1. Not sure when a new, on-the-record rape allegation against a sitting president isn’t considered news — especially considering Trump was found liable by a jury in a similar case — but it was ignored by most mainstream media outlets

if voting didn't matter they wouldn't be working so hard to stop you

The long-serving strongman leader of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, has conceded defeat in an election that pitted him and his right-wing party against a diverse student-led opposition movement that spent two years protesting his government.

American conservatives are constantly bemoaning the decline of aesthetic standards and calling for a return to tailored suits and classical Roman architecture, but are now forced to defend the Cheesecake Factory. A constant tension between the Brooks Brothers patrician and the Kid Rock populist.

Everyone thought Lula was cooked, hopeless. Then he bought a phone and started posting and now he's gonna get a 4th term. The lesson is to never stop posting.

if you ever happen to see someone post a joke you don't understand or discuss a subject you aren't familiar with, you are well within your right to complain, and perhaps even scold them if necessary. you are their customer and you have rights

My critical review of You Can See Everything: Y'all impress too easy. Orson Welles pulled off this trick in '75 AND kept it under 90 minutes. Four stars.

I feel like comic books are an easy answer here. Still dominated by capes, sure, but I was born the year Image was founded and the sheer variety of what is available to readers now is staggering when you compare against before I was born or even during my childhood.

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

Ramaswamy is doubling down on the ad starring Amy Acton's abusive mother defending Acton's rapist and calling her a liar about it at age 12 because Republican politicians and voters ideologically support the physical and sexual abuse of women and children by men, whom they see as their owners.

Vivek putting money behind it now.

I haven't understood any one of these jokes and I won't read the Wired articles but I genuinely am glad a lot of people are having a fun time 🧡

we gotta bring back shame, man society doesn’t work real well without consequences for being an enormous piece of shit in public

I have a deep commitment to an egalitarian, livable society. But even deeper than that, at the core of everything I do politically and the countless hours I've put into political work in the past two decades is a true, unyielding hatred for the Republican Party. Delende sunt.

This is the iron core of the book-banning, anti-library movement. Right-wingers believe that children are property, and that by coming into contact with ideas about race or gender or sexuality, their property is being "damaged." They see their attacks on libraries as castle doctrine

Nathan Goldwag@goldwagnathan.bsky.social

Republicans believe that parents own their children, and should be able to treat them as they wish.

As a librarian, there is nothing you can say that will anger a right-wing step/parent more than refusing to tell them if their child is at the library or not. The idea that children have a right to privacy is anathema, inconceivable. It would be like my sedan having that right. Where is my CAR?

Just got all my boys together to take on the wandering ronin who came to town. There’s like 15 of us and only one of him so pretty much the only thing that would give me any pause is if he was master of the devastating and lightning-fast iaidō style. But that’s not likely. North Carolina to republicans:

ncearly.peark.es is updated for Day 6 of early vote. Black, Asian, Latino, and Democratic-registered voter share of the electorate running *above 2024 levels* while registered Republicans are 20.7% of ballots....they were 33.6% in 2024 and around 30% the last two midterms. White Rs are the reason.

One thing that I think is starting to sink in here and you can see it in the thousand yard stares is that there is not actually one weird leftist trick to solve the fact that voters are idiots.

Postmodernists in shambles as the right single handedly redraws the objective battle lines of "good" and "evil" for the 21st century. Grand narratives are BACK it's literally right vs. wrong and our enemies are proud of their evil.
