up. Before it goes under. #BoycottTarget www.cnn.com/2025/08/20/b...

The failure steps down instead of reversing course and addressing the plainly presented problem. Amazing. Predictable. @target hire me as CEO I'll bring woke back its your only chance

Target is right near my daughter's college apartment. It would be really helpful to her if they would return to their old ways: like when they said years ago trans people could use whichever restroom they identify with, even in red state Targets. That was COOL.

I used to shop at Target at least once a month, and weekly during back to school shopping. I think I have been there twice this year. As a mom with a disabled child, DEI is a top issue for our family. They chose the FAFO path.

Target had the “progressive woman” millennial demo who for some reason felt “better” going into “TAR-shjay” than Walmart. Now that good feeling is gone. This stupid man ruined his company by refusing to lean into his customers. Leaning away from DEI, or vocal plurality…? inexplicable

He put the target on himself (no pun intended) bc he didn’t have to do any of this. The anti DEI dummies didn’t know Target even had DEI initiatives. All he had to do was leave things as they were. Terrible leadership.

They did it to themselves. They had a great thing going. But they want to be aligned with the Trump administration and save a few bucks. Young people like diversity. More people want it than not. Maybe MAGA will pull you out of your slump, but don't hold your breath. I wouldn't shop at Target.

Good example how boycotts do work! Boycotting. protesting making phone calls, going to town halls, etcetera. it all matters. Thank you to all. Stay hydrated We're in this for the long run. 💙
