NPR jumps on the bandwagon with NYT and WaPo, treating inmates from the insane asylum as normal. Maybe republicans should get their dream of defunding it

Congrats on the whitewash and normalizing batshit crazy . . . how maddening. bsky.app/profile/ronf...

A frustrating thing for me right now is the media narrative that RFK Jr is just an “anti-vaxxer” when he has said so many crazy things about other stuff over the years. We compiled 10 nutty clips on various topics, which still barely scratches the surface. open.substack.com/pub/meidasto...

This is called sane washing. His views aren’t just controversial. He’s a full blown conspiracy theorist. 83 people in Samoa are dead because of his misinformation on measles. He has said no vaccine is safe. Said Covid was a way to install 5G towers. Look up his history. Do better.

Healthy food is great. Indigenous people in the Americas ate nothing but healthy, organic food and fresh, clean water. And the majority of them died of diseases we now have vaccines for. It's not either/or, it's yes/and. Because ignoring vaccines will kill people.

And "healthy food" is also sanewashing, since he thinks things like raw milk are healthy. He wants to legalize that and also gut the agencies that oversee food safety. Food borne illnesses are about to skyrocket.

Definitely. Fun fact, brucellosis is a common raw milk disease and can both cause miscarriage and the causative organism, B. abortus, is classified as a Select Agent by the federal government.

All these "pro-lifers" should 100% be outraged that we haven't banned fast food in America as heart disease is the number one killer BY FAR It's almost like it's not about human life, but rather "I'm outraged at what I've been told to be outraged about"

What a ridiculous headline and article. Shame on NPR. RFK Jr. is a serial lying grifter, and he will be a serious danger to the health of Americans if the Senate puts him in this job. This is not hard stuff. Do your job, NPR. Report reality.

RFK Jr has no medical training, no administrative experience, no government experience, and he holds wildly-anti-science positions. He’s a patronage appointment who will set health and human service programs back by decades. Don’t normalize him or his agenda.

Maybe take a look at the ratio here (remember ratios?) and ask yourselves, should we have made an attempt to evaluate the theory that RFK's plans will do ANYTHING AT ALL to prevent chronic disease (hint: they will not)

Why are you minimizing the danger of these nuts? I don't care if these dangerous people accidentally have some good ideas. The anti science bias he has would do immeasurable damage and if he gets his way- Death

The measles vaccine has saved 94 million lives over the past 50 years, and it plus vaccines against 13 other pathogens have cut infant mortality by 40 percent and saved 154 million lives. 154 MILLION LIVES 🧪 Anti-vaxxer RFKJ is a menace to global health www.scientificamerican.com/article/see-...

Did you ask him about his assertion that Covid was "engineered" to spare Ashkenazi Jews and Chinese people? Stop sanewashing this loon with cowardly words like "controversial" - I donate because NPR didn't used to engage in this tiptoeing.

I cut them off financially when "Morning Edition" uncritically interviewed a person from the Center for Immigration Studies, a John Tanton racist and eugenicist group. When I wrote them to ask why they didn't identify that part, they told me it wasn't their job to "editorialise."

The radio interviews around this have been great, focusing on Kennedy's lies and the danger he represents. I'm not sure how you go from that solid reporting to this weird PR piece???

Hitler wants to advocate for healthy members of society. Despite controversial views on anyone non white nor German, his focus on unity, marching and new ways to greet each other could find broad support—and face world conflict.

I love you, NPR, but his ideas about "tackling chronic diseases", as well as scaring people away from vaccines, should be the headline. He's not just an iconoclast, he's going to do real harm.

theres nothing “controversial” about his views, he’s an idiot and wrong. would it simply be “controversial” to state that will stone and allison aubrey hunt small children under the age of 4 for sport and keep their heads mounted on a wall at npr headquarters in illinois?

Excuse me???? 0_0 he hates vaccines, fluoride, people with disabilities, all kinds of people who NEED medical support. He would not help anybody's health!! What is wrong with you?

How could you write that RFK jr wants to “Make America healthy again”? His lame brain thinking about vaccines would have our children dying from childhood diseases that are preventable now. He should never be head of HHS. SHAME!

That loses you more ratings NPR I skip anything mainstream pushing lies! You gave up before they even came at you a tiny bit! Well when they come for you? Who will stand up for you? The Right? Lol

Pretty sure we could find a far more qualified person to back his 2 worthy ideas, a qualified person who didn’t carry the baggage of the rest of RFK jr’s. infinitely dangerous, horrible, & stupid ideas. Maybe even a candidate who never chainsawed a whale head off & strapped it to the family car.

If only we had a qualified person making the appointments of qualified persons to the positions that govern us in the first place. Sounds like a far away & very distant pipe dream, doesn’t it? Make America Smart Again.

Given that infectious disease drives chronic disease, I don’t see how his stance will hold up. Clean eating didn’t keep me from getting MS, and I require both pharma, and hopefully a good EBV vaccine in the future. Many cancers ARE now considered chronic disease due to cancer research.

The main issue with MS research is that chronic disease is done in silos. He could help things move forward by removing silos in research, not by abandoning it. And I saw him saying “back to evidence based science” when in fact, very little of what he says is evidence based.

You have got to be fucking kidding me NPR. He's a fucking lunatic. That's like saying eating glass might cause unstoppable internal bleeding but it is a form of recycling.

dil·et·tante /ˌdiləˈtänt/ noun a person who cultivates an area of interest, such as the arts, without real commitment or knowledge. "a wealthy literary dilettante"

Everyone wants to tackle chronic disease. Who doesn't? RFK Jr is a crackpot who does not believe in established science and has some conspiratorial views about vaccines and the cause of illnesses. Don't normalize and sane-wash him.

Measles from anti-vax stance, listeria from raw milk, cervical/penile/oral cancers when Gardasil is removed from recommended Vax lists, deaths from unsafe pharmaceuticals and meats after he guts regulatory agencies...

Oh, I forgot to mention the rise in suicides when he outlaws SSRIs. Meanwhile, Republicans in Ohio already passed the country's harshest anti-trans law on the first day of a lame duck session, and calls to LGBTQ crisis hotlines are up 700% since the election.

I can't wait until the Republicans fire every single "journalist" and "editor" at NPR and replace you all with Tim Pools and Candace Owens. I will enjoy telling you to die in poverty when you come begging us to "please support independent journalism by subscribing to my Substack."
