Post

From the vicious, vile, rabid fandom that's been harassing, doxxing and threatening us since 2016, I say they can fuck off. Their "bend the knee" BS for 10 years is poisonous to our party ( the party they hate btw). They're on their own as far as I'm concerned. No money. No volunteering.

This the wild thing, I've seen at least one person post about how El-Sayed will have to try to win Michigan without the black vote. Like ok, so you're choosing to enable Trump. Because that's the conversation we're having. And yet they try to blame liberals when we hate their candidate.

Sir, I am a white male Bernie supporter (c. 2016-2020), I'm not an expert on why black voters are so adamently against progressives, but that's just more reason to show out **FOR** black and other minority voters. The only idea I have is to prove to everyone that life doesn't have to suck.

I do not trust any poll suggesting that Michigan voters prefer Stevens. She had no ground game, no strategy, no agenda, and the strongest support of her I heard is that she helped negotiate the auto bailout almost 20 years ago. Rodgers couldn’t beat Slotkin when Trump was on the ballot.

When I say "DSA is a cancer" I'm referring to their strategy of taking over the Democratic Party. (see Maurice Isserman) These are some things that might come up in a general election that a DSA or DSA-adjacent candidate might want to prep for.

There's a certain type of corrupt "moderate Democrat" who wants to build that coalition and win. There's another type of corrupt "moderate Democrat" who wants to stay in the minority and do crimes.

In reality, all of the DSA candidates will, if elected, pivot toward the center in order to get things done and build alliances. Much like Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez, who drive change incrementally and vote party line. Bonus: you get reps that are less beholden to corporate interests.

Who said weirdos? My problem with DSA is there lack of ground game. My local Dem party has people Out knocking on doors. Doing voter registration. Hosting candidate forums. I’d don’t see that from DSA. I see them relying on the work in communities Democrats they disparage are doing.

Seems like the consulting class Democrats and the establishment Democrats have already made up their mind and going forward will continue to minimalize arguably the biggest progressive movement we have seen in these modern times

New in Realty: Influencers have a choice to make You can spend the next three months doing this reinforcing Republican messaging about the Democrats and making it less likely Dems take power. Or you could put your attention whoring and grifting off for a while and do what you can to help Dems win.

how much shade do you think Schumer and Jefferies are gonna throw? I imagine it will be a lot because their support is conditional on not upsetting the apple cart.

This was a good read. And I think this is the turning point for Dems. We're in 2026 and we can all see how bad the Repubs have made our daily lives. And I also think that if AES continues to do and say the things he has been, he has a good chance of beating Rogers. Rogers lost last time.

If El-Sayed wins, I hope moderate dems and independents actually listen to what he's saying. One always has to remember that as a Senator he won't control what bills come to the floor or how other senators vote. They may not agree with him on multiple things but he's not a trump republican.

The left wants to take on the money and power of the obscenely rich. The centrists want to cash their checks. That's why they oppose the left. They're protecting their capitalist masters and preserving the gravy train.

Duh. There's a reason why these SD are succeeding in primaries. What they are saying is Very. Very. Popular. So MD are just going to have to abandon their cozy, lucrative relationships with PACs and Corporations or face extinction.

This ☝️, this is serious, dems need to focus on what’s important here and not be baited and divided by suspect accounts and bots online, the created divide spills out and is picked up by legacy media and RW media, the rest is history.

We need to ditch the labels and look at results. Who cares what free childcare is called? We would never have new inventions without ideas.

Republicans succumbed to a single power structure. Now there's couple of Democrats in Congress trying grab all the power for themselves and freeze out everyone else. Their messaging sucks, it's almost nonexistent. Republicans are going at it hot and heavy. Dems have to embrace all the factions.

From my experience, it’s the leftists who are whining about traditional liberals. I will vote like hell for DSA-approved candidates if they win our party’s nomination at any level, but I have no confidence they’ll do the same on behalf of moderate nominees.

