In the US, this almost amounts to the same thing? Trump forcing (or engineering) settlements in his favour, avoiding as many decisions against him as possible, spinning his losses, seems to be how he works.

If Trump is stupid and petty enough to go forward with this farcical $15b lawsuit and it doesn't work out, I fully expect Donald to then go after the judges and lawyers involved Because that's what his regime is, corruption, bigotry, fascism, & a revenge tour of his own personal grievances

Prediction: this lawsuit is just a cover for an arrangement whereby Trump will receive a very large payout from the NYT to settle the case. No liability will be admitted, and an NDA will hide the details. The NYT has already capitulated. bsky.app/profile/pete...

Instead of writing a mea culpa for his last horrid column, Ezra Klein is doubling down on his racist whoring for the billionaire class. Laundering fascism. More peak NYtimes.

Maybe an NDA won't even be needed. bsky.app/profile/acyn...

Reporter: What do you make of Bondi saying she is going to go after hate speech, a lot of your allies say hate speech is free speech. Trump: Probably go after people like you, you treat me unfairly, you have hate in your heart. ABC paid me $16 million for a form of hate speech,

What the hell kind of nonsense is this. People don't like Rump and tried to sway public opinion against him so that he politically fails? Wow! People have only been doing that against their government leaders for **literally as long as human society has existed**.

As a non-lawyer reading through this filing, I don’t understand how this is allowed? The filing read like a Seinfeld list of grievances- “look at all the neat stuff he’s done how can you be mean to him”- how do courts allow this to clog up the system?

Republicans on the Supreme Court will make a special rule for their very special boy. As president, Trump can change the meaning of any legal words. Supremely corrupt Republican Justices: 'When you're a Republican president we let you get away with it, grab 'em by the Black's dictionary'.

Also, Trump seems to sincerely believe at this point that anyone who doesn't like him or even doesn't love him unconditionally is, by definition, mentally ill ("deranged" as he frequently says)

I have known a lot of disagreeable and unethical people without much insight into their own amorality and unpleasantness, but I don't think any of them ever thought that someone disliking them was itself a sign of mental illness

None of this stops until he’s gone. Call your reps & GOP leaders ask how long they are going to run cover for trumps sex trafficking. Your reps and GOP leaders can be reached 202-224-3121 Tell them to remove Trump by impeachment/treason charges Need help use 5calls.org Also, Runforsomething.net

I’m no hyper chicken from a backwater asteroid but this is sanctionable imo. The cause of action is facially lacking and the damages asserted are so far beyond unreasonable as to be grounds for sanctions unto themselves. Calling this lawsuit frivolous doesn’t even begin to describe it.

This defamation lawsuit is proof nothing penetrates Trump's narcissism, not even paying $400K to the NY Times in legal costs less than two years ago, the last time he tried to sue them for defamation. Then again, he has a stronger hold on the courts now... www.bbc.com/news/world-u...

bbc.comDonald Trump ordered to pay NY Times nearly $400,000 in legal costsThe expenses are for a failed lawsuit the former president filed against the paper and its reporters.

When all your lawyers are twitter edgelords, all your lawsuits will be twitter shitposts. What's depressing is that there were times when putting this on a paper would instantly end lawyer's carrer. Now it puts you on a shortlist for the next attorney general...
