Katie Zacharia on failing the bar exam: "We just said, 'I'll take the bar and see what happens.' The results are somewhat inconsequential because I knew I wouldn't need the bar in China." (She spent years lying that she's an attorney!)

It is my understanding that she was a paid intern at a law firm in China. So, yes, you don't need to pass the bar for that. The results are consequential however. Because she failed, she cannot call herself a lawyer.

There are also numerous clips where someone refers to her as an “attorney” and she fails to correct them. So even her stupid “lawyer/attorney” distinction falls apart under the slightest scrutiny.

Well.. since she isn’t known to speak or read Chinese, she’s not likely to have taken the Chinese bar exam. Unless it was a bar in a restaurant and the menu was in English. Per Wikipedia, you can’t take the bar exam in China without being a Chinese citizen. So, another lie to be easily debunked.

Lawyer here. It doesn't work like that. Any bar, state or fed, is going to have a problem with her saying otherwise. Welcome to never becoming an actual lawyer, you grifting dipshit. (Ironically, her resulting & inevitable Fox News gig after will pay way better than if she was a real lawyer.)

She didn't fail the bar exam. "It didn't go your way.' It was the bar exam's fault. Actually a lot of people fail bar exams but then they take it again or work as a paralegal or something instead of pretending they are an "attorney" or a "lawyer."

I’m off to China tomorrow to pass my bar exam, and see what happens… maybe I’ll be press secretary for an 🍊💩🤡 one day!

It was “inconsequential” only if you never planned on practicing law in the U.S. or presenting yourself as a lawyer. A law degree is a JD. The reputation of those letters has taken a hit.

She is a law school graduate, but not a "lawyer" or "attorney." As such, claiming that she is an attorney/lawyer is an ethics violation. Think the ABA wants to bring censure her?

I don’t understand why a US law firm operating in China wouldn’t want a fully licensed lawyer who’s passed the bar. She said she was doing multi million dollar cross border transactions. Those clients would expect that all associates have been called to the bar. Also, what E&O insurance was there?

Thank you Katie Z for establishing right off the bat that you are a liar, deceptive, willing to use “alternative facts” and cannot be trusted. Exactly what we expected, but it’s nice to have it made so clear, so early.

She is perfect for the Trump "administration." Day #1... basic lie about her basic self. Now she's wriggled out of it with bullshit. She's perfect for MAGA! Absolutely perfect.😁

Ahh, so the lettuce might actually get wasted after all... 😉 bsky.app/profile/atru...

I don't think Trump is willing to accept the embarrassment that would come with firing Katie Zacharia (it would reflect quite poorly on him!), so my prediction is she becomes Stephanie Grisham 2.0 -- a press secretary who does nothing but puff interviews on Fox and doesn't brief

"Somewhat inconsequential..." Now there's a combo that you don't see that often. Most of us would just say "Doesn't matter..." I suspect Ms. Zacharia has never discovered anything she did to be "consequential," am I right?

Sadly, I think you're right. All federal law enforcement agencies have been corrupted by this Republican regime. No Republican allies will be held to account, nor will any wealthy person who pays the appropriate bribe.

Pretty sure they teach in law school that you are not a lawyer until you pass the bar. But in Katie's defense, she may have never learned it, along with all the other things she obviously failed to learn and showed up on her bar exam. Soon she will learn one thing: Ignorantia juris non excusat.

I don't remember being told that in law school. But I do know there isn't a lawyer in this country who didn't have the difference between having a J.D. and being a lawyer trauma-branded into their goddamn cortex by four months of bar cram courses, the exams and the interminable wait for the results.

She has been shopping different lies all over the place. Here it's said that she told someone that other people told her it was okay to call herself a lawyer. Anyone who knows the topic, or knows a lawyer, knows that's a lie. No group guards their credentials tighter than lawyers. It's a crime in CA

Obviously the Corrupt MAGA Trump Administration verifies her credentials that she’s a habitual liar and that qualified her for any position in MAGA’s Cult Administration

Senile Satan doesn’t like getting embarrassed. In fact, he’s destroying our country to avoid it. I assume we’re gonna see very few actual press briefings from here until he strokes out, our we drag him out.

This is undoubtedly the first time in history that anyone who has sat for a bar exam has called the results “somewhat inconsequential”. It is as big a deal as anything in your life.

What sort of idiot devotes four years to getting a Juris Doctor degree at a reputable law school & then says "well, taking the bar is optional"?! She failed because she couldn't cut it.

Failing the bar is inconsequential, as long as you're never going to practice law, which this disgusting lying bitch never has.

