Trump: "Many ships are heading to our country right now to load up with the best and sweetest. I don't know what exactly sweet is, but when it relates to oil it's a good thing."

The hook. This guy needs the hook. His act is bad, it's gone on too long. He's not funny. Plus there's the whole killing people and ruining everything situation.

Oil is a supply and demand business. A world shortage caused by the Iran blockade makes it more profitable to sell US oil over seas. The result? Less oil for Americans at higher prices.

Jesus Christ, it just refers to the sulfur content of the oil. The lower the sulfur, the sweeter it's flavor. No really. 19th Century prospectors would taste crude oil and the higher the sulfur, the more sour and unpleasant it's smell.

Sweet & sour and heavy & light refer to the amount of sulfur in the crude and its density. Most US oil is light and sweet (expensive), meaning easy to refine, so we EXPORT that for top $$ and import heavy sour (cheap and polluting) to refine here. Because $$ > clean air

This is true. Asian tankers are heading to the gulf in record number because the Strait is closed. Will be interesting to see how this effect domestic supply and prices in a few months. Might not turn out to be the flex he thinks it is.

Sweet crude is not desirable for US refineries. We frack shale for it, have a bunch, and export most all of it. We must import heavy crude, mostly from Canada and Mexico, no tankers required.

If this probable lie were true, all it would mean is that US oil companies would make a lot of money. Ordinary Americans would continue to pay more for gas and pretty much everything else, thanks to the closed Strait of Hormuz.

Seems that way to me. Whenever I hear Trump say "we are going to make so much money" on this or that, I translate it to "me and my corrupt regime are going to stuff our offshore accounts with gold bars." Of course he cut taxes for the wealthy already. But I don't hear Trump getting nailed for this.

Does he think oil tankers just roam the ocean to go fill up at whatever port is selling the cheapest oil, he has no clue of what logistics actually go into getting oil transferred around the world.

He doesn’t know why it’s called Light Sweet Crude and yet he’s trying to steal all of it that Iran has. How did someone with such little understanding of the world become its de facto ruler?

According to Tucker Carlson and Joe Kent, Trump‘s former head of counterterrorism, that was a fake assassination attempt. I don’t know details behind that headline, because Tucker Carlson‘s voice is so irritating I can’t stand to listen to it, but if true, it’s automatic grounds for impeachment.

“I am paying back Big Oil for their campaign bribe. Some call it a quid pro quo, some call it a bribe which it could be except the Supreme Court says it’s ok if I do it so it’s not a bribe. Maybe we should call it a thank you gift. That’s nice, isn’t it? People don’t say thank you enough to me.”

The underlying value of all things Trump -- literally all he ever enjoys -- is money and being richy-rich. I'd wager most Americans really give a rat's ass about money and being richy-rich. And listening to this bullshit just alienates them more.

Maybe he should educate himself before starting wars over it. We export light sweet crude (and need to import heavy sour crude) oil because the majority of our refining capacity is not built to handle the light sweet type efficiently.

Look, guys My dad died of Alzheimer’s and it was extremely painful to watch such a brilliant guy laid low But it was easier to see the symptoms bc he was so bright and articulate I think we’ve been thrown by how ignorant and dumb Trump is but I’m telling you I’d be shocked if he doesn’t have it

The element of care that POTUS will never be able to access is the love of family. Because it's not there. A domestic tragedy that has birthed a global menace.

Sorry about your dad. I still struggle with trump clearly being a lower quartile intellect by my observation (I have a specific tell) and with him certainly sounding like he has some form of dementia. At his age, both are certainly possible.

the mysterious once a month trip to Walter Reed amid the rumors he’s getting a recently approved monthly intravenous Alzheimer’s drug and the bruised hands

Mine too… he was a Ph. D geologist. Dad loved to talk and tell stories, and his flavor of Alz stole his ability to speak. Trump absolutely has it; the repetition, the clutching at familiar patterns, the confusion, the aphasia.

dementia can result from a number of brain diseases with Alzheimer’s being the most prevalent. whatever the Donald has it’s not good. your point, tho, about detecting the signs was funny. easy to see with someone like your dad. the difference between ‘crazy then’ and ‘crazier now’ is more subtle

Sadly, Same- Dad just passed in November. Watching a 'man of letters' who could drop a contextually perfect line from Marcus Aurelius or Victor Hugo lose a battle of wits to a toaster.....and inevitably become a shell of a human being is soul-crushing. Then again, Dad didn't have the nuke codes

I’m sorry for your loss I always say to those unfortunate people who are starting their journey with a parent with Alzheimer’s that it’s an emotional trap to compare who they are with who they were It’s just a “yes and” situation

As a Second City Training Center grad, I found myself taking the YES AND element in a whole new sad direction. But you're spot on. Accepting the 'new reality' and focusing on who they are NOW is no consolation- but it WILL help.