2 ideas for Dems: 1. You need a different message in the South than in a Northeastern metro area. It’s ok to have Talerico in TX, a DS in NYC & a blue dog in Alaska 2. GOP running the likes of Paxton, M. Miller & V. Marx is way worse than the most radical DS. Hit back harder at the GOP freak show

The dems in Michigan can feel good about nominating someone that will take care of them, but unless they are 100% dedicated to fighting the trump criminal machine, there won't be anything to take care of.

The corrupt genocidal “centrist” Democrats would rather have Trump in power than support the “left” because that’s what their donors want.

Democrats are not the problem. They will largely come around. Getting purple state independents to vote for candidates who self identify as socialists is the challenge.

They do not want the dirty masses to know that our government creates our currency and banks create loans. So everything gets paid for either by government spending or bank lending Thus the need for the myth that tax payers create our national currency

Moderate Democrats didn't hold a rally calling this a Battle for the Soul of the Party. That was AES. Now, VBNW, but let's not pretend this is one-sided.

I would agree with El Sayed if the Democratic party still had a soul. They sold it out a long time ago to their donors and they’ve been dancing with that devil on American graves ever since. Which is not to say some individual party members aren’t fighting the good fight. But the party as a whole? 😬

And just to be clear. A party with a soul would state unequivocally and unanimously, we will end medical bankruptcy, we will establish a living wage that increases automatically with inflation, we will end our support for Israel’s military, we will aggressively address climate change. Bare minimum.

The other half of the message is that moving left—strategically, with issues that energize voters—is the only viable way to accomplish this, in the short-term and longer-term. Tacking to the center has proven to be a losing strategy, with temporary wins at best. The Biden era is a cautionary tale.

Fighting fascism, was what voting against president Project2025 was all about….Project2025 is what is happening now, and Trump is not voluntarily leaving. Coup 1.0 failed. GOP are lazer focused on ensuring Coup 2.0 is successful.

This is such BS. Waldman wants moderate Dems to support progressives if they win primaries, but the problem is that too often the opposite does not occur (progressives don't support moderate Dems - remember Harris losing to Trump?)

Left wing too busy fighting itself to fight the right wing. Sounds familiar. Hello from the UK guys, we've been historically good at that too. Good luck sorting yourselves out, only advice is for every one of you to decide whether your priority is purity, revenge or stopping the fascists.

These leftists* are loud about what they are FOR rather than just running against 7rump/GOP. And the consulting class fears for their gravy train. *That shiver you felt was a collective eye-roll from Europe.

That can only happen if you actually have real policy goals and how you realistically plan to achieve them. Some folks only have hate and lies to sell. Easier to over promise things to white folks who like to be lied to despite knowing there is no actual plan on how to implement those goals.

“Moderate” is a way for conservatives to not be branded GOPalite. “Moderate” positions are steeped in mediocrity that flirts with conservative positions. Limits to providing healthcare, child/elder care, housing, higher education and renewable energy. It’s 1980’s GOP orthodoxy.

Well, no, actually, I'd say that the radical minority of the party needs to grow up and support the people who can win the election and stop whining about how "unfair" everything is. They sound like Trump and it's not pretty.

Yeah that's literally what the article says, you just disagree about which shoe is on which foot because you haven't been paying attention.

Ironic considerimg someone was just screaming that I'm a genocider at me? Lol If the choice is "blindly support the left that pours hate on moderates for the next 5 months" that may be a losing fight for the left. To quote the left, you may have to CONVINCE moderate voters you dont hate them.

I live in Illinois. We’ve always had to choose between the least unpleasant candidate. People need to get over themselves, hold their nose if necessary, and vote for the party that isn’t trying to kill us.

As a voter in Michigan…I just wish there were better candidates to choose from. On both sides of the aisle. Is this the best we can do? 🤦🏻‍♀️

Any Dem lawmaker who engages a left vs. center Dem fight is wasting time and resources. We are trying to take down a racist, fascist authoritarian regime, there's no time right now for inter-party bickering. Period.

