If I had a room temperature IQ, an addiction to ketamine, and the social skills of a mop bucket, do you think the NYT would be writing fawning articles about how much of genius I was? It’s only the fact that Elon has obscene amounts of money that he isn’t treated like the unhinged crackpot he is

That catapult system can be used against America or any country by launching rocks at the earth... you should read The Moon As A Harsh Mistress by Robert A. Heinlein for more details

This is obviously insane. Remember Hyperloop? Remember we’ll be on Mars in 2026? Remember his rocket cars? Remember his dodger stadium transit promise? Remember his promise to fix Flint’s water crisis? Catapult this man into the sun

Uh, why would you print this except as part of a roundup of “Stupid, ketamine-fueled bullshit that Elon has lied about for decades.” He is 100% not going to do ANY of that, any more than he’s gonna fix traffic with single-lane car tunnels or shoot people at supersonic speeds through vacuum tubes.

Little off-topic but why is this man so obsessed with white replacement and white supremacy when he looks more Asian than some Asian people I’ve seen

Even if this did deserve it's own article, which it does not, shouldn't the headline reflect that fact that none of this is remotely possible in the next decade, and even if it were achieved, would offer nothing to humanity "Con man tries to keep his stock prices up by offering rosy future"

We're turning 1 and we want to celebrate! Dump Musk actions are popping up across the US and Canada—find your local action or plan one yourself! No one is more responsible for our current mess than Elon Musk. Help hold him accountable. #TeslaTakedown #DumpMusk actionnetwork.org/event_campai...

Why is his Ketamine rotted brainarrhea even worthy of a single line in a paper? Other than he rich af? Do some actual journalism instead of ruminating his press memos. I hope you got at least some ad money from printing this high-fi nonsense.

The guy who’s been promising robotaxis “next year” for over a decade? Nooo, he’s so very credible. I would want a new category for news, like “old white man says”, and then you can just group all the nonsense quotes into a single page and move on to real news.

More importantly, he's gonna destroy the entire Low Earth Orbit band by filling it with shrapnel on erratic paths. Literally eliminating our ability to leave this planet or study it from afar. Can't believe a guy who managed to destroy the functionality of his own dick would be so stupid. 🧐🧐🧐

He's received more government assistance than any person in history. Seems like the government should just nationalize SpaceX and the Tesla charging network.

What’s he going to do? Is he going to claim the whole moon under the “discovery” doctrine (Luna Nullius instead of Terra Nullius) and then claim the valuation of SpaceX should be > $1 octillion (10^27), so as to justify insanely high valuation of SpaceX?

"A catapult to launch them into space" Yeah, that's called a RAILGUN. The richest man in the world wants to build and own the world's largest RAILGUN. Presumably on an island with a dormant volcano, for the esthetics.

I have told everyone I know about my goal of dating Adriana Lima and Alessandra Ambrosio at the same time and that eating one pint of Ben and Jerry’s a day will help me achieve that goal. I too should be taken as seriously as Elon Musk’s pronouncements

Many four year olds in preschool are also enthusiastic about building factories on the moon. Their plans are probably more innovative than those of a deranged, drug-addled, megalomaniacal Nazi. Where is the New York Times’ breathless, credulous reporting on their ideas?

Remember when Elon Musk farted out a design to help rescue those kids stuck in a flooded cave, and when the expert told him his design didn't make any sense, he called him a pedophile? Yeah, I wouldnt trust that guy.

Oh yeah? Well I'm going to wake up tomorrow with 10 million dollars and a big dick. Both of these things are equally likely to happen, so put my prediction in the paper.

It's difficult to take the NYT's reporting seriously when they parrot Musk's grifts without even a shred of basic scientific literacy. No part of this is possible with current technology. This would take tens of thousands of people working over decades to do. It's just more bullshit from a con man.

The first question any Musk employee should ask before committing to working in that factory is whether there will also be a massive catapult on the moon.

And this is why I don't regret canceling my subscription, and I probably never will resubscribe. The reason Elon Musk had the power to wreck the world is stories with headlines like this. Everybody, including the author of this story knows Elon is insane. Still, the @nytimes.com makes clickbait.
