I had to fight my way through a segregated school system, and was involved in 2 of the 3 lawsuits against the Kansas City Missouri school district that ended in 1988. I'm only 55. There are children still in school in Mississippi that dealt with segregated schools. That ended in 2017.

Well considering that the eagle in the logo is very close to the Nazi eagle, what else did anyone expect? I don't even need to read any of their articles to know where they stand.

5 minutes in the comment section of any major social media app except bsky shows it's very much not a scam. Given anonymity, white supremacists are absolutely everywhere. I was on TikTok this morning and ran across easily 20 outright racists in just the handful of videos I watched.

Ran across a video highlighting the new Wendy's that have nowhere to sit down. Just a tablet and a food hatch. The comments didn't blame corporate enshitification and a failing pivot to AI. No, the real problem, according to them was black folks. I'm dead serious. White Supremacy is flourishing.

The Civil Rights Act passed the year I was born. The year before, separate fucking water fountains were legal. I’ll be 61 this summer. State sponsored racism is not ancient history. Some even say it has returned.

I wrote this week about how recent Jim Crow was, to the extent that a quarter of Americans were alive while it was in effect.

For all of the interest in pretending that inequalities are a function of will or that structural racism is in the distant past: 12 million people were born in Jim Crow states before Jim Crow ended — and still live there today. Gift link:

It always gives me pause to realize that my marriage would have been illegal in numerous states, within my lifetime. "The past is never dead. It's not even past." -- Faulkner, _Requiem for a Nun_, 1951.

You make an excellent point. I never thought the states would take the lead on marriage inequality, since it seemed to me at the time that civil rights were more federally driven. But I remember being proud the day my state stepped into the light on marriage equality.

Can you write about how America's past is America's present, one in three black men have felony convictions, how Angola prison is a slave plantation, and the Dozier school for boys was a child sex slave death and torture camp until only a few years ago (from which there was not a single arrest)?

I'm 70, I remember in rural county of Oklahoma I grew up in, they had two water fountains, one for whites only and one for coloreds only. I really didn't understand why back then. Now I do.

Yeeees, all those years of Jim Crow laws and burning crosses and lynchings and men in white robes with pointy hats... none of it ever happened. Pay no attention to the "great replacement theory" being promoted by these people. It's all in your head.

Thank you for posting something that revealed a few more racist accounts for me to block! I have zero tolerance for white supremacists who hide behind Christian nationalism to justify their hate and pretend that they are the victims of discrimination. No point in arguing. They’re beyond redemption.

I mean, the southern racists in the "Redemption" era that undid Reconstruction after the Civil War called their system "white supremacy" and called their electoral wins victories for white supremacy. But I guess woke liberals made them say that

I'm nearly 68 and I remember asking my mom why she didn't take us down south to visit family and she told me that because I was so inquisitive that she couldn't risk me being defiant and drinking from the whites only fountains and all of us getting lynched but not without a fight from her.

Can' guess if by "white supremacy" they're referring to the part of history when white people owned just about the whole world, or to the ideology we created to justify doing that by pretending to be genetically-culturally superior to them. . .it could be called a "scam" either way, but "leftist?"

Its true. Roots of White Supremacy. See, US Constitution: Article I, section 2, clause 3: Article I, section 9, clauses 1 and 4; Article IV, section 2, clause 3; and Article V; with the electoral college and the 2nd amndmnt were all intended to secure slavery, before the civil war & 14th amendment.

As they deport brown people …… chase random brown people only to discover they are Native American….. it must’ve stated that I’m native when they ran my name…but yeah it’s all leftist thinking and this didn’t ever happen to me……(sic)

Ooo the left. 👻 Socialists scary. Marxists scary. Socialism every thing bad. Capitalism everything good. War is peace, Freedom is slavery, Ignorance is strength.
