I love you, JVL, but let's see if Platner wins his election and how he performs in office first. I want to give him the benefit of the doubt, but I need to see that his attitudes about minorities and women have really changed before I'd ever vote for him for president.

I agree with you. I'm not in Maine and don't have a vote in his election. I'm hoping that, if elected, he will live up to the trust people have placed in him. He needs to prove that he's who he says he is now, however, before I'd be willing to consider him for other office, let alone the presidency.

Not even close. Obama was already in the Senate & had shown that he was a formidable political talent who could win in a large & diverse state like Illinois. Everyone knew it was a matter of when, not if, for him Platner hasn’t even proven he can beat Susan Collins yet

There's a difference between wanting Platner to unseat Collins (100% want) and wanting him as the Presidential nominee (100% do not want, which is not to say I won't vote for him if it's the alternative to the next fascist GOP nom but there are better choices possible).
