The Economist indulging in playground insults? Classy.

Telling a woman to shut up when she’s asking about the attack ad you’ve backed calling a pedophilia victim a loser is like a turducken pf misogyny

UK ‘wealth exodus’ was manufactured by the press. The press complaints body IPSO must investigate or step aside. The story started with one study which now admits it has no evidence. Media owned by corporations and the super rich lapped it up, served their economic interest, ideological purpose.

This country cannot remain allied to a nation that condones public execution for entertainment. I cannot scarcely believe the depths to which the US is sinking.

For songs about pain, romance and the human condition how can an AI artist, that could never take to the stage and be vulnerable, capture that? These people are freaks.

Some songs, particularly when heard live, capture a time, place and a feeling. AI generated music occupies the same emotional space as cheap advertising jingles, disposable plastic and disconnected. It's as if these men (because it's oddly always men) just refuse to understand art.

As usual, surprise, surprise, based on a report by a think tank co-founded and directed by Andrew Haldenby, formerDirector of Studies at Tufton St’s Centre for Policy Studies, previously of the Conservative Research Department.

There is a non-zero probability that not only are we are the only civilization in the galaxy to solve EUV lithography we may be the only civilisation to be reliant enough on semiconductors to necessitate the effort. It truly is technology bordering on science fiction.

I realised today that it’s been a long, long time since I’ve heard anyone making the case for safe and legal routes on the broadcast news. The ludicrous idea that irregular migration is somehow the most serious issue facing the country is all you ever hear.

Cab Davidson@gnomeicide.bsky.social

We have closed all safe and legal routes. This is all that's left. We can fix this by opening safe and legal asylum claims from the other side of the channel, breaking the criminal gangs overnight. That's just not racist enough. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

It is very hard to satisfactorily describe just how badly the BBC's journalistic standards have collapsed in recent years. Quite completely fucking useless.

Anthony Painter@anthonypainter.bsky.social

The major problem with this reporting - beyond its fundamental inaccuracy - is that when arrests are eventually made there will be no proper context and therefore it will seem like the state is smothering free expression.

I am so sick and tired of the politics of this country being dominated by a minute number of people illegally crossing the channel. There are so many bigger, and more troublesome, fish to fry. Housing, climate, care, water, transport, defence... All sacrificed at the altar of the fucking boats.

This is completely pathetic from the BBC. Do better!

The BBC news report simply says Mr Thomas broadcast a livestream. This seems highly inadequate in quite a lengthy report, leaving out such key details: what he did; the French stating the behaviour was unlawful www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Peaceful environmental activism results in record jail sentences and prosecutions under terrorism. Yet far-right activism brandishing knives against and intimidating the RNLI seem to be "legitimate concerns" and are left unanswered.

[Press Release] 11 Greenpeace activists face unprecedented 5-year punishment in Spain for peaceful climate action The trial of 11 Greenpeace activists began today in Valencia with Spain’s Public Prosecutor seeking one of the harshest punishments ever in Europe for peaceful environmental protest.

I don't think we disdain the center-right enough. First, they rode nativist populist tigers to power to get their tax cuts and deregulation; Then, they lost control of their own parties to those tigers; Now, they sit in lucrative jobs as columnists writing about how it's all the left's fault.

Why does the BBC have as one of its lead news stories this morning another Britain-hating interview with Jim 'the UK has been colonised by immigrants' Ratcliffe? What public interest is this serving?

While Piddington dominates the news, at Leicester Crown Court this man was sentenced today Ivan Jennings, a former Conservative councillor, called for terror attacks on small boat migrants and Muslims and shared target ideas, telling fellow white supremacists to kill as many “subhumans” as possible

The balaclava blackshirted thugs are a result of a decade of politicians, tabloids and the broadcast media telling racists they have "legitimate concerns." The normalisation of actual fascism rhetoric and action has led to this and is a far greater "legitimate concern" than any migrant on a boat.

BUT it seems self-evident that X and the things it pushes on to the vast majority of sensible British politicians and pundits who use it every day, is having a non-zero effect on their worldview, most obviously in the valence of news events, and their conception of how the "public" feels about them.
