Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

American small business owners largely see themselves as lower-level rentiers in a quasi-feudal economy as opposed to service providers in a competitive market economy, and part of that means not having to actually be competent at providing services

Dangubiti@dangubiti.bsky.social

I’ve lost track of how many small business owners in DC are shocked that their customers respond extremely negatively to their public tweets supporting Trump

if you don’t keep up with the youth i want you to know they’ve renamed “tramp stamps” to “cake toppers” which feels like the first advancement for feminism in a long time

We bullied a bunch of vulnerable kids back into the closet with threats of explicit violence and parental abuse. Why do they suddenly feel less secure?

The Washington Post@washingtonpost.com

Young teenagers are less likely to identify as lesbian, gay or bisexual than a few years ago, according to a new analysis. “It really does look like a free fall,” Jean Twenge, a professor of psychology, said. “But what’s causing it is unclear.”

Yes every woman has been harassed, many assaulted. But every woman has also experienced invisible loss from moments she avoided harassment. She felt a space becoming unsafe, so she left, while men stayed on. And in leaving, she lost: opportunities, experiences, learning, promotions, even simply fun.

I ran an acorn foraging workshop today for a colleague’s food history class! Knowing some students would inevitably come face to face with their first acorn weevil while cracking nuts, I made a few little pins as prizes for weevil-finding 🐛

Races are overdone and don't make sense. Which is why Breakaway has Cultures instead! Makes way more sense. Also so tired of options being "human but with weird bits and bobs". Get weird with it!

I spotted a lovely little Palm Warbler perching on a Nutter's Battery branch this week. Stopped by Central Park on its way south from Canada to Florida/Caribbean. Safe travels! 🥰🥰🥰 #Warblers #CentralPark #birdsseenin2026

The dam removals that get the most press tend to be superlative western ones, like the Klamath and Elwha—big rivers, big fish. For @biographic.bsky.social, I wrote about some equally vital, under-the-radar projects now restoring eastern streams, one old mill dam at a time. #AlewivesAreTheNewSalmon

bioGraphic@biographic.bsky.social

"If eco-social anomie describes a societal forgetting, dam removal achieves the opposite—a collective remembering that cures our amnesia and unshifts our baselines." A beautiful @bengoldfarb.bsky.social story about the centuries-old dams choking New England's rivers, & the people setting them free

I played plenty of games before, but Planescape: Torment blew my MIND. So many branching possibilities, and how you unlocked more information about yourself and your surroundings had no equal.

This is exactly why I'm making Breakaway's backgrounds the way that I am. I find the class track in RPGs boring, I want shit to get really weird.

Delaney King (In Yellow)@delaneyking.bsky.social

I personally find levelling up a class ladder an infuriatingly dumb mechanic for character advancement in a game where you are supposed to be creating and exploring individual characters...

Big Video Game be like NOOO you can't go out of bounds! That's not our intended game experience! You're gonna ruin your immersion!! Meanwhile games made by like two Finnish devs with sleep deprivation and drugs are "what boundaries? You just broke free of the tutorial! The real game starts now!"
