Farage tying himself in angry knots here ... as he refuses to answer the basic question: Is it racist to call Kemi Badenoch a "Nigerian scammer"?

Replying to @13sarahmurphy.bsky.social

imo the only response to the far right is harden governance, human rights and equality, regulate media and put this beyond the meddling of a parliamentary mood swing. Railgun us back into the EU and lock the door so they can't yank us out.

Jenrick has set out how Reform would maximise our “Brexit freedoms”. And this is their list. This is the very best they can come up with. “Re-legalise imperial units” It’s truly pathetic that this is the pinnacle of their Brexit fever dream. And that anyone would still back this ruinous idiocy…

Imagine a world where we are no longer dependent on oil and nuclear energy. It's coming and it's better and that's why the vested interests are doing everything in their power to stop it

Jan Rosenow@janrosenow.bsky.social

Solar has overtaken nuclear. A decade ago it supplied 1% of the world's power. In 2025 it met three quarters of global demand growth. Almost nobody saw it coming. I spoke to Jocelyn Timperley at BBC Future about why. www.bbc.co.uk/future/artic...

This went on for the rest of the full hour, at which point the BBC apologised for having to go to the weather and urged viewers to follow continuing live coverage on iPlayer. Forty-one minutes of unfiltered, unchallenged propaganda by a far right party with 8 MPs, now third in the polls. Discuss.

BBC News just interrupted its coverage to go, live, to Nigel Farage - a man with no contitutional standing in our setup - responding to the budget - a document which nobody has seen yet. WHY

“While each of us (voted Brexit) for different reasons, we all believed that the UK could do a better job of running its own affairs than *unelected officials* in Brussels could." Ben Houchen... November 2020 Six years later 👇👇👇

Private Eye Magazine@privateeyenews.bsky.social

Since his ennoblement in Boris Johnson’s 2023 resignation list, Tees Valley regional mayor Lord (Ben) Houchen has claimed more than £25,000 in tax-free daily “attendance” allowances from the House of Lords for 73 days when he hasn’t voted, spoken or performed any recorded parliamentary activity.

'Leaving the European Union was the biggest act of economic self harm any country has ever committed' Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, told #BBCBreakfast Andy Burnham 'is spot on' about having an "honest discussion" ove the prospect of returning to free movement between the UK and European Union

“I would like to see that happen in my lifetime” PM Andy Burnham tells Good Morning Britain he believes Brexit has weakened the UK economy and its control over immigration. But he insists the British public must have the final say, ruling out a move to rejoin the EU during this Parliament

💯The case for democracy is not that voters are always right, or wise, or good. It's that they can correct their mistakes. That's why it's so dangerous to have billionaires controlling the media or regulating the flow of information. It shuts down the immune system of democracy.

Rob Ford@robfordmancs.bsky.social

I was having conversations with journalists just a few months ago about whether democracy was doomed. Look at this year: Orban defeated. Vukic defeated. Bolsonaro Jr defeated. Trump heading to likely defeat in midterms. That’s the beauty of democracy. Voters can respond. Don’t count it out yet.

Again, worth analysing Burnham as if he is really good at politics: moving red lines from things EU can't accept (free movement) to things it might (euro). Changing terms of debate on an issue from negative (uncontrolled immigration) to positive (Brits can go abroad for work).

Mujtaba Rahman@mijrahman.bsky.social

I think @andyburnham.bsky.social wants to rejoin the EU. Not spin. It's incredibly bold to even raise free movement. Perhaps testing the water to see if public opinion on immigration has changed. The Europeans are paying attention

Doesn’t matter how you voted if you were front and centre in a Brexit government, actively overseeing the shrinking of our economy, our influence and our opportunities, while you rolled around in the trough. We’ll be disregarding everything you now say, thanks.

Congrats to Lula on overcoming Mark Zuckerberg and Donald Trump to defeat Hospital Pervert Jr., even as his opposition literally blocked off roads and turned off bus service during election day. Fascists are scary but they are always, 100% of the time, ultimately gigantic fucking losers.

First Orban, now Vučić. Both fundamentally undone by rank corruption of their regimes. Which is so often the reality of the authoritarian right in power. Really worth paying heed to in Western Europe right now

The best response to Russian aggression and an America we can't rely on? EU membership. Rejoining the EU is the best way to keep us safe. Ellie Chowns MP: We must "cooperate with our allies and especially our closest European neighbours".

"Stockpiling was illegal during the war..." One of the weakest (and, for some reasone, most repeated) arguments against taking basic steps to prepare for a short disruption, like losing power for a couple of days. Keeping a wind up torch and some bottled water is not "stockpiling" ffs.

And true to form, Farage and the Tories (Philp) respond by being totally dishonest about it… Freedom of movement with the EU requires EU citizenship. Immigration requires visas. Talk of ‘betrayal’ and ‘uncontrolled migration’ is the mark of a liar or a fool. www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/poli...

It is disgraceful that Andy Burnham took an hour out to appear on Gogglebox just to raise money for Stand Up To Cancer. If he's going to do a TV show he should do what I did and pocket £1.5million for eating some kangaroo bollocks.
