absolute insanity as Mike Waltz suggests Jeffrey Goldberg somehow deliberately hacked his way into the Signal group

They can't, Signal isn't an approved platform for dissemination of classified information. Admission to their screw up is an admission of guilt to violating national security laws.

Fucking loser. These people would “out” their own grandma if it was a choice of either money, or their own power, or grandma gets taken out. Such cowards. They make me want to puke. 🤮 This is what America has become.. It’s sickening. The Ebola virus has more integrity than these pieces of garbage.

ICYMI, @propublica.org uncovered Project 2025 training videos last summer. And here’s where they discuss how to evade FOIA & hide their agenda from the public. The “Houthi PC small group” didn’t arise from ignorance of the law or incompetence. They just got caught.

As should Signal for their product's security being so sullied. On the one hand they've had the best endorsement ever (by being selected over WhatsApp for secure candelstine messaging between top WH officials); but now their security is being thrown under a bus to save Waltz's skin.

If it's THAT simple to hack your way in then 1) You shouldn't be using it for sensitive inf 2) Russia, China, North Korea were also listening in. 3) A journalist is small beer by comparison.

Just deflection This wasn’t a mistake,it was a deliberate effort to bypass security protocols. We just got lucky they were careless enough to include someone who exposed their criminal playbook. Arrogance made them sloppy, and that’s the only reason we saw the truth.

To avoid FOIA and records keeping requirements. The real question is what else is being discussed on Signal to avoid records keeping requirements and hamper FOIA requests.

We've had the different stages of Conservatives in the UK shown here: 1 - It didn't happen. 2 - Not going to confirm or deny but makes a personal attack. 3 - Yes it did happen but mistakes happen, and it wasn't that bad.... 4 - Hey look over there....

Liar, liar! Pants on fire! They will say anything to avoid accountability. It’s my understanding that Waltz added Goldberg to the chat list, but I’ll wait on the results of the intelligence review. They couldn’t keep their stories straight in front of the Intelligence Committee.

Even if true ( it isn’t), they still used an app that the NSA forbade them to use. Deflect much? No accountability, no responsibility and complete incompetence are the hallmarks of MAGA. It’s true of their voters as well. I personally believe they wanted Russian hackers to get the information.

The behaviour, the scapegoating, the lies, the not taking accountability is even below a kindergarten child. Is this what scrapping DEI hires gets us? Unqualified, unintelligent, unaccountable men throwing a tantrum when the country asks justified questions?

That... Would be worse? You being incompetent at texting is one thing, some rando (not even a nation-state) cracking the app wide open is another. Also admitted to making the group, so that's right to jail right there.

Signal notifies you when you're added to a group chat. The journalist saw that Mike Waltz had added him. Mike is at-fault for that. Who was Mike Waltz trying to add to the chat?

Goldberg made them all use Signal, then forced Waltz to add him to the group chat, then lied about what he saw in the group chat, but it was actually real, but it wasn’t classified, but it actually was, but it doesn’t matter anyway because nothing matters anymore.

Their entire worldview holds words as tools and truth as meaningless. It requires them to shove all accountability down as low as they can manage. Of course they would try to make him a scapegoat.

Genuinely was amazed they hadn't tried to have him arrested yet, but that would contradict their "there was nothing classified" claims, not that contradicting their own statements has ever stopped them before.

Which if he did hack his way in makes this even more egregious since they should not have used Signal for this very reason. And everyone involved knew they were not using the appropriate protocols.

So Mike Waltz not only can't keep secrets... he can't program contracts in his phone? Maybe he's not the guy to throw the word "loser " around so lightly.

Important point: if it's so easy to hack onto a Signal conversation, maybe it's not a good idea to be discussing state secrets on it. Oh wait, that's why it's an offense punished by jail time.

Wow, imagine what an antagonistic foreign entity might be able to do if a journalist could hack in. Probably best to follow the law and use some secret spy craft level means of communication instead of a Signal chat ffs.

Caught lying again! Coming up with lies to deny, deflect and blame someone else is an essential prerequisite skill for those in the trump administration. (But this guy is lousy at it)

Are we surprised that they’re lying? F NO Are we surprised that they’re corrupt f’n idiots? F NO What is surprising is that they’re not bright enough to figure out that all of deflection and deceit is being compiled and if there is an ounce of justice in this world, it will come back to haunt them!

Two issues: * Yes, hacking into Signal is relatively easy, which is why *using it for official govt business breaches the Espionage Act* * If Goldberg had hacked his way into the chat, why wouldn't he have shared what he learned after all that trouble instead of *publicizing the breach*?!?

Ya that's what happened. In his wildest dreams he knew a bunch of morons would be stupid enough to discuss war secrets on non secure Signal and thought he would use his skills as a hacker to hack in and get in the group chat. This statement by Mike Waltz is the most bizarre yet. Liars.

So a random reporter was able to "hack" into the communication channel they were using for sharing war secrets? They dig the hole deeper with their every statement, and yet, since US isnt a democracy anymore, nothing will happen to them

well, trump wants Russia to be our greatest ally, so he doesn't care about that. He probably sold Vlad a whole bunch of stuff already. Plus, trump thinks the men & women who serve in the Military are suckers and losers anyway. He doesn't care if they get killed in some mission.

I've reached the conclusion that the endgame is the wholesale destruction of the USA from within. The goal is to remove the USA as a world leader while at the same time making the country itself so dysfunctional that it can not reclaim the role.

I think Putin would like to see the USA break up like the Soviet Union did. That is the endgame. Trump and Maga have swallowed so much Russian propaganda that they will help bring that about.

Pure Trumpian behavior. Never take responsibility, just blame others. AND usually blame others for something that THEY are in fact guilty of. It’s so ridiculous. It’s apparent to all who don’t drink the MAGA koolaid

How would he even know the secret war chat group existed in the first place?!? Got to know about it to want to hack into it! It's like watching kids lie, they've not thought of the back story!

This was my favorite quote of the day- priceless!!💯‼️💙 Senator Ossoff: "This is what happens when you have Fox News personalities cosplaying as government officials"

Yep, they've managed to make this about how the journalist was added and not about them using Signal. The messaging war on this is already lost unless it quickly pivots back to all news outlets and Democrats talking about them using Signal in the first place.

It's worse than that. They're setting up a line of attack to blame the journalist for "hacking" the group chat. Guaranteed they come out with some bogus claim backed up by state secrets evidence "just believe us" that it was all the journalist's fault.

They use the word classified repeatedly. There is also confidential information. You can be charged for disclosing either. Clearly at minimum some of what Pete shared was confidential. Jeff should not share the remainder to anyone but someone authorized to view it. Or he could be at risk

This is how they'll spin it, though. They will disappear that guy to an El Salvadoran supermax prison claiming he hacked his way in before they'll ever admit their own mistakes. Goldberg should 100% prepare for this.
