Post

i take this back, fully retract it, and i apologize for how i phrased this. i posted this while angry at the constant barrage of years of my life witnessing senseless murder in palestine, and this is no way to express my opinion, which is an end to all conflinct in the region. i’m sorry

Seems bad.

Phrasing is tough when emotions are high, but we all our complicit in what we allow and tolerate on this earth. Our taxes and silence enable the worst atrocities because we do not want to get involved and cause harm and suffering to ourselves. But what we must do is suffer to end suffering.

If we do not take a risk and put ourselves upon this task of holding our goverment and states accountable to justice and democracy for the people, these authoritarian actors within our borders will only continue to cause more suffering because they are suffering. We must break the cycle.

im ngl i cant help but suspect that some certain people prefer to hyperfocus on stuff like this because they don't feel comfortable talking about their more generic israel-palestine opinions because they are pretty much still zionists but realize that makes them look bad now

like sure not everyone who has a problem with stuff like this but I've come to recognize a pattern of certain ostensible "leftists" who spend most of their time finding someone further to the left by some metric or another, so that they can distance themselves from them

you know you're right. I know you're right. a lot of ppl don't. they don't want to deal with the chaos of nuance. that's fine. what isn't is making their lack-of-understanding problem a you problem. because you comprehend all too well the reality of this shitslop world.

you were not wrong and, arguably, your rhetoric was probably milder than it should have been like no Israelis deserved to die, but keep in mind that at that point Gaza had been under 18 years of constant besiegement by Israel, that isolated it from the outside world and brought immense shame

Your original tweet was correct. Nobody ever talks about any of the thousands of Palestinians Israel killed prior to October 7th with half as much animus and in the story of any decolonial struggle in world history the death of 1000 colonists isn’t even a blip on the radar.

When the U.S. government genocided the native Americans they explicitly put “innocent” civilians who happened to be poor on the border as a bulwark to protect the rich from reprisals from natives Nobody today talks about those people being killed because we know they were part of a genocidal process

You really shouldn't, especially because diet ethan klien losers tried attacking you. Those some of the weakest people around

i mean its a huge number of them, and does it matter if not everyone supports trump. the gaza genocide happened under biden, obama was terrorizing libya, clinton bombed iraq. their internal disputes dont change that youre getting bombed either way

these dudes spend all day trying to "catch" allies on the internet while the white house socials are tweeting out 14 words white supremacist propaganda. every once in a while someone trips up and becomes a meme, and they can claim to have defended their favorite middle eastern genocide

Apology appreciated. Seems worth noting that you basically arrived at the position Zohran put forward in his 10/7 statement (mourning the lives lost that day, acknowledging the suffering before and after by innocent Palestinians, and a prayer for peace), which you previously found unconscionable

This isn’t meant to be a gotcha or anything, but your apology is for the way you phrased your anger. It feels like you haven’t fully realized that the anger was based on Mamdani saying basically what you believe.

I have mixed feelings about it. Obviously Israeli children are innocent. Almost every adult has been in the IDF, but a tour is compulsory for most people and refusing leads to prison time (and I wouldn't be surprised if it puts some sort of black mark on you that makes it difficult to get a job).

I don't know if we should consider children in a country as citizens of said country, as they don't have the agency to choose their location

Why? There's no such thing as an innocent colonial settler living or supporting a country built on fundamentals of ethnic cleansing. It makes no sense. Choosing to go to a music festival on stolen land while the natives are being held behind fences closeby makes you complicit in it's actions

It's cool that whenever people apologize on the internet there's hundreds of replies yelling that they should have doubled down and actually apologizing is for weak cowards. Like holy shit everyone calm down. "Yes my liege crush them" scheming eunuch type ahhh behavior.

That you posted something like that… Please take a step back - multiple steps back, even! - and reassess, well, a lot of things.

Tbh, there isn't any need to apologize, you said nothing wrong. Israel ultimately, as it it now, shouldn't exist, no country should be a fascist ethno-state, especially when they purposely conflate their fascist ideology with a historically oppressed minority.

Too many people are quick to take words said in frustration and anger as a "gotcha", and gleefully pretend they've never said something they don't agree with. That said I think getting off of X would be good for you, and everyone tbh.

Your original take is correct here. Israelis and USians are complicit. That includes myself. Just because you aren't innocent doesn't mean you have to be thrown into the pit of unending torment or something

Yes, lots of them. I'm of German descent. Does that mean I am responsible for the Holocaust? No. and the same applies to innocent Americans,

If we are specifically talking about war and not like schoolyard bullying or something, then only children are completely innocent. The rest of us have varying levels of complicity. You could make an argument that someone who is comatose or otherwise unable to act is also innocent here.

Apologizing will not get the zio brigade from attacking you. Your original post was correct and those who pressured you into retracting and apologizing feed off the suffering of Palestinians, Lebanese, Syrians, and more.

