Suck ass, The Economist

Some folks have really tied themselves into knots with this belief bordering on zealotry that the release of the New Big Game is going to have millions and millions of new people buying current gen consoles next month that they'll twist every single piece of info into that story no matter what.

bubble’s not popping anytime soon if anthropic is making this kind of money off claude, even if capex costs are still absurd

The unit economics here are frankly shocking they're so good. This is wildly stronger than I expected tbh.

This language (especially the pixel reference) appears to be driven by the SCOTUS case this term on the Video Privacy Protection Act.

Well this is eleventy-million kinds of Fucked Up. @latimes.com (who once contracted with me as a freelance reviewer and whom I struggled to get paid by) asserts that *merely reading its website* constitutes a permanent waiver of your right to sue it under *any circumstances*.

unfair flips was one of the smartest indie games of last year the idea to gate spooky cool weird content inside of a demo behind difficulty but not saying what to do, tell players "good fucking luck even finding it i hope you can" is a very, VERY good marketing decision really wanna play this now!

There is something you can do in the demo for 500 FINGER FILLET that will have terrible consequences in the full game. Welcome to Difficulty -1.

Looking for game devs who have been directly inspired by anything BioWare for my next video. I suspect the public likely doesn’t quite realize the extent of their influence on the industry, so I’d really like to highlight that. If you are one such game devs, pls reply to this post!

Bolsonaro-friendly mayors appear to be sabotaging public transport on Election Day. Buses aren’t running in Lula-friendly areas, flights and ferries mysteriously canceled. Traffic lights have gone out and people’s power cut in Salvador, indigenous people’s travel restricted

if you ever happen to see someone post a joke you don't understand or discuss a subject you aren't familiar with, you are well within your right to complain, and perhaps even scold them if necessary. you are their customer and you have rights

there’s no such thing as “strategic bigotry.” I know this because there is no amount of money you could pay me to become a bigot. the democrats who do this agree to do it because they’re bigots

Erin Reed@erininthemorning.com

Josh Turek of Iowa, Democrat, comes out with one of the worst anti-trans ads yet. Not only is it an anti-sports ad, it proposes a ban on federal funding for gender affirming care. That would hit all medicaid and medicare patients, and any ACA federally-subsidized plans as well. Horrific.

again, the joke needs context to be funny. I finally got the answer from google. It’s some podcast couple I’ve never heard of and the husband got caught having an affair.

The ability to handle ambiguity in life and art is a sign of maturity and I am so bothered by how many people don’t seem to trust other people to be able to process these things. It’s the same impulse that leads to yelling at headlines for not explicitly saying something is bad.

Steam Next Fest started with ~50 hand-picked games that had missed their opportunity to demo at GDC bc of COVID. it scaled well for a while and was certainly more impactful than we anticipated at the time, but now the scale of AI slop is untenable. who is still being served by this? *8000* games?

thinking about the "AI Gaming Festival" event page someone had on Steam last month where literally none of the games featured sold more than 500 units, most of the feedback (if any) was negative, & they tried to charge $10 to view the dev livestreams store.steampowered.com/curator/4628...

store.steampowered.comAI Gaming FestivalLearn how AI being used to games faster than ever, and see some of the games that are being created with the technology.

my fav detail: the Bad Rats publisher infamously lets any user tag stick to the game because they are aware of it's meme status (making it profitable), and thus the game has a Generative AI user tag whoever ran the event likely saw the tag, didn't know that context, and added it to most capsules

Went to the (way bigger than I imagined) dog day festival! it was really cool but I was quickly overstimulated and abandoned taking pictures lmao but a good time was had by all! Though I did have to walk in front because there's a literal wake of people behind cowboy stopping to stare lmao