Republicans coalesced around an incompetent fascist, why shouldn't democrats coalesce around people urging something currently practiced by the countries with the world's highest standards of living?

Democrats vote for Democrats. No hyphrnated descriptors needed in front of Democrat. Push whatever narrative you want, the base of the party always put in the work and we recognize our electeds who do the job. Chaos is the perfect time for opportunist. Choose wisely people.

i want the fight now. a major political realignment is under way. the ideas need to be tested by an election before 2028. it’s better it happens now rather during an even more consequential election. at most we lose 2 years of what will mostly likely be the inability to stop T.

Moderate Democrats are just imperialists. Imperialism=slavery. I get that most Americans love the shit out of slavery as long as it is happening in other countries, but I don’t. VBNMW is dumb AF. Vote for progress, or you’re just a shill for the status quo violence of imperialism and capitalism.

More like a battle of no soul/expediency vs. a creed of progressive democracy. Corporate democrats should realize that there is road back to Clintonian triangulation if the progressives win this round. If the fascists win, game over.

Or they could stop reinforcing the "taxpayer money" myth and start explaining that government doesn't need to "afford" anything. That's how you win. Stop fighting on their terms. Fiat means choices. Start making the right ones.

Bill Kristol@billkristolbulwark.bsky.social

Tim and I in sync: The left & center-left are acting like the other is the enemy—and not Trump. C’mon, Dems! Keep your eye on the ball: Trump & the corruption, lying, & danger of his administration. And why is Schumer cutting a deal w/ Republicans? And how about Max Miller? youtu.be/rRwKwJsjSDg?...

Can someone even tell me what makes Abdul not a moderate Dem but a left Democrat. I'm seriously unable to tell the difference anymore other than media giving them a title of socialist. I don't know one moderate Democrat that doesn't want some type of Medicare expansion

Or they can let the individual candidates run on policies that reflect their constituents. In the midwest you run as a moderate and if you're living in NYC then you're going to run to the left. What is the big deal. It's actually the center left news that's helping Fox News make this a problem.

Most progressive democrats - including AOC and Bernie - are social democrats, not socialists, regardless of the labels. There's endless yammering about centrist, moderate, and leftist Democrats, with hardly a word about actual policies. What are the big divides? Who can play in the WNBA?

We are in the upside down, and true blue here.. the difference is opportunists! Some "moderates"... listen and learn from the whole party, and can put their feet in others shoes, come together with diversity, also everyone to their own uniqueness, no one should be shoved aside!

If we replaced “Moderate Democrats” with “Liberal Democrats,” the rest of the quote would have worked in 2016 and 2024, too. Everyone always has a choice to make: do they want to die of a theory or win elections.

There were many far left who didn't vote for Harris because of her stance on Israel. There were lots of far left "bros" who wouldn't vote for her because they were mad they didn't get a primary. I didn't say I wouldn't vote for a far left I just said it's ironic.

True. 2016 was a pivotal election. That's when Repubs were on track to take control of the Supreme Court. I argued with Berine bots telling them how important it was to vote for Hillary. They were all up in their feelings because old Bernie wasn't the nominee.

This talking point doesn’t even make sense on the surface. Harris lost every swing state - how many progressives do you think there are in Arizona? Nevada? (Hint: Not enough to swing them across election cycles.) It was mostly moderates who stayed home in ‘24.

Sadly, Dem politics has become zero sum when, in fact, we need moderates and progressives in order to win. The battle should not be an internal one. The battle is against MAGA, bigotry, racism, misogyny, grift, greed, White Supremacy, Christian Nationalism. It 1950's vs 21st century.

I am getting very tired of all the hand wringing about the ideology of Democratic candidates while the Republican party has fully embraced Fascism. There are almost no remaining Moderate Republicans. Shouldn't that be the story?

