Trump: "You call it United Kingdom, Britain, they call it sometimes England. They go back to the old. It's got more names than any other place in the world."

I just watched him interviewed on BBC It's always stunning to me that these people treat Trump (& speak of him) as if he has some sort of intellect, and operates with the same set of rules/intent that the rest of them do... because he DOESN'T , and I don't get why anyone pretends that he does.

Well, Donald. England is a country, Great Britain is an island that doesn't include Northern Ireland, and the United Kingdom is the sovereign nation that includes all four. You get a Dumb with a "B." in 4th grade geography.

The United Kingdom: Short for the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, this is the sovereign state. It combines England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland

Ireland: The island next door is split in two. The Republic of Ireland is an independent, separate nation and is not part of the UK, whereas Northern Ireland is part of the UK

My god he's on a roll today. This is quite possibly the dumbest thing Trump has ever publicly said, and I am WELL AWARE of his entire body of work. Oh my Christ. I can't. Look at the man hanging his head as he tries to not vomit from laughing too much.

Knowing the difference between England, Great Britain and the United Kingdom should be one of the questions on a one or two page test a person must get at least a 90% on before they can even register to run as president of the United States.

My guess is that if you asked people here in the UK to define the difference between the UK, Britain, and the British Isles, a lot would fail. (And you could even add ‘England’ to the list in some cases.) OTOH, he’s the POTUS.

His mother and grandparents are Scottish and he knows eff all about the UK. What an embarrassment at 80.

Keeping in mind, he thinks Canada, South America and Greenland are part of the US. While forgetting Puerto Rico has anything to do with the US.

Colorado tried to stop his being allowed on the ballot because of engaging in the insurrection, based on the 14th Amendment to the Constitution, Section 3. It went all the way to the Supreme Court, which could have upheld it and applied it to all states. Instead it kicked it to Congress. 😖

Jesus he doesn’t know those are three different things. Ok, maybe the average American wouldn’t know the difference, but you might expect the President to know, if he weren’t a drooling moron that is.

Actually no you dumb mother fucker they are two distinct terms meaning two different things and you’d know that if you bothered to do one single 20-second google search. The stupidity bothers me, but the laziness is even worse.

He's a moron, and the facial expressions of Burnham reveals more than he could possibly say: he is listening to a senile old man.

"...very very large eh brain..." Great Britain = England, Scotland, and Wales. UK= the union of England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. And England is a country that is part of the UK (see above).

Maybe 10 years ago this kind of idiocy made me laugh but now I think it’s deadly serious. That such ignorance is on display for all the world to see can only make the country more vulnerable.

😄 Iss.. tan.. buuull. Also takes me back to a little jingly song my mum used to sing to teach you how to spell it.

I couldn’t care less what this twats opinion is on anything🤮 He’s an ignorant sack of 🍊💩who knows less than fcuk all about anything except himself🤬 He shouldn’t even be at the UN🤬

Nobody knows that Wales doesn't have an "h". Everybody thought it was a whole country of whales. All the whales run into the windmills and the boats and get electrocuted. There's no whales anymore because they're all dead from the windmills. That's why they call Wales. There was an h, but it changed

Genius. I wonder if anyone tried to explain the island is Great Britain, & three countries share space there under a theoretically United Kingdom?

To be fair to him a lot of Americans have always called our country England (largely because of history) It does go by a few names but that's largely because our full name is the United kingdom of great Britain and northern Ireland. I don't criticise him for that.

To be fair, a lot of Americans couldn't find England on a map. The President of the United States should know the difference between England, Great Britain, and the United Kingdom. Dumbing everything down is why the U.S. is the way it is. And it's getting worse with all the christian homeschoolers.

And he owns golf courses and travels to the respective countries frequently, so he DEFINITELY should know this shit!

Does he know how offensive this is when people from the US don't understand what the United Kingdom is ? Let's refer to California as the USA from now on ??

UK = the nation state comprising England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland Britain = the island comprising England, Scotland and Wales England = England

I usually listen to him on mute but tried. I got about 3 seconds in and it’s on mute again. He is horrifically ignorant. It’s cringy to watch.