It’s worth remembering that there are some brave Israelis standing up for equality. They are a small minority of the population though. It’s also worth saying that everybody feigning outrage about this has excused the same exaggerated totalizing rhetoric about other people at some point or another.

Hamas are terrorists. The majority of Palestinians unfortunately supported Hamas. Now they're waking up to what Hamas really was doing: using Palestinian life as an expendable resource of war.

The Israeli state is evil. A lot of Israeli civilians support the genocidal actions of the state. That doesn’t mean we should waver in our opposition to collective punishment

I think the point you were trying to make is accurate, it's just the definitive "no innocent Israeli"and "every Israeli is idf" when there are some who have refused and went to jail or fled.

Israel indiscriminately slaughters civilians its forced into ghettos, with the vast majority believing that children will grow up to be terrorists, and thus must he killed. For some reason we have infinite charity for zionists, but anti-zionists must he subject to the most bad-faith interpretations.

This is a space for free speech, community and learning. We all have said things in a heated moment that we might not have thought out fully, and while IRL we just shrug and move on, the Internet is not so forgiving... But the number of people in the replies happy to sacrifice children of Gaza? 🤮😡

Plus what that person said is completely disingenuous. Are they going to apologize for claiming that “innocent Israelis were joyfully slaughtered”? They should apologize for that.

Anyone saying "this is what being on Twitter does" is taking away agency and responsibility from a full grown adult the way the Nazis in the young conservative group chats were. Glad to see the retraction but even trying to add the qualifier in the apology is pretty abhorrent. This is disappointing

going on twitter as a leftist and telling yourself it has no effect on your opinions or mental state is dumb as fuck. yall just addicted to the bots on there giving you fake likes on yalls posts and shit. keep funding election interference and the destruction of USAID, maybe elon will thank u for it

i don't know if those posts were recent but i sincerely believe you need to cut your losses and leave that site because it's not worth losing composure over the losers that prosper from it.

"No innocent Israelis" is too totalizing and yes children too young to have yet had a choice to join the IDF or not ought to get a pass. But it's worth noting that the IDF and Israeli government 100% treats Palestinian children and indeed every Palestinian like they are already Hamas combatants.

I wonder if these people understand that this nihilistic pro 10/7 stance will only lead to more suffering. More animosity. And not just against Israelis. Hamas is a literal dead end. No capacity for governance. Just fanatical chaos, oppression and death. Much of it against Palestinians.

That jumped out to me as well. So much online discourse is colored by the fact that social media is inundating us with images of violence.

I think youre fine. I think you could say israelis are complicit in the genocide and occupation if not dissidents and itd be fair. Would never warrant civilian death but it does warrant arms embargo, sanctions, and even invasion at the height of the genocide if no other methods deter.

I don’t know if you are American, but it’s crazy to think that our outsourcing our violent aggression to paid soldiers means we as citizens have clean hands, whereas citizens of countries that have a draft are all fully responsible for everything that country does.

i fear we’ve begun reaching the snake eats its tail level of anti-Zionism. this is genuinely a disgusting thing to say about any ethnicity. at least you made an apology, but it does feel slightly disingenuous when you phrase it as “oh I was angry”. we all get angry, most don’t express it like that-

Okay but like, IDF service members are not an ethnic group. Zionism is not an ethnicity. It is a political movement built upon upholding an apartheid state. Israeli adults who do not oppose the existence of their nation are complicit. Complicity is absolutely not innocence.

I’m not talking about IDF service members. If June had said “there is no innocent IDF member” I wouldn’t have nearly as big an issue (although there is something to be said of individual culpability for a mandatory service). blaming all Israeli’s for the actions of Israel is not the same.

If someone said that every Japanese person was culpable for the Rape of Nanking, that’d be ridiculous. If someone said every Russian was culpable for the Ukraine war, that’d be ridiculous. All this type of rhetoric does is discredit the people pushing for Palestinian liberation.

also would like to add before I get called a zionist I am avidly pro-Palestine and anti-zionist but the co-opting of antisemitic language and tropes doesn’t help any palestinian

Ive seen lots of responses to this dunking on you with closed replies, refusing to acknowledge this very good apology. It remains absolutely horrid how little room some, such as yourself, are given for making mistakes. But please don't let that horridness break you! Your voice does matter!

you should leave X, it is deeply contrary to your radical stated values

Err...you aren't really 100% wrong on this take about a large amount of Israeli people being genocide perpetrators because of the mandatory service in the IOF.

Not all of us are spending huge amounts of time over on X the Everything App. Competent adults have the ability and responsibility to remove themselves from situations that emotionally dysregulate them, especially when that dysregulation leads to posts like these.

I know *we* certainly aren’t the victims here, but a lot of people really don’t stop to think how fucked up it was that in the wake of October 7th we spent months upon months watching videos of horrific violence and bodily harm on our social media feeds all while being told we were dramatic about it

That entire experience has made me a more bitter person, and I’m still gaslit to this day about how horrible it was and continues to be by liberals and zionists alike.

there is literally never a time when a child being blown to pieces and his charred head splattered to a wall is "complicated" and "very nuanced," and yet that's exactly what every single mainstream news station was saying.

