The “Late Show with Stephen Colbert” ends this week. The demise of the long-running franchise made our critic Wesley Morris think of another late-night show: “Saturday Night Live.” Maybe, after 51 years, “SNL” should end, too. nyti.ms/42RZABJ

In times like these, write an article pretending Colbert was cancelled for any reason other than Trump, and advocate for shutting ANY comedic show, is like signing a certificate for ASSHOLE. Geez.

It's like you guys have a competition over who can write the shittiest, most ass-kissing-to-oligarchs, contrived tripe. The NYT is on the National Enquirer tier now. Lower actually, since the Enquirer doesn't try to put on airs like you quisling shitbags.

Get absolutely fucked. Your puzzles ain't worth your bullshit articles. You dimwitted fucks are a week out from: "Spaghetti strap tank tops: were they actually the cause of rape?" Gain some fucking integrity. Or shame. Fuck you.

After 174 years the New York Times should look at winding down operations. No longer concerned with the truth, or informing the populace about important issues, the Gray Lady has run its course.

Is Wesley the name of your AI? Cuz I'm not sure how a human could write this, what with their vision being obscured by Trump's soggy, pockmarked taint.

I believe that the quality of SNL is the same as it always was. I think people have a nostalgy bias. Let's say there was 10 good sketches by season. That's 510 compare to 10. Obliviously, people will think that it was better before.

Every goddamn day you fools publish something that pushes me more to cancel the subscription. I swear to god if I wasn’t a journalism major 20 years ago who dreamed of being a reporter, that trigger woulda been pulled years ago.

I just watched the full ~55 minutes. I'm impressed by how much Morris and Zinoman have analyzed comedy sketch shows. I'm a bit surprised that in their historical dig they failed to reference "Fridays" or "MAD TV" (e.g., the former gave us Larry David and Michael Richards; the latter Alex Borstein)

Are 51 Year Olds Too Old To Find Things Funny Anymore? Our Wesley Morris takes a deep dive into his Netflix queue to find out. New York Times, plumbing depths again, I see.....

Sloppy excuses for the Trump Administration's interference with the free press will not get him to stop calling the Times fake news. Have a modicum of self-respect, please.

So, Wesley? You're making the argument that SNL should be forced off the air to serve a political end, as well? Because given Larry Ellison's well known involvement with CBS, this is the only way such a statement could be interpreted.....

Is Wesley Morris living under a rock? Does your critic really think Colbert's cancellation was a business-driven one and not based on literally everything else going on with CBS for the past year?

I wonder if NY Times knows that convoluted questions are neither journalism nor headlines? Do you think they know? Are questions in a clickbait article relevant when the article itself is not? Look at me! I did three unanswered questions! I’m officially talented enough to write for the NY Times!

My lord!! Are you serious here? SNL is great, my 20 year old kids watch with their friends - HOWEVER the point here being - he’s off the air due to an edict by the president!! Censorship. Full blown… you’re the “free press” - and this is your take??

Yes we should cancel all things that the POTUS does not like regardless of how much they are ingrained as cultural instituitions, my god, NYT doing it's role of Fascist simp so well.