These are the same people who refused to promote/fired HIGHLY qualified and experienced people because they are BLACK. Even if she gets fired, the fact that she was able to fail this far up is INFURIATING

I see your “infuriating” and raise you an “utterly disgusting”. They’ll be gone soon, I keep telling myself. Hopefully to somewhere nice, like jail.

But it's par. Whenever white Republicans talk about meritocracy, that only applies to everyone else. AKA white privilege which they deny is real.

This seems like an odd issue to focus on, with these awful people. Yes, she lied. They all lie. That's why she was hired, because she lies, but it seems odd to be upset about a person who legit graduated law school, calling themself a lawyer, because they lie too.

"I'll just take the bar and see what happens." Translation: I studied like a fiend for the damn thing and still failed. But I didn't feel like trying anymore, so I decided to say I don't care and just act like I passed. Gosh, why is everybody so uptight?

She worked for a law firm that provided services to the government and the Communist Party. And nobody asked her any questions before she got this job? Was she not vetted at all? Or did she just get it because she came in wearing carpenter kneepads and had Cheeto dust around her mouth?

An attorney is a lawyer who is licensed to practice law AND sworn in to be admitted to court. A lawyer is a person who graduated from law school but is not licensed. To be fair, California’s bar exam is notoriously difficult.

My DEI and Affirmative Action sister passed the New York State Bar exam the first time out the gate. A DEI hire would have been a better choice. But you know how MAGA feels about DEI.

So she is claiming that the Chinese law firm hired her as "associate", when she did not pass any bar anywhere, and they consider her law degree alone as sufficient credentials to be "associate" and to hold herself out as "outside counsel" for International Finance Corporation and the World Bank.

The Zhong Lun law firm is one of the largest law firms in China. Would they agree that they would hire associates merely based on a law degree and they don't require their associates to have a bar license anywhere?

Even if the Chinese law firm considered her law degree to be sufficient for her to work as an associate at their firm in Beijing, how does a private Chinese law firm's acceptance of her credentials for working in China entitle her to call herself a lawyer in the US?

Spent years cosplaying as a lawyer, then the real bar exam was 'inconsequential.' Of course it was. The one test you can't spin your way through is always the one that doesn't count.

Oh BLAHH, BLAHH, BLAHHHH Lady. You lied for years and somehow, never thought you would get caught. Time to lawyer up. (yes, a real one).

She claimed to be legal counsel for a California non profit. Even holding yourself as legal counsel, even if you didn't ever actually provide services, is a misdemeanor in California.

I believe she resides in CA, and has stated she was “General Counsel” for a CA nonprofit on her LinkedIn profile, so a complaint has already been filed against her with the State Bar of California.

Under California Business and Professions Code Section 6126(a), it is a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in county jail, a $1,000 fine, or both, for an unlicensed person to hold themselves out as practicing or entitled to practice law in the state.

Gee whiz is that kinda like overstaying your Visa Being late on a Green Card renewal Having a tourist visa & not reporting address change or just crossing the border undocumented all misdemeanors w specific fines or agencies to deal w the misdemeanors or CIVIL infractions/crime So no big deal huh😏

I think if a corporation wants to hire a non-lawyer as general counsel they can. But I'd like to see the stats on how many GC's are not practicing lawyers. I can't see a lot of companies hiring a person who hasn't passed the bar and therefore never actually practiced law as the firm's legal counsel.

I said, 'I'll just take this airline pilots' test and see what happens.' The results are inconsequential because I only fly airliners with plants painted on them. Unlike most pilots, I understand that plants crave electrolytes...."

She's rushing through the phases of Trump Denial ™ awfully quickly. She's at the "Of course I lied, but it doesn't matter" phase after less than 48 hours. Impressive.

I've known fairly competent attorneys who didn't pass the NC State Bar on their first attempt. It's a bit more of a hazing than a real test of knowledge or ability, tbh. It's a dumb thing to lie about.

Failing the bar isn’t the issue. Katie Zacharia failed it, never became licensed in a U.S. jurisdiction, and then repeatedly presented herself publicly as a lawyer. Saying the result was “inconsequential” because she planned to work in China doesn’t explain the years that followed.

Katie Zacharia on failing the bar exam: "I certainly don't understand how I could have failed the exam... why, I made sure I dotted all my i's with smiley faces and put a big lipstick kiss on each page...."

Katie Zacharia has the perfect credentials to be Trump’s White House press secretary. The willingness to lie is the number one requirement, and with her “legal” background in question, she appears to have a natural gift for altering the facts. However, she does need to wear a large gold cross.