Another example that there is more than enough diversity within the Democratic Party to offer ample representative choice to the electorate. The Republican Party is a fascist movement that must be eradicated from the American government if we hope to return to the pursuit of an egalitarian society.

Why don’t you go after the dirtbag left once in awhile? They don’t run against republicans. Instead, they just helped elect Trump twice.

Every word of this. And so-called moderates, realize this: whoever it is, the Democrat will be the most moderate candidate in every race this fall. Learn to fight the GOP, which is exactly what voters are telling you to do.

If the entire premise is wrong from the start, there is nothing to discuss. You’re denigrating Democrats to push your agenda. You are decreasing voter turnout with vitriol. After you do this, you will need those same Democrats to vote for you…. Here, you may find the impact of your choices.

"Moderate Democrats" - Fascist adjacent because corporate money is so so so so so so so so so sweet. Just ask their portfolios or the portfolios of their family members.

Oh fuck off. The far left have done nothing but reinforce Republican messaging and demonize the entire Democratic party as being pure evil. They have done more to depress voter turnout for Democrats than anyone else. IT'S YOU. Where were you all in 2024? We've been here the entire fucking time.

Moderate Dems: The leftists shouldn't stand outside the Democratic party and criticize it. They should work from within the party to change it. Also Moderate Dems: OH NO! The leftists cannot be allowed to change the Democratic party from inside!

I assure you there's lots of dems who have made their whole identity hating and loathing demsocs well before Israel/Palestine became politically relevant in US politics. 2016 at the very latest; a generation of Dem officials were in-group conditioned against Sanders, for example.

I'm not sure it's all on Bernie, though. For a long time now it's been the tendency of centrists to blame any failure of centrism on overreach from the left, whether or not the left had any power to reach at all (and often while the left supplies policy, cover, and manpower to elect the center).

Thank you for illustrating exactly the negative polarization I was discussing, where some Democrats didn't need I/P as an issue to decide that DemSocs were a more critical enemy to defeat than conservatives.

There are actual clips of Abdul saying he's a capitalist. Abdul is basically center-Left. Wants medicare for all & stopping overseas military adventures/aid which dont serve the US. If you're a registered Democrat and disagree with that platform you share more in common with MAGA than liberalism.

I’m a “moderate Dem” in some ways, mostly economic. But I would never in a bazillion years not support any Democrat. Well, OK I once voted for Ted Stevens over a nutcase Dem named Theresa Obermeyer in the 1996 AK Senate race. But that was a special case, google if you want to read about crazy.

You and me both, Kent. I’m not even a Democrat and there’s just no way I’d vote for anyone other than a Democrat. I’m not voting for a candidate or a party. I’m voting for democracy, the rule of law and equality for all Americans.

Speaking of gross (in both size and scope) you should get a load of what's happening in our government because THE DEMOCRATS couldn't distinguish themselves enough from MAGA and 77 million people voted for a maniac. How do centrists fit into this puzzle? Let's ask Schumer!

Lol, I like how in earlier comments you get offended that "you" get blamed for Kamala losing instead of people that voted for Trump, and then in the next comment you have no problem blaming other Democrats instead. What a fucking hypocrite.

The worse Democrat is better than any Republican. And that includes worthless hacks like Schumer, whose allegiance to Israel is, well, somewhat creepy. Nonetheless, I'd vote for him and others like him over any Republican.

Dunno why option 1 is so bad. Leftist Dems and DSA Dems are gonna keep winning and meanwhile establishment ghouls are gonna seal their own political fates by acting the way they have been towards the progressives. Sounds like a win-win in either case.

And if Haley wins, self described progressives have a choice to make- they can help Democrats take back the congress or continue to whine how they were cheated even though the selection relies on actua VOTERS

I think this is a debate being pushed to further divide anyone who isn’t Republican, and we should not play along. Who is saying they won’t vote for people more on the left vs a Republican, anyway? Certainly not voters who have always voted to reduce harm by always voting against Republicans.
