The people who are most vulnerable to the hard-to-breathe air that comes with climate change may inadvertently be adding to the problem, new research finds. https://cnn.it/4pWQMoh

FUCK YOU FOR PUTTING THE CLIMATE CRISIS AT THE FEET OF INDIVIDUALS WHEN YOUR MILITARY HAS A BIG ENOUGH CARBON FOOT PRINT TO DESTROY THE PLANET MANY TIMES OVER. You’re a disgrace. Your country is a fascist cesspool of maggot-ridden filth. Don’t take shots at people who are just trying to live. FUCK

The methods they used assume that people are just releasing the inhaler into the air. They are INHALING it. The authors make no effort to try to estimate what fraction of the propellant gets absorbed by the body. Just bad science.

i have good news, they are not adding to "the problem" which is created by entirely different industries than medicine

At the very end: "In the grand scheme of things, Feldman noted, inhalers are a relatively small cause of climate change compared to the bigger culprits like traffic, agriculture, and power generation." Good Lord, @cnn.com! This isn't "journalism". This is click bait!

DON'T PLATFORM THIS KKKRISTOFASCIST LITTLE SHIT UNLESS YOU ARE 100% PREPARED TO DEBUNK HIS LIES AND INCITEMENTS...THOROUGHLY, WITHOUT HESITATION AND WHILE TURNING OFF HIS MIC SO HE JUST HAS TO SIT THERE AND TAKE IT. ANYTHING LESS IS COLLABORATION. #BOYCOTTCNN bsky.app/profile/atru...

CNN: Isn't that hyperbolic to call them terrorists? STEPHEN MILLER: No. If anything I'm understating the severity of the situation

It's been done before. Albuterol inhalers had to have their propellent changed for environmental reasons about maybe 20 years ago. That allowed a new patent (just expired) and so if we reformulate again, patents come back. No generics.

Hmm. People *need* to breathe, but we *don’t* need to keep producing fossil fuels which are one of the biggest causes of climate change, so what should we do about this? What. Should. We. Do?

It's been almost four decades since the Montreal Protocol, and we're only just now studying if these other propellants are also bad? It's almost as if we let companies do a bunch of unnatural stuff that's not actually safe and we only find out about it way, way, way too late.

The framing on this is garbage. There are 1.5 billion cars in the world and 60 million new ones each year. Stop making people feel guilty about lifesaving technology. Direct your guilt trip at the Corporations who do the most polluting.

Yeah, those vulnerable people are the worse. Haven't they tried, you know, going without their life-saving medicine or simply dying for the greater good so billionaires can keep polluting at will? /Sarcasm

Ooh do big industries next. How much are they polluting? Is it at the same level as *checks notes* inhalers? Or are you just passing the blame to people who need inhalers?

Took till the end to conclude “In the grand scheme of things, Feldman noted, inhalers are a relatively small cause of climate change compared to the bigger culprits like traffic, agriculture, and power generation.”

FUCK OFF. THEN KEEP FUCKING OFF. KEEP FUCKING OFF UNTIL YOU GET TO A GATE WITH A SIGN SAYING "YOU CANT FUCK OFF PAST HERE." CLIMB OVER THE GATE, DREAM THE IMPOSSIBLE DREAM, AND KEEP FUCKING OFF FOREVER.

The implication of this article is that 0.005% of the US's annual CO2 emissions are from inhalers (25 million metric tons cumulatively over 10 years, vs 50 billion/year overall). Conclusive demonstration that the CO2 release from inhalers is totally inconsequential. jamanetwork.com/journals/jam...

the people who are most vulnerable to revolutions are constantly inadvertently adding to the problem by coming out with incredibly fucked up shit that makes it obvious how little they value and respect human life

The amount that people who use inhalers contribute is likely around 0.0000000000001% compared to the handful of companies and rich people that contribute to the rest. Why don't you write about that instead of making articles that "inadvertently" places blame on people just trying to be alive?

Eugenicist nonsense. How about we talk about the emissions of Amazon, OpenAI, coal power plants, the fucking cars used as comparison because it's so obviously shorthand for mass pollution?

Dry powder inhalers are not suitable for some illnesses and in an emergency asthma attack, they can worsen it. The ‘ancient’ ones are very effective at getting airways open, fast w/out complications. Really important to talk to your doctor or specialist before switching to mist or powder ones.

...that's a pretty fucked up lede, CNN/Jen Christensen. Did asthmatics choose which propellants pharma put in the medicine that keeps them from fucking dying? "pharma needs to develop more environmentally friendly propellants" is the sensible takeaway here.