The information environment is bereft of coverage that accurately reports on the scope and intensity of anti-Arab racism in Israel, from ordinary citizens to senior government officials. It is a majority consensus of genocidal intent and hatred. We can still grieve for 10/7 victims who opposed that.

Some ppl are more troubled by a "genocidal statement" about a country actively committing genocide, than they are about the genocide that country is committing. One must be kind & gentle when speaking out against baby killers. Genocide is bad, but stopping it is not as important as remaining civil.

I respect the apology but I don't understand why anti-Palestinians can post all over the internet that "there is no genocide" or "Muslims aren't people" or "they have to kill all the civilians to get the terrorists" and they never apologize, show remorse, or end up dogpiled for being bigots

you didn't need to apologize for obvious hyperbole, and anyone who tries to hold this against you is obviously bad faith. Israel is now above angry hyperbole? after decades of genocide? gimme a fucking break.

Yes it's the people highlighting the bad actions of the wreckers at the Marxist Communist union that are destroying unity on the left - not the micro sect harassing one of the most prominent advocates for Palestinian rights in the US - and doing so in a way vast majorities will find repulsive.

Personally I think the guy who ran on Palestinian rights and is now breaking bds by going to Zionist 10/7 rallies and spending tax payer money on protecting Palestinian land sales in synagogues is the one destroying unity on the left. Seems to me the MCU is working to maintain unity.

Yeah but you aren't wrong. Its compulsory service that every adult Israeli has participated in. Much like ACAB, all are complicit in the actions of their peers

Nobody fucking believes you. You're a tremendous piece of shit. You're pulling the equivalent of MAGA's "economic anxiety" made me do a racism. Go fuck yourself.

Apologizing to genoicdal Zionists is always bad even as a joke. Israelis living in the Gaza envelope are all militarized settlers explicitly tasked by the Zionist regime to serve as a murderous buffer to keep Palestinians trapped in Gaza. There was nothing inaccurate about your statement.

please girl get off of twitter, it's rotting the brains of everyone using it no matter how invincible they think they are, and these posts you regret are proof

Everyone still on there for reach or clout or even to keep up with the news or whatever is just doing this tweet over and over.

The platform was quite literally rebuilt to create interactions like this. It is actively a hazard to remain on X The Nazi App, where the genocide supporter can gleefully swarm any perceived weakness while the opposition has largely been suspended by now.

66% of Israelis support the genocide of Palestinians. You were right to apologise but it wasn’t the longest bow to draw in your original post.

wild of you to have feelings about a genocide that well soon be entering the third decade of that we are all powerless to stop how dare

You can't type that shit without hate in your heart, you need to take some time away from your keyboard to seriously reflect on that. I had to purge that hate too, there are good Israelis buried in there, that learned the truth and demand an end. We need to give them mercy and not lump them in.

And if we don't give them mercy, we're no better than the Zionist genociders who run that country. Because this country is in the same situation; run by Zionist genociders and represented by frothing, brainwashed monsters. If we can't give them mercy, we can't give it to ourselves, either.

So get your head out of your ass, your heart out of the flaming trash pile, go outside and think about shit before you even think of posting again.

This is not even the first time that you've played the lil birthday gal card after somebody told you "hey don't talk about people that way". At least the last time this happened you could call it a joke. This was just hate

While we're talking about regretful things, you sure have a lot of antisemites in your treehouse gassing you up. You ever thought about telling them off, or is coalition management just for the little people?

Everything you said was right though. The only Israelis who can claim even a shred of innocence are the ones who refuse to join the IDF. The rest of them are all at minimum war criminals, and more realistically enthusiastic genocidaires and murderers. Fuck 'em, every dead one is a good thing

We've all gotten out over our skis at one time or another. It's maddening to see this genocide carry on day after day, streamed in 4K, while everyone with the power to stop it either ignores it or cheers it on. I appreciate your self reflection on this. ❤️

Thanks for posting this. I understand being upset at the actions of the Israeli government but there are Israelis who are resisting their government.

(1) June I’m a patreon member and I wanna say that I really enjoy your work and insight on a lot of things. That said, I am a bit disappointed, though glad you apologized. I think you ought to be more careful with your words.

(2) It’s worth talking about how Israeli society is organized such that everyone is in some way complicit with genocide and colonialism. It’s also worth talking in the same breath about how we should condemn terrorism and collective punishment because those are bad things.

(3) War criminals and genocidaires should be punished and civilians should be free. It’s important to consider how the genocide causes outrage which in turn fuels antisemitism. This antisemitism is dangerous for Jews, but a benefit to the Zionist movement.

(4) More Jews will flee to Israel, a place they are constantly told is the only place they’ll ever feel that they belong. More Israelis means more settlers, more labor and resources for the Israeli government. It’s a feedback loop. We must uplift Palestinians and Jews alike as we fight colonialism.
