I still have such admiration for Louis as a comedian and a filmmaker. as a person it's gone. I am really upset that he has leaned into being a dickhead because Hollywood kicked him out. I get his grievance, but he could still make stuff like Horace and Pete as a failed star. come on now

was all financially based-started to turn w/colleges ending their comics on campus tours-he made $$-the ‘cancel culture’ he loves to slam, followed by the shutdown cancelling his appearances & making his show remote, got vaccinated & still got covid, also lost his hotel circuit, lost $ went red

Fucker lost me when he complained about college audiences being too politically correct to laugh at his boring comments. Laughter doesn't work that way. I have laughed at so many objectionable things because in that moment with that delivery it was funny. #maher is not funny.

Maher likes to pretend he’s taken the baton from his hero George Carlin. But Carlin had guts and he didn’t pick on women, minorities, college students for Palestinian or fat people. Oh, and unlike Maher, Carlin was actually FuNNY!!!

Yes. I think Maher always resented that Obama never came on his show after the donation. He then started his downward slide with Covid denial, Musk platforming, woke mind virus and now Trump buddy.

He upset about the Covid closures because he had a financial stake in the Mets.With the closures he still had to pay the players (he lost a ton of money).Also, he couldn’t do his live performances.His HBO show was tooled to do from his backyard.His stance on vaccines was supercharged by his finances

He also rails on anything that affects his finances. His solar panel installation saga dragged on for years. He kept blaming Cal’s cumbersome permit process, and even begged Gov.Newsom to help cut through the red tape. He told Maher that it wasn’t a California permit issue but a local county issue.

Louis CK would be interesting. He’s one of the only canceled comedians who doesn’t pretend to be a victim. Meanwhile, Bill Maher had bought into all the right wing fascist anti-woke cancel culture bullshit. Bill’s anti-woke bullshit is rooted in the fear of being canceled.

I remember three or four years ago when they were talking about the final season supposedly. I guess a tiny but influential group of neoliberals panicked and now they’re gonna keep him on TV for years and years until he is some sort of fucked up cyborg husk like Darth Vader a Dick Cheney.

That is not a forgone conclusion. Most of the states were their corporate assets are held are suing them under state antitrust laws. We need to run up the clock and then in two years we get a competent FTC and FCC. There are many ways to slow a corporate merger and even more so after the midterms.

The last Kennedy center Mark Twain ceremony that will count until further notice is Conan’s. If you haven’t seen it, it’s on Netflix and it’s a celebration of the funniest and kindest people in comedy. I wouldn’t watch this one at gunpoint.

A good way to identify that someone is probably a decent person is they say sincerely (it’s hard to tell online, of course, but you give that vibe) “thank you for correcting me.” That is a person who puts wanting to learn above wanting to be right!
