Imagine a world where we are no longer dependent on oil and nuclear energy. It's coming and it's better and that's why the vested interests are doing everything in their power to stop it

Jan Rosenow@janrosenow.bsky.social

Solar has overtaken nuclear. A decade ago it supplied 1% of the world's power. In 2025 it met three quarters of global demand growth. Almost nobody saw it coming. I spoke to Jocelyn Timperley at BBC Future about why. www.bbc.co.uk/future/artic...

Prime Minister @andyburnham.bsky.social is right. By almost every economic and financial measure Brexit has been disastrous for the UK and Nigel Farage knows it

The loss of freedom of movement due to Brexit affects far more than just people. Losing the four freedoms- goods, people, capital, and services has wide-ranging consequences.

Exactly. A referendum is a decision, not a life sentence. In 2016 voters chose Brexit; they didn’t vote to surrender the right of future generations to reconsider it. If the consequences prove damaging, as they have, democracy demands the freedom to debate, vote again, & potentially change course.

Why are the people who accuse those talking about reversing Brexit of "living in the past" never asked about their own plans to rip up an international agreement that was first signed by the UK some 75 years ago?

The really disgusting aspect is that Farage has no ideological or altruistic motivations behind his plan for private health insurance. It's nothing more than a way for him to further enrich himself and his horrible cronies. Everything about him screams CONMAN.

Yes, I have done some volunteering with the Bristol-based charity, Just Treatment, to try to increase awareness of what the Tories at the time had in store for our NHS! Did you know that the 2012 Health & Care Bill removed the Secretary of State’s obligation to provide healthcare for its citizens?!!

The BBC needs to provide an explanation for this.

This went on for the rest of the full hour, at which point the BBC apologised for having to go to the weather and urged viewers to follow continuing live coverage on iPlayer. Forty-one minutes of unfiltered, unchallenged propaganda by a far right party with 8 MPs, now third in the polls. Discuss.

Support for the metric system in the UK is overwhelming - unsurprising because you would have to be a moron and/or over the age of 70 to think otherwise. My worry is for the 0.4% who think we should have only imperial measures. Hunt them down, & put them in a secure institution for monitoring.

Also I don't know if anyone has the coding (or....vibe coding?) chops for this, but it'd be fun to compare EIA's projections for installed cap vs what actually happens in a rolling file that features 'versioned' snapshots of each. A decade of semi-consistent XLS files to play with here!!