The fight needs to be about the failure of the whole plan and Soros h, not the guy…. But I get what you are saying! - Dem Ldrshp… Hammer him on not actually running things (as they hammered us on Biden) AND that this whole thing, including the supporting cast, is all failure!

I appreciate this, as I constantly make the argument he's always proven himself to be a dim bulb. Idk Alzheimer's though, and the heartbreaking nuance of knowing it shows things I can't see.

Same experience with my mom. Whatever mental capacity he might have once had was destroyed by his malignant narcissism. And now, his symptoms of both dementia & his psychopathy getting worse are excused as"just him being him." Mary Trump is speaking to this so clearly lately.

Lost my oma to Alzheimers as well, and sending nothing but love Mr.Bader I think very late stage. And there's a lot in his daily routine that makes me believe it and how the people around him manipulate his position and ego into everything terrible. He isn't fit for chewables let alone office

Same with my dad. This is exactly true. I've said for years "how will we know" when he's going insane. I think we know, but it's harder to tell with his baseline crazy. It's the layer of dipshit sycophants surrounding him that make it the most dangerous though. They're covering it up.

I'm sorry for your loss, especially your losing your father slowly and before he was physically gone. I think you're right. Trump's vocabulary has drastically declined over the past few years.

I worked in Alzheimer's units and he definitely has dementia. I've given people the cognitive test that he claims to have "aced" three times and I highly doubt he aced any of them.

My father died from Alzheimer's as well. From what I understand, DJT doesn't have that but does have frontotemporal dementia. Part of that condition is confubulation = making shit up and believing it (as opposed to Alzheimer's, characterized by forgetting instead)

and living hell for the caregivers. I care for a veteran who is no verbal now.. he's basically a 18 month old. luckily he's always happy and smiling but dang his wife 71 is there 24/7 bathing him changing him feeding him washing pee sheets for a "big baby" who doesn't even know she exists. 💔

😇 I will always cherish one of her last afternoons of clarity. We sat at the kitchen table eating sandwiches, drinking Pepsi and OMGing over all my family history research and files ❤️

So sorry you went through that with your father. My step-grandmother left us that way and it was so sad. She didn’t seem particularly troubled by it, but we watched a much loved lady disappear before our eyes. I agree with you about Trump, wasn’t much of substance to begin with.

Agree totally. My very bright mom worked around her symptoms (forgot the phrase “garbage disposal” and hilariously substituted “food eradicator,” for example), but they were eventually easy to spot because she’d always been so sharp. Trump is so intellectually lame that it’s less obvious with him.

The Goldwater rule is probably generally good, if you're a professional at this you shouldn't diagnose people you haven't met. This is a good thing. But man I feel like so many professionals would have really interesting observations here.

Just went through the same thing. It was wild, looking back and understanding he was afflicted well before anybody had the slightest clue. Things attributed to age, stress, any number of things. So much conflict and drama that might have been managed. Trump is that, writ large.

I witnessed an uncle become consumed by dementia, in a year’s time. He was a horrible person before dementia, and ten times worse with it. I think it accentuates who one is. Did you see that with your dad?

No Early days he’d quickly change the subject if he got lost He’d say things that didn’t make sense Then he acted very juvenile & insecure Then he’d act very defensive & irritable Slowly his whole personality changed & he became a very different person Then he was unable to speak&walk The he died

I'm so sorry. Both my parents have dementia but not Alzheimer's. They *are* themselves, but far less mature. They've lost restraint and filters. So that description is accurate for some. Not fun, but not nearly as awful as Alzheimer's.

I am so sorry for your loss. I've been watching my mother (diagnosed with vascular dementia and with AD) go from some mild personality changes to imagining things that were not happening to now having limited memory and communication skills. It's incredibly tough to live through.

My relative's experience with was to be completely unmoored in time to a very extreme degree. One minute it was actually lunch time, the next minute they were complimenting a haircut I got 40 years previous as if it was today.

So sorry. I too watched my grandfather slowly fade away. I tried caring for him,but he didn't recognize me anymore. He had flashbacks from WWII and thought I was the enemy. He died of pneumonia shortly after he was admitted to a care facility. 💔 i hope my cancer kills me b4 I get alzheimers.

Sorry brother, that was what it was like with my father. He was always so quick witted and funny in life, and a brief period before the worst he became absolutely hilarious in the oddest of ways. It helps me when I remember him.

My dad also died of a complication made fatal by Alzheimer's and I see it too. They can sound like themselves for shorter and shorter periods but eventually it just becomes more nonsensical and the ability to connect thoughts becomes eventually impossible.

You get these flashes were Trump basically admits he’s bullshitting but there’s people that either ignorantly or maliciously try to convince you not only is this man smart but he’s doing things for the benefit of Americans.

I've had the good fortune to be in the room with some truly brilliant, articulate, driven, compassionate, & inspiring people in my life. You get a sense of where you stand on the intellectual spectrum. Those that haven't....think this guy is all of those things. Just sayin'.
