two states of programming: 1. what if I bought some land. just leave all this bullshit behind. (currently working on task) 2. I am a fucking genius that will never die. (finished task)

Relaying this plan of yours to others: "He's got this dream about buying some land He's gonna give up the booze and the one-night stands And then he'll settle down In some quiet little town And forget about everything".

And that little cycle is why engineers are technically addicted to coding and why I sometimes get emails at 2am saying FIXED IT. Adapting the aphorism: find a job you're addicted to and you'll work every day of your life.

For me: 1. Those rock trucks on Gold Rush don't look too hard to drive and my brain could just be off (trying to fix hideous bug I have introduced) 2) I am a fucking genius that will never die... (all tests run, code review is sparse and it merges)

3. HELL YEEEEE- o waitaminute… HOLUP (the disbelief when you’ve just finished a huge code refactor of hundreds of lines across several files that took you hours, and when you save the last file, everything compiles and all the errors in the unit tests magically clear up in the console)

No you forgot stage 3 (6 months after 2) Who the fuck wrote this garbage? This is dumb and wrong and whoever wrote it doesn't deserve rights so I'm just gonna look in the logs and see who is responsible for this abominat... Oh. Oh no. It was me.

I'm not in programming (I wish!) but I go through the same stages as well. However, I do believe that the fantasizing part helps getting through. But yeah you are fucking genius!

I just said this today.. I’m a move into the woods but with WiFi and water type of dreamer. Then engineering says my 2 team tickets are coming out of backlog to next sprint-ok I’ll stay
