Enjoyed seeing this woman's work. Sustainability isn't just about producer decisions, but also consumer decisions, namely their willingness to repair things when needed. This type of repair is easier on natural fibers, rather than stretch fabrics. Consider that when shoppping. IG loosethreadsrepair

"What’s driving me crazy, then, is not the idea that AI exists or that people are using AI. It’s that I have a finite time on this earth that I mostly want to spend interacting with other human beings."

I wrote about being inundated with AI writing at every turn, unwittingly turning my brain into the AI police, and how shitty AI writing is randomly showing up in my real life outside of the internet www.404media.co/your-ai-use-...

“Why is the proletariat not cheering for the bourgeoisie?” Look, if you believe AI is the “next Industrial Revolution,” ask yourself if weavers & the working class were super excited about factories. Then you’ll know what to say about AI at a commencement speech!

Cabel Sasser@cabel.panic.com

this graduation speech moment is notable, and her amazed shock at having failed to read the room feels instructive. when you're inside the bubble, you think everybody else is. but everybody isn't.

Visitors are coming, so you clean your messy house because your standard of cleanliness is based on the houses you visit, houses that look spotless since they cleaned up before you arrived after seeing your house was clean when they visited. Together, we can stop this. Don’t clean up.

SO annoyed at this because it did previously give me a popup asking to enable smart features and I said no... now they're turned on again.

If you use GMail, AI (Gemini) was turned on yesterday by default and now scans all of your content for machine learning. To turn off, go to Settings>General and scroll down. Uncheck the box for "Smart features." There's other "Smart" add-ons as well, but that's the one that reads your content.

the thing about skysports halo is that it's likely a result of higher-ups seeing their social media demographics skew increasingly female saying "this is a problem that needs to be fixed" but unlike boys' tv that gets too popular with girls, they can't just cancel the show because the show is sports

Frustrating though entirely unsurprising that a young femme-focused magazine that has been doing banger work in reporting on crucial issues is being gutted by the politically grey Vogue. We need this reporting now more than ever, and I've said this far too many times in the last two years.

I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day. certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

New article on ★ daiz.moe ★ Crunchyroll is destroying its subtitles for no good reason daiz.moe/crunchyroll-... A ton of research and effort went into this one. This is the article to read to get to the bottom of Crunchyroll's subtitle changes! Replies here will show up as comments (eventually)

daiz.moeCrunchyroll is destroying its subtitles for no good reason | Daiz.moeWith the Fall 2025 anime season, Crunchyroll demonstrates zero respect for anime as a medium as the presentation quality of its subtitles reach an all-time low.

I'll say it: I think its rly annoying and frankly amateurish that writers are constantly told their villains must be understandable or have sympathetic motivation to be interesting or realistic when all our big villains irl are in fact rich, stupid, selfish, trickster dillweeds and always have been

Just ran some evals on Claude Sonnet 4.5. It's better than 4 on some but worse on a lot. LLM progress is so weird. You really gotta test this stuff on what you care about.

one more: i think people should be able to navigate a website like ao3 instead of demanding an app. it's digital literacy. it's important. it's a learnable skill. and perhaps most glaringly, it's divorced from the algorithm. that's important, too.

Someone please write a science fiction story in which birds sing resistance images — protest flyers, anti-government art, a picture of a raised fist — as they fly through cities
