i don't think it's that crazy it's a lot harder to use public money to build a complicated interconnected grid of rail infrastructure than it is to use private money to build a bunch of big warehouses. like i don't think it's great only one of those is possible but what i do not think it is is crazy

I remember many yrs ago one of my regular customers asked another of my regular customers "I seen you in Shields th other day with a couple of [racial slur] teenagers, what was that about that?" And the other guy replied "Do you mean my fucking grandchildren?" Never seen a man visibly shrink so fast

1. And ultimately, I did think about Age of Empires II, but only so I could remember how much worse it is than the obvious best game of 1999, Star Wars Episode I: The Gungan Frontier @batariangal.eurosky.social

Why Matt in particular is a awful person to have so much clout with elites is because he comes at “follow the data, the vaunted data” and then just lies
Matthew Yglesias continues to say that talking about ICE and excessive force in immigration enforcement helps Republicans. He is obviously wrong about this and refuses to acknowledge the data. Way past time for everyone to update their priors on this.

They repeatedly covered Trump's appealing promises that he had no way to enact as if they were real and Trump's unappealing promises that he would have the direct authority over as if they were fake - even writing stories farcically confirming Trump's attempts to distance himself from Project2025

This vindictive targeting of career civil servants by Trump fascists precisely because they had served honorably was one of the things clearly at stake in 2024 - Trump promised it - but the media instead gave more coverage to the imaginary idea that Trump had a plan to lower prices to 2019 levels
Attorney for 20-year FBI veteran targeted by Trump allies and then charged with lying to Congress says he “protected our democracy against those who would destroy it.” “This is another sad day for the Department of Justice.” www.nbcnews.com/politics/jus...

This question could more accurately be phrased "Why are we asking the people who benefit most from a policy to contribute towards it?", but when you do that it looks ridiculous, especially from a Labour MP.
🔴 Labour MP @neilduncanjordan.bsky.social warns that plans to adjust the triple lock could be as politically unpopular as Keir Starmer’s winter fuel debacle “Why are we funding a new flagship policy on the backs of our oldest citizens?” www.politics.co.uk/2026/10/burn...
